    This, I feel, is the best video to watch for more experienced "mechanical throw" players to watch for review or reminder purposes. I have been a consistently improved player since I started watching Dynamite Dave's videos and practicing every day. I miss a day or two once in a while, but not often!! I fell in love with this sport! I started with an average of 60 and am now up to a 75. in just a few seasons. Dave is an excellent teacher and his theories and methods to me are the most beneficial of anyone else's out there. But Dave is spot on when he says "you only get out what you are willing to put in".

    Since we're being taught to stand 90 degrees to the board shouldn't it be "fifth metatarsal to the oche"? Just doesn't have the same ring so toe it is. You're right about wanting to go back to your old ways Dave. You know I've been watching a long time but I have to say that it's only been within the last six to nine months that I've truly embraced standing with my foot at a full 90 degrees to the board. I was always fiddling with my stance until I finally said screw it and just did what you say even though it felt unnatural at first. And whadda ya know, it works! After watching today's video I realized I need to work on my shoulder position some. Also, just like 99.9% of your students, I feel like my throw is different from one dart to the next on a regular basis. I grew up bowling, ten pins not cricket, so I know the importance of a consistent throw and I tell myself that all the time but somehow it still evades me. Sometimes I can put three darts within a gnats ass apart and sometimes it's more like an elephants ass. I know that part of it is lack of concentration at times but sometimes it feels like my arm has a mind of it's own. As always, thanks for the help. Without you there would be many in the world without access to any kind of coaching whatsoever. I'm one of them and I certainly appreciate it. Thanks for the mention as well.

      Hi Bill lad hope your well I will open with this "that catch phase is just not happening" Lol
      Firstly fighting your conceived perceptions can be the hardest fight of all if you have thrown one way for many years then changing is generally a hard job but you are, living proof to all that You can do it and it does work.
      secondly as your throw becomes more mechanical the Navara that is the perfect reproduction gets closer and closer and the deliveries will feel more shall we say "the same".
      The gnats and elephant's is one of the most common problems I see its all about doing the same thing time in time out I do it like a baby routine dictates i.e. approach look down stance legs feet bang on, look up upper body right settle in, Looking at the smallest imperfection in the zone im aiming at arm up straight drop down to the lock n load upper arm horizontal forearm vertical and then straight back straight forward "TICK TOCK" then if its in its hit the flight of the first dart with the second if scoring or if finishing one out then aim for the barrel of the first with the second.
      and lastly you will be glad to hear lol
      As i have said many times you can thank the two young lads I just gave some free coaching to in a pub in my home town who talked me into making that first ever you tube video on my clacky old phone some years ago now if that chance encounter didn't happen then the Dynamite Dave way would still be just a very small number of player's instead of the many thousand's it is today. I think I owe them a drink or two if I ever bump into them again. Great message as always Bill all the best mate D Dave...

    Cracking tutorial again Dave , can I ask about the back foot , should it be shoulder width, but directly behind the front foot ?

    • @billkipper3264
      @billkipper3264 Před 4 lety +2

      Having watched Dave for a long time now that's how I do it. Shoulder width and rear foot parallel to the front. 60/40 weight distribution. Just make sure your feet are only shoulder width. I've been fitting ski boots for 35 years and can tell you from experience that most people think their shoulders are much wider than they are.

    • @DynamiteDaveLlewellyn
      @DynamiteDaveLlewellyn  Před 4 lety

      Assuming you have been working on it for a week or so the fix is dead simple buddy if your in the middle of the oche you should rotate your hips till your body is straight up the middle with the bull but the other elements need to be right to the stance n address vertical forearm and horizontal upper arm.. if this is right your down the middle should be good. Cheers Dynamite Dave...

    Hello Dave, only recently started making time to watch your video's and must say I am starting to get my appetite for the game back after feeling like a beginner each time I throw with a terrible effect on my enjoyment and the standard of my game ( been average for around 40 years LOL ). Can I ask, when adjusting up/down or left/right should my adjustment be from the waist? I have caught myself aiming by holding my dart in my eye line immediately below the target when my arm is extended and pulling back from there which has the effect of no two throws being the same.

    • @DynamiteDaveLlewellyn
      @DynamiteDaveLlewellyn  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Chris I will be addressing some common issues in the November edition of a chuck n chat out next week but when adjusting for upper and lower side variations the throw remains the same tilt at the hips so as if you were throwing for the 60 bed adjust your body so going for the 19s looks and feels the same and its surprising how little you adjust to achieve this. give it a go and if you need to have a coaching video from me and I will analyse where your going wrong and give you all the info to put it right. Cheers D Dave...

    I am still a bit confused as to the position of my head and eyes relative to the position of my arm. I was always used to throwing in line with my right eye and now I seem to be throwing about 5cm to the right side. It feels as if I am throwing across my line of site to accomplish the same as I did before. How do I correct this?

    Hey dave, appreciate the videos. Any tips for how to get your eye across your body for left eye dominant right handed throwers? I see you always talk “dart to the side of your head not in front of your eye” but for me i have no idea where that dart will go seeing as I’m left eye dominant as a righty. Maybe you made the video already and I haven’t come across it yet. Cheers, thanks in advance.

      @DynamiteDaveLlewellyn  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Stu buddy hope your well
      i dont believe in aiming the dart you aim a gun a bow or a catapult. you dont aim anything you throw or kick or swing. Eg when was the last time you saw anyone put a Cricket ball up to their eye. or a Cricket ball football Etc. Throwing darts is just that throwing just like throwing a ball just a much smaller motion. have a watch of this video buddy czcams.com/video/a5jtwEPHQd8/video.html
      then watch this one show you where you can get to if you stick to it... czcams.com/video/QTquTwsI6mc/video.html

    Hi Dave great video I have a problem with my grip when I hold the dart up to throw it the dart is twisted in my hand the flight catches my cheek when I pull it back to throw it feels very uncomfortable when I try to straighten it.Can u help please

    • @DynamiteDaveLlewellyn
      @DynamiteDaveLlewellyn  Před 4 lety

      Hi Graham you will have to work at it focus only on straightening the dart in your grip and forget where your darts land a massive problem with solving anomalies in your throw is trying to change and expecting it to work instantly. I can tell you it wont you have to have the faith that what you are doing is right the technique has to be right before the result will come. So isolate the swing focus on the tick tock motion and do it first empty handed using the salute practice.
      Then introduce the dart but dont throw it when your confident this is right only then throw the dart it will take time but I promise you if you stick to it it will work and make a massive difference to your game. Cheers Dynamite Dave...

    what ive you are right handed but left eye is dominant so crosseye like phil taylor, you still need to hold your arm next your head instead infront of your face?

    • @DynamiteDaveLlewellyn
      @DynamiteDaveLlewellyn  Před 4 lety +1

      If you holding the dart in front of your right eye then you cant see out of it this does not indicate a medical eye dominance in the left eye it just means you are blocking the vision of your right eye. I have coached hundreds of players some of which make this statement when we start and all but the ones with a medical condition dont have it an hour later.
      This is covered in this video buddy czcams.com/video/XdCm7X6Qzsw/video.html

    • @LegendAmaru
      @LegendAmaru Před 4 lety

      @@DynamiteDaveLlewellyn Yes your right, think the problem was because i hold my dart the same way as taylor and because i know my left eye is the dominant one, i thought i need to trow like taylor, but a solid stance and making a temple to your head realy helps i also try it with pear flights and i feel i have more control now, im now at the stage that i hit every 6-8 dart where i want it to be but alot improvement has come this morning session with changing my stance to more solid a and making a temple to my arm is more 90 degrees and with the pear flights. also thanks for the fast reaction!

    Does wheelchair users have an advantage when it comes to throwing darts? I always like your videos, keep it up. You’re doing a great job as a CZcamsr 👍

    • @DynamiteDaveLlewellyn
      @DynamiteDaveLlewellyn  Před 4 lety

      Hi Craig its a two edge sword it can be argued that its stable but also restrictive as you cannot move laterally across the oche like we shuffle in a second it takes time to move the chair and interrupts your rhythm. I find when I throw from the chair its very alien and a bit restrictive but also very stable the only fear is tipping the chair over leaning to far as I have said on a few occasions I am doing some research into wheelchair and disabled Darts to try to formulate a basic mechanical throw that can improve the disable dart players Game.

      @@craigalderson5623 Consider building a custom chair with your buddies. It would have wheels alright, but the seat would be on a lockable swivel. Positioning wheels parallel to the oche and then angling the seat to a pre-set angle would give you easy movement laterally while giving your upper body machine-line consistency.

      Hi Claire I assume you mean Sunday when I had the great privilege of being asked to attend the disabled Darts meeting at the Stockport Lads club. The invite came from a great Friend of the channel and myself Tom Snoopy Wilson.
      I spent a couple of hours there but unfortunately had to leave early due to another appearance I had booked. I met some fantastic and inspirational people there including Ben who started and runs the events, the disabled darts legend Phil Lees and the world WDDA coordinator. and a massive thanks to the WDDA founder Russ Noble.
      I have cleared my diary for next months meeting I will be including some of my thoughts and experiences in a video soon. Cheers Dynamite Dave...
