It’s finally here!! Speed Ramping is finally coming to v5 of LumaFusion. I have been testing it for the @Luma-Touch team for a number of weeks now and I like to think I have played a very small part in shaping the way editors will use the new speed ramping tools in LumaFusion by @Luma-Touch .
If you want to follow along you can download the “Bungee Jumper” video clip via the link below.

Going forward, I will try include any AI generated video clips for you to use to practice with whilst learning LumaFusion.
Enjoy 🤙

Compared to how many people have been screaming for speed ramping throughout the years, it is weird that not more people have watched this video, I even shared it in the LumaFusion users facebook group, and on Discord.
With a better audio, I would not have stopped after 40 seconds.
@axel-von-watchmaxe Fair comment. I’ve sorted out my audio since this video and got it dialed in better. Thanks.
Thanks for the video Stuart. Would it be possible for you to show a video that easily displays the speed ramp. Your example is so subtle, barely shows a change. I thought speed ramps need motion in the unedited video
Great suggestion Harry! I am going to put something together for you today.
Excellent 👌 BUT could do with a Red DOT showing where you are pressing or clicking as this is a new UI and just saying 'ease preset' doesn't really help..🤷♂️ TIA.❤
So looking forward to these new features… great vid. Was wondering where you’d been… ;)
A bit burnt out, a kidney infection and other factors. I’m glad to be back 🤙
@@IAMSTULITTLE Sorry to hear that - hope everything’s improving. New Luma stuff looks great though. Looking forward to getting stuck in!
Can u hear the audio track or music track that is on the timeline when editing speed ramping? I edit speed ramps in time with the music track so this is important to me
Yes no problem as long as it’s on a different track. If you are speed ramping with music on the video then you will need to detach the music from the video so that the speed and pitch of the music is constant.
Nice..but really needed a 10 second clip not 4... As the difference isn't noticeable enough..
Where do i get luma version 5! It’s not on the App Store :(
It’s still to be released as yet. Although there are signs with the latest beta drop, that they are very close to launching v5
I agree with a few of the comments below. The changes are so subtle its difficult to see what they do.
I got you covered, watch out for a demo video later on today.
6 fingers on each hand? 😂😂😂 in all seriousness thank you so much for the video tutorial.
I leave these in to see who notices 😂
@@IAMSTULITTLE 🤣🤣 that’s great
I'm so friggen excited for this version to come out! That looks like a fantastic interface for doing those! The simplified freeze frame is a welcome change too!
I guess the big question I have is; Do keyframes for other attributes in clip, adjust their position relative to changes made by the speed ramp? Like for example; I have a lot of clips that I need to zoom in on/follow subject, and want to do speed ramp AFTER I've done the zooming keyframes. Most of the editors I've tried.. the speed ramp messes up the positions of all my other keyframes.
Thanks for putting this demo video together.! I can't wait to try it
I will need to try this to be able give you an answer 🤙
@@IAMSTULITTLE awesome man!
I just purchased LumaFusion for iPhone 15 pro max but it’s not version 5 how do I update this
Version 5 is yet to be released and will be coming very soon, my guess would be June now, but I am not quite sure as yet. Shouldn’t be too long either way…
@@IAMSTULITTLEbro when
Is hdr arriving on android yet? Can you give me an estimation?
I’m afraid I’m an IOS user so I am really not sure of the timeline for that update. All Android development is carried out by a third party app developer which Luma-Touch contract to do the Android version of LumaFusion. So there is a completely different delivery schedule for new features and updates.
Thanks for the video. However, I do think it was let down by the strange choice of video clip. It’s hard to work out what’s going on with such an unusual clip. A better choice might be someone running across the screen (we all know what that looks like at normal speed) so that it would be more obvious when their pace picks up and slows down.
Sorry about that, I am trying to use more generative AI content in my work as I believe it will be an important part of everyone’s editing workflow in the next 18 months or so. However, I have taken on board your comment and I will aim to do better in future and I appreciate the critique. 🤙
Can you export SPHERE 360 video out of lumafusion in 8k?
I know you can export 360° video from LumaFusion but I am unsure as to whether it would be 8K.
@@IAMSTULITTLE and I can’t even find info on the export on their site. Seems like that should be a key thing. Don’t want to buy it unless I can.
If you go to their site and download the Reference Guide PDF - lumatouch.clickhelp.co/resources/Storage/lumafusion-reference-guide-publication/lumafusion-reference-guide-publication.pdf#page377
And on Page 377 it goes through all of the export options. If you could send me a 30 sec 8K clip I could import it and then try and export it which might give you the answer you are looking for… ?
Driving so can’t recall but they should be
Is there a v5 release date?
It wont be far away now as there are less and less bugs.
Is V5 out? I was hoping for IN and Out in the timeline..
It’s not out just quite yet but is only a few weeks away by all accounts.
Also, why would you want In and Out on the timeline? Are you talking per clip? Or for your video as a whole?
@@IAMSTULITTLE All I need is In and Out on the timeline. Hoping they added it..
@@IAMSTULITTLE Um, how can I explain 40 yrs of editing.. that is just how we do it in tv news, in and out on the timeline determines 2 things, 1-duration of the b-roll, and 2-whether it is a backtime or normal forward edit, it is crucial to tv news video editing we have in and out on the timeline, but I cannot get Terri or Chris to understand this..
It’s not something I have been able to test in the latest betas of the app. So I think you might end up disappointed I am afraid. Video clips have a naturally adjustable in and out point in the timeline and in the preview panel it shows the clip position of cut and the length of clip used. Also, each clip displays the duration of the clip. So I can’t honestly imagine what else you would really need on the timeline?
Im guessing that the update will only be for ios then because i am also a beta tester but im on android and i haven’t gotten notifications of anything knew and after clicking your video i checked the playstore for anything but nothing, well thats disappointing i was looking foward to speed ramping and the other new features. Well i could be surprised and the update be on android as well, you never know im holding out hope.
I would think it will be quite a while before Android user see these features migrate over 🤙
They say that the same features are common to android this summer too.
@Ponk_80 Yes, I asked a lumatouch team member, and they confirmed these features will be in android for 19.99
@IAMSTULITTLE no, it was confirmed by a lumatouch team member I asked because I have a tutorial channel on lumafusion for android, and they said the update was for android as well as ios. For 19.99, a 1 time purchase. I typed that comment before I asked them lol.
Excellent news…
