Drove my sisters in 1965 at 16 learning how to drive ( better ). Was a 3speed auto gear shift. Was fun to drive.
Sounds great 🔥🔥
Ese es un motor Ventaux!!... Soy de argentina y tuve varios Renault.. Gordini y Dauphine!.. Muy nobles esos motores, y muy sencillos para sus reparaciones... 😊
Seeing an automatic - transmission ' Dauphine ' is news to me. The ones I remember ran with standard gear - clutch transmission. You've done an amazing restoration. That car is quite unique. Thank you for sharing the video.
I have ford f150 fx rosuh 2013 570hp No I have 690hp
It used a standard 3 speed manual transmission with servo mechanisms to shift. It had a magnetic clutch which used iron particles and fingers, as the power increased the clutch engaged until at max power the clutch was totally engaged. The clutch power came from a separate generator, at idle it produced no power so the clutch was disengaged. As rpm picked up the clutch engaged. There was an analog computer behind the rear seat cushion. When a shift point was reached it closed a second throttle under the carburetor, killed the power to the clutch, made the servos shift to the next gear, then opened the throttle back up and restored clutch power. It could do this up or down for steep hills etc. At least that's the way my Aunt's was. I understand this system was developed by Jaeger. What killed it in the US was garages figuring that since it was an automatic it should have ATF in the transmission. The final nail in it was a law requiring a Park position that would engage a locking pawl in the transmission. Since it was a standard 3 speed manual transmission there was no way to meet the requirements without redesigning the transmission and the sales volume was too low to justify the expense. But it was ingeniously designed.
Sounds good
Hey buddy I have your car!
Oh ya?
@@elitenomad I think so bro!
@@kaiden9725 is it still in Michigan?
@@elitenomad how long ago was it in Michigan?
@@kaiden9725 it's been here the last few year's, I sold it to my cousin who live's here. I moved here from southern Ohio back in 2020, we seen it listed on market place once and then it disappeared. He traded it for a chevy pickup I think.
Nice gentle video, just watched a bunch of idiots wrecking one....
Do you think it's possible or even probable to find an automatic Dauphine in reasonable working shape somewhere in the US, maybe via Ebay? Would parts be hard to find for this model? What do you think? By the way, your Dauphine is BEAUTIFUL and your review of it top notch. Bravo! Peace...🙏♐
Did you rebuild the engine to be a gordini, or is it a original gordini engine? I would love to rebuild my 4cv engine to be a gordini engine, but i’m still looking or it is even something you can do.
My cousin had one of those. It was beige . It had a push button automatic transmission.
Hey man love the truck just wanted to know what lift kit you have on there and the tire specs I'm looking to the do the same to mine in the future thank you brotha
I'm not sure on the lift but I know it had 35's on it, we ended up having to trim the front bumper corners to get it to clear the tires. My buddy sold the truck awhile ago.
The cameraman has Parkinson desease?
Wat mufflers you have ??
Amazing restauration, but where is the rest of the car?
Hoje tudo é o dono do carro que tem que se fazer. Não existe mais competência.

Ain't no way that's a v6 bro
Muito lindo!!!!!
What a beautiful Renault Dauphine, my Dad had one. Great moments when I was a child. Regards!
What's the part number on the thrusher ?
bruh, quit cluttering the search results, aint nobody want to hear what a v6 sounds like with thrush welded, or flow 40s. v6s sound like shlt. if you got a v6 mustang and you make that shlt loud, just know that everybody in traffic that is the slightest into cars is laughing at you. just as cancerous as a honda with a fart can...
I mean the video got your attention and you gave it a view lol. I no longer have this car, it ended up getting a v8 and a 5 speed. Fun car, thanks for the view!
@@elitenomad yea i was pretty irritated because there are more V6 videos then anything but it is what it is.
@@UsefulEntertainment this video is also older than dirt lol, I haven't had the car for about 4 year's, I'm a v8 guy at heart but everyone starts somewhere when it comes to cars.
sweet little car
bullshit aint no v6
I promise, it was definitely a V6 lol
Just came across your videos. Have a 59 Renault 4cv ran when last parked over 30 years ago. Any suggestions on what to do to get it running and more importantly any ideas on swaps to help it stop
Great job.. little dudes👍
Would have been nice to top off this treat with a ride. Thanks for the video of a really cute and rare car. Cheers
There's a couple other video's on my channel of this same car driving around. Nothing fancy lol, just running it thru the gears a bit at a park close to the house.

I wish the French car makers did not give up on us they hace so much more class then that junk from Japan!
That motor is beautiful how much it cost you?
You're obviously proud to own such a pretty little ORIGINAL Dauphine. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest circa 1957-66 and we saw a lot of Canadian television. I remember when the Dauphine came out. They sold well there and their owners liked them. But the car got a bad and undeserved rap by Americans -- mostly because in that era any Yank who went for a rear engine car bought a VW or a Corvair. The Japanese had yet to make real inroads in our markets, though I recall there were a scant few (by comparison) Subaru 360 2-stroke cars as well as DKW/Auto-Union mini sedans from Germany. When I was in my twenties I bought a Renault LeCar (R5) new with a big soft-top and I loved it!
I remember my dad sweating and swearing over the engine one summer back in the '60s. He got rid of it after a few weeks.
I actually have a Renault dolphin push-button transmission only 23000 miles on it it's been sitting in the garage since 1983 not really sure what I'm going to do with it?
link to everything??
Very fantastic cars i love douphine 😍🥰❤
