I'm not sure where I'm at right now lol.. I ordered an ecu and I plan to use forscan to install my original keys into the system.. but idk if there is any differences in the harnesses lol
Jr. Anon harnesses should both be the same, there was very little I found different between them. I used the dash and cluster from the parts car to get around the security stuff myself, key and ecu also from the parts car.
Hey man sorry to bother you again but I got my ecu harness from a gt now for my 99 v6 everything matches except the interior harness plugs. I have a green one in the interior and off the old v6 and the gt has a black one now everything looks the same wire wise and I would swap the plugs but there is a red with black stripe wire that isn’t in the v6 plug did you have this issue?
i have a 2000 3.8 v6 5speed amd a mercury marquis 4.6 auto what other parts will i need to make the swap will the 4.6 bolt to my trany or do i need a bellhouseing?
You will need more then just the engine and transmission, you will also need a gt ecu, a gt engine harness, an 8.8 rear end, the hydroboost master cylinder, the lines from the hydroboost, and the list goes on and on. As for the transmission, the v6 transmission will not bolt to the engine, it shares the same bolt pattern to the pushrod 5.0, so you will need to get a transmission for a 4.6
I have no issues with the V6 personally lol, It's the most reliable engine iv ever owned. I looked around for about 3 months before I found the donor car I wanted, I had to drive about 4 hours to go get it but I got it lol. If you look for a Donor car to do this swap, you can use other vehicles for it, it doesn't have to be a mustang. Crown Vics, Explorers, F150's, they all work for the swap, you could even look for a Lincoln with the 4 Valve 5.4 V8, those work also.
Hey man I’m doing this swap on my 99 and I was curious did you have to swap the ecu harness from the v6 to v8? The one that runs from the computer to the ccrm? Let me know thanks!
when you do the swap, the big thick harness that is under the carpet on the inside is the exact same as the GT interior harness. I ended up switching to charcoal interior so I pulled the dash anyway, which made it easier to get to the connections for the engine harness and the harness for the engine bay.
What’s different on the ac system from the v6 and v8 also do you have a way of finding a diagram for the hydroboost? These are the only things I have left in the car to do
Dylan Hays The AC system is different between the two, I hooked mine up but haven't filled the system back up yet. The hydroboost is pretty self explanatory, I didn't have any issues hooking it up and I didn't have a diagram lol.
Dylan Hays to be honest with you I can't remember lol, I had done a full interior swap on this car which made everything super easy. Went from grey cloth to charcoal leather.
I did end up using the 8.8 rear end over the 7.5 yes, the 7.5 from my understanding will handle the 4.6 for awhile, but I had it so I used it lol. The fuel pumps are the same between the v6 and gt.
I'd say just under 3k, with the purchase of the donor car and going to get it. I didn't really have much else to purchase other then a clutch kit and fluids.
could you tell me what I'll need for the swap please what I have so far is an engine and transmission from a 2000 crown Vic cvpi what else will I need I'd really appreciate feedback thank you
I bought a wrecked 2002 GT to do my swap, it was hit in the back so I didn't have to replace anything back there anyway. If you are looking to do a swap I would get a wrecked GT to get the part's from, if you try to buy everything separate it will end up costing to much.
Dylan Hays I swapped the entire dash from the GT lol, my v6 had a grey interior with cloth seats so I swapped over the black leather interior from the GT.
Dylan Hays The dash I'm using came out of the GT I bought for part's, I didn't pull anything out of the dash when I pulled it from the part's car to be installed in my own car, so the harness that's being used came from the GT. Everything I installed on my swap came from the part's car. The only harness I'm reusing is the half that's going under the seats towards the back of the car. Dash was from the GT, engine harness was from the GT, ECU harness was from the GT.
Thanks man nice car
Also did you have to change the fuel pump or was it also the same. Thanks!
I'm doing this and I'm scared shitless lol
Jr. Anon Just take your time man lol, it's all easy stuff.
Nice, I'm leaving the rear end the way it is.. Heard they can take a pretty good beating from a v8 lol

Dylan Hays I didn't run into any wiring issues on mine, my car is an 01 v6 and the parts car is an 02 GT, everything was fine with mine.
i have a 2000 3.8 v6 5speed amd a mercury marquis 4.6 auto what other parts will i need to make the swap will the 4.6 bolt to my trany or do i need a bellhouseing?

v6 be fine manual on budget gt? In my area i can only find v6s and v8s are bit out of price range.
I have no issues with the V6 personally lol, It's the most reliable engine iv ever owned. Hey man I’m doing this swap on my 99 and I was curious did you have to swap the ecu harness from the v6 to v8? The one that runs from the computer to the ccrm? Let me know thanks!
Dylan Hays I'm pretty sure I did swap that out, I'm not sure if I needed to or not.
What did you do to connect the master cylinder lines to the proportioning valve. I'm having problems with that
I swapped everything from the gt parts car
Was the computer plug and play
I’m doing a 01 gt to 03 v6 body and was wondering if the computer was plug and and play
Yes it was, the entire swap was pretty much plug and play.
Did you use the V-6 wiring harness if not how hard was it to put the V8 Harnest
when you do the swap, the big thick harness that is under the carpet on the inside is the exact same as the GT interior harness. I ended up switching to charcoal interior so I pulled the dash anyway, which made it easier to get to the connections for the engine harness and the harness for the engine bay.
More questions 😂 coil packs.. those are wired into the engine harness right? Only problem I'm having right now
Jr. Anon Yes, they are wired into the harness.
Cody Yost thank goodness.. wish me luck 😂
What’s different on the ac system from the v6 and v8 also do you have a way of finding a diagram for the hydroboost? These are the only things I have left in the car to do

Is the only difference the lines and compressor after the dryer or?
just the lines and compressor, everything else is the same.
Did you have to pull the dash out to get the harness through?
Dylan Hays to be honest with you I can't remember lol, I had done a full interior swap on this car which made everything super easy. Went from grey cloth to charcoal leather.
Did you swap the rear axle aswell from the gt?
I did end up using the 8.8 rear end over the 7.5 yes, the 7.5 from my understanding will handle the 4.6 for awhile, but I had it so I used it lol. The fuel pumps are the same between the v6 and gt.
so how much was your estimated cost to do the swap?
I'd say just under 3k, with the purchase of the donor car and going to get it. I didn't really have much else to purchase other then a clutch kit and fluids.
Did you use the v6 fuel pump still?
Dylan Hays yup, they are the same for V6 and GT.
could you tell me what I'll need for the swap please what I have so far is an engine and transmission from a 2000 crown Vic cvpi what else will I need I'd really appreciate feedback thank you
Jose Leyva you can read thru most of the comments and piece together everything, there's so much involved it's hard to name everything lol
Cody Yost OK will do lol just one big question did u use the gt motor mounts? lol that's the one thing I really need to know sorry bud
Jose Leyva yes, I used the GT motor mounts, the K member should be the same between the v6 and GT also.
Cody Yost OK thank you sooo much bud that's all I need for now lol again sorry for the questionnaire lol much love!!
Jose Leyva it's cool man lol, always willing to help, if you have any more questions feel free to ask, I'll try to answer what I can.
Can you tell me what you had to change man ? I would like to have a list please
And i want to do this to my 2010 that’s why
Alejandro Pena I have no idea on the 2010's, they have a lot of stuff that the new edge doesn't have lol.
Cody Yost well yeah true but what parts did you had to buy or change ? Do you have a list ? Please i would check later kn man
I bought a wrecked 2002 GT to do my swap, it was hit in the back so I didn't have to replace anything back there anyway. If you are looking to do a swap I would get a wrecked GT to get the part's from, if you try to buy everything separate it will end up costing to much.
Cody Yost oh okay same year as mine ? Because i know 2005-2010 have the same stuff under the hood
How did you switch the hydroboost and lines?
I took the V6 stuff out and the GT stuff bolted right in, no modification to make it work, just a straight bolt in.
+Cody Yost What year was the GT from? I have an 01 V6 being swapped from a 96GT
+Pat Haugen I used a 2002 gt that was wrecked in the rear, I have a video of it on my channel, it's a red gt.
Did you swap over your dash harness from the v6 to the gt?
Dylan Hays I swapped the entire dash from the GT lol, my v6 had a grey interior with cloth seats so I swapped over the black leather interior from the GT.
So you swapped the dash harness with it then when you did the interior?
Dylan Hays Yup, I never took anything out of the dash when I swapped it over.
You are confusing me lol sorry so yes you did change the v6 dash harness to the v8? Or no you left it and just put the gt dash on the v6?
Dylan Hays The dash I'm using came out of the GT I bought for part's, I didn't pull anything out of the dash when I pulled it from the part's car to be installed in my own car, so the harness that's being used came from the GT.
