Changing My 1977 Ford F250 Rear End Fluid | Dana 61 |

- In This video I will be changing the old rear differential fluid on the Ford. The Dana 61 and Dana 60 are very similar and any other style of differential should be relatively the same process. Remember if you have a locker or anything of the sort that has clutches you need to ad a certain amount of additive to the gear oil. If you want for the gasket you can use gasket maker to help seal any imperfections. I did not use any because both surfaces are in really good shape.

I was planning on doing this to my 1977 Ford F-150! Thanks for making the video simple!
I have a 76 F250, 300, NP435, D61. Those diff covers are thin and prone to leaking with just the paper gasket. I suggest using a thin film of RTV on each side of the gasket. It won't pour out with just the paper gasket. But it will weep out without a sealant.
I'm getting ready to rip my truck apart as it is an old farm truck and needs just about everything done to it.
Great video. Just bought a 72 highboy with a dana 60 I think
do you perhaps know the lengths of the axle shafts on that rear end?
Any Leaks without using RTV with the felpro? I have gone back and forth for a while and would prefer to install it dry but dont want a come back.
So far I have not had any leaks thankfully, had a bit of seeping at first but checked the level a couple weeks ago and its still full up.
Hey did it leak with no gasket sealer ?
So far it has not leaked. The gasket soaked up some oil and I have checked level a couple times since changing fluid but its still full up.
What fluid did u use??? I have a 1977
I think I used SAE 80W-90 gear oil as I still have the jug. I would double check though through some forum searches.
