Why these repairs mostly fail in western countries? Here the secrets of success: First you must wearing safety pajama but bended welding rods are the real secret for doing these repairs right.
This is a pretty old, and worn out lathe, at least the tailstock is. He has the spindle sticking out WAY too far. But I'm impressed with his mechanical ability, to chuck up such an irregularly shaped part. It probably would've been best to turn all the old threads off first, and turn it around .100" undersize. Then add the weld. I wonder how this turned out.....
Hi I was thinking exactly the same as you wrote, the health and safety in the UK would have had a s*** attack at that ! All the best from Henry in the UK 🇬🇧 ps witch country are you from ?
When it comes to cost benefit, I don't know if it's worth it, but I really like the willingness, the intelligence in creating resources to perform the service, and not least talking about courage, sometimes I get a little apprehensive about the risks of this type of service. if the parts are reliable, according to technical standards.
Don't let you First World Privilege get in the way you think. Pretty sure they don't have Parts stores every other block or wrecking yards available. Parts are rare and very expensive.
this guy is incredible he can fix anything. well done i hope you are going to continue to make videos of this machinist. how many years is he being doing this ? can you tell me is name ?👍👍
This is not a machinist, a machinist would not do such a stupid thing, this man is an ironworker. A career that turns scrap iron into eternal scrap iron.
Should never weld over a lathe bed, the spatter will to stick to the bed ways plus he has earthed the lathe and the welding will arc through and destroy the bearings, and the wheel bearing will last no time on that rough shaft🙄🙄
I didn't know this part of the world was so educated in machining. I'm impressed and my world view has changed. The west gives the impression that other countries don't have the capabilities of machining.
Too many things wrong with this to list them, all the Engineers watching this will know exactly what I mean,we dont do this in the west because we're not cowboys and we do it right!
So there, champion the turner.
I impressed on how he got a hold on the odd shaped part .. Nice job , I always impressed on how these guys make things happen.
Thanks
Yes and the run out on the tail stock and it finishes well.
Nice one

Welding is a strong joint
I've never been so afraid in my life.
It's nice to see people who know what they're doing. Liked and subscribed.
Thanks
No one here knows what their doing

Wow 😮amazing, you are the best!
People like you can’t do this in USA 🇺🇸
Thanks
*Anywhere else in the world they'd scrap it and buy a new one. Also mainly for safety.*
I keep wondering where the ground is connected for the welding. Is it arcing through bearings
Yes it is😱

Maybe the tray it was on??? But not really?? Sad workmanship.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge, a great job. A WHOLE CRAFTSMANSHIP.👏👏👏👏

In Pakistan parts are not readily available and if they are then they are very expensive.

I think turning it smooth, cutting new threads and using/machining a new nut would be a more proper fix. But hey, thats just me.
