I did the same. Donated my 1998 Mustang after a divorce because I didn't need two cars. I spent a year tracking her down and eventually bought her back! Getting her renovated now. Eventually, will be time for a motor upgrade (want to make her a sleeper).
Spitting facts my guy....I'm a 17 year old and I drive a v6 mustang 2000....i modded her and took real good care of her....fixed her up and tuned her and put some upgrades i race in it once every blue moon but I really do appreciate her and wash polish oil change etc but yes v6's are much cleaner but hoping to upgrade her much more in the future
@@dgk5556 Nice. I have a 2003 Mustang GT. She runs great too. I’ve modded and restored her to almost new condition. But like I said, when I first got her she needed quite a bit of maintenance. New tires, brakes, tie rods/alignment.

@@MDot9215 if the car has 70,000 miles on it then V8 swap it, if it's a manual it should be fairly straightforward, if it's an automatic then you might want to cut your losses.

Love the stories man it’s nice to see some guys that have a mutual appreciation for the new edge cars. My cousins car has quite the story as well. Was his first car at 16, was crashed and rebuilt, then got a 5 speed 2v swap. Few years later got a 4v swap
Love the story of your friend building the car he wanted over time. Also love the color of his car. I never had a V8 anything until not long ago but I agree having V6s cars for a long time tempered me and my driving and I think I drive the V8 better and smarter than if I had started with a V8. Thanks for the video.

My first car is a 1999 cobra mustang but for some reason it just felt wrong to have that car as my first car but I respect it so much and clean it everyday and love the channel man it inspired me to get what I have
Hey dude! Who ever you are. You take the cake for true mustang love. All the blood sweat and tears into a v6. Best part is you only swapped to v8 cause the v6 blew up. I currently have a v6 and 2 gts. I drive my v6 the most. Gets great gas mileage. I get a kick out of dogging my v6. Hopefully my motor don't blow up too. I bought my gts already with exhaust and mods. One also has cams. They sink like gas and are very loud. I've also had a couple of mach 1s. One mach 1 was procharged. So yeah...I only mention the other cars to prove my true love for my v6. Anybody in the Dallas area wanna race?! Lol
Hearing that it sat for a number of years is all too familiar with my story. Same thing when I got my V6 mustang new in 98. In 2003 I acquired a 99 SOHC V8 with 17k miles and it sat for about the same length of time because different connectors, fuel systems, PATS set up, etc. It was a daunting task but now I have the car I only wished I could’ve had back then. It was a bumpy road but I wouldn’t change my journey one bit. You are correct that some of the best mustang owners, were once V6 bangers. Thanks for posting. 🤙🏼
That’s really awesome. Glad you finally got it where you want it. I too wish I could have had what I have now back then so I try to remember what it was like back then.
Hey guys, new mustang owner here, I owe the same one In this video green and everything. V6 2000. I wanna definitely changed it up, but I just don’t know where to start, I’m not really a car guy, but ever since I got my Muscle I’ve fallen into the rabbit holes,
I had a fifth gen GT.. I now own a fourth gen V6, that was my daughters. It's not as powerful, but it's okay for running to the grocery every now and then. I really like the frontend on the 05-14 better than the new edge.
V6 look great if u fix them up right! Your correct justin being a previous v6 owner over 5 years ago we grow to appreciate our newer heavier powered ponies.
The Hydrolocked engine was the best thing to happen to that car, definitely much better now. I had a 94 V6 at one point and glad I moved onto V8's soon after. Shouldn't be too hard to find everything for an eaton to go on it, people upgrade all the time. I'm keeping the eaton from my 04 Cobra when I do upgrade though. These stock parts are going to be harder and harder to find as the 03/04 Cobras get older
I've got everything except crank pulley, pulley bridge, idler pulleys cage pulley, and gas tank. Once I have those ill start the blower swap process. Hopefully the bottom end holds up.
@@FieroScooter That would be my biggest concern as well is the bottom end. With a stock pulley on the Eaton it will see roughly 8 PSI. I see 13lbs now with the 2.76 pulley on it. I have a set of stock idlers that I took off when I put the billetflow set on it. If possible try a and find some with as low of mileage as possible on them. Mine were changed at 76K and you can definitely hear the bearings grinding in them when they are spun.
Thinking bout doing v8 swap myself. Also thinking about building a 4.3 stroker v6. Can't decide. Gotta do some research on building the stroker. Would be something unique for sure 😊 loved the video btw. Keep up the good work

I'm a owner of a 2000 mustang v6 performance red 🍒 color way and it's been a awesome car it has 165000 miles on it I'm the 3rd owner previous two were chp officers I got it at 127000 for 1700$ in 2017 and done upgrades from bbk black edition cold air intake, bbk shorty headers with magnaflow true duel cat back exhaust, bbk intake manifold 65mm, grill delete I did myself without American muscle kit, put in a new Holley high performance fuel pump with k&n fuel filter, ford performance fuel injectors and when I got it it was stock basically still besides rims I too always wanted a mach 1 or cobra but couldn't afford one I'm from graduating class of 08' so the new edges were still fairly new love this style the most I know the value on these are goin up because they are disappearing kids just like u said are wrecking them left and right totaling them. But thanks for this story I don't care what people say negative about v6s cause when they see my car everyone changes their mind about what they figure the v6s are supposed to be like. And my car ran 252 HP on dyno
There was a guy in high school who’s parents bought him a performance red 00 V6 5 speed with the black side rocker stripes. I really liked it. The kid didn’t care about it but I was envious. It was only 1-2 years old back then. I had my 97 laser red V6 and I was happy to have it but I wished I had that performance red V6 and of course a Mach 1, BULLITT, or a cobra.

Its a lot of work and money to swap in the V8. Its usually best to just sell the V6 and get the V8 if thats what you really want. On the other hand, if you are in love with your car it may be worth the money.
I'm 17 I got my first mustang when I was 16 it was a 2000 v6 mustang I traded it for my truck bc my sister needed a car for her baby and I had alot of plans for it but 8 months later the engine blew up then about 5 months of pouring concrete I bought a 2002 gt mustang standard and I dont abuse it but I play with it I've taken really good care of it and I found out about a month ago it has forged pistons and rods,47 pound injectors and I'm about to buy master blaster coils for it so it will run right again
