  • This is the quick intro and plan on what I will be doing in the next few videos. I bought my 03 V6 mustang brand new in November of 2002 and I always loved the new edge style. I recently purchased a 04 Mach 1 that has been in a crash and it can't be fixed so the next best thing is to swap it to my 03 Mustang.

    Bro , before you do the swap don’t forget to do v6 vs v8 .

    It's a shame the Mach 1 couldn't be saved. But at least it will be put to good use.

      I know, from outside it looked like small hit, after i took out the engine it has big kink in the firewall and floor from rail, absolutely not fixable.

    Hey man awesome video just quick question do i have to change my aftermarket dual exhaust and suspension for a v6 to v8 swap or do i leave it how it is. thanks in advance

    • @AmelsGarage
      @AmelsGarage  Před 3 lety +2

      You can leave your suspension 100% as well the engine cross member. But you will need to modify your exhaust. You can still reuse the mufflers but v8 headers won’t meet up with v6 exhaust.

    Hey I’m from Vegas too! I’m in the process of swapping my 2002 mustang 3.8 with a 4.6 off of a 03 mustang. My motor is at 198k and is giving out sadly.

      @@AmelsGarage damn that was 8 months ago. Well the guy I was buying the donor car sadly flaked on me. I searched around for months but the prices here in Vegas is stupid. Thankfully I have sourced a donor car two days ago from a friend on Instagram. I’m buying it for $1500, 1998 mustang gt with an 04 mustang gt 4.6 pi motor. I have watched your videos but I don’t think I can do this all alone. Is there anyway I can message you for questions?

    Hey I’m thinking about doing an engine swap on my 04 stang. But it has over 266K miles and has a lot of front end body work that has to be redone such as ball joints and new bearings and wheel brakes..I’m not very knowledgeable about cars but would like to begin learning. Is my car worth putting in the money to save? Or should I just save up for a new one. Besides the issues she has now she runs perfectly fine

    • @AmelsGarage
      @AmelsGarage  Před 2 lety

      It’s worth the swap if you can find donor car that has been in accident with lower miles and you can move all parts from donor car to your V6. But if you will be buying parts separately than it might not be the best option, better off to save and buy decent V8.
      If you do decide to do the swap you will need: Engine with wiring, if going from auto to auto you don’t need trans, if going to manual from auto you need trans, paddles, drive shaft. Also your v6 diff is weak, you will need that too. You will need ECU for v8. Plus all engine and body wiring. Don’t forget all the labor that you need to put in. Sometimes it’s better to buy than invest time. Plus there are other smaller thing that add up.

      You dont need to rewire on the 99-04 do you? Ive done 2 cars a 94 v6 to 94 gt and a 89 foxbody as well and never rewired the entire car and never had a single electrical issue and everything worked flawlessly

    Anybody know what’s going on I have a 2003 v6 and it doesn’t want to pull in like 2and 3 but once you get past 30 mph it pulls fine and it is an Automatic

    • @AmelsGarage
      @AmelsGarage  Před 2 lety

      I’m not transmission export but i what i can tell you is, your reverse drum clutch might be going bad. Lots of standing burnouts will cause this problem. The trans will have to be rebuilt.

    Where is the after video? A friend of mine wants to pull his v6 and put in a 4.6 from a police car he got at auction. Can it be done?

    • @AmelsGarage
      @AmelsGarage  Před 2 lety

      I have multiple videos of swap. Key thing is to get engine, engine wiring ecm and and you should be golden. However you will need to pats removed from ECU so that you can use your key.

      I bought it in Autozone a while back. Currently, they don't have it anymore so that I can share a link. But here is the brand Gatorback 6PK2525 & GoodYear 4060995. Both of these items' numbers are stamped on the belt. Google it to see, it's ribbed.
