Trimping Explained In 60 Seconds (TFConnect)

- I was asked to create a short video for the TFConnect charity event, so here's a very brief trimping tutorial.
This is by no means an advanced guide. If I went over everything, I'd be here all day. But if you're new to trimping... At least it covers the things you should know, starting off.
I have a fairly large script written down for a more advanced charging guide, and this will be the next project for me to tackle. Though you might remember that I had a very large video about the Tide Turner in the works. I was making this video on my old PC, so getting the project files working on the new PC is a pain that I want to save for some other time. Not to mention how overly complex it ended up being... I know LazyPurple's pain now.

ok solarlight
Always love a good solarlight video
Yo is this a cover of metal harbour?
what animation pack for demo do you use
Epic pro gamer
I love how a games brokenness has lead to a balanced, interesting mechanic
it's how rocket jumping started back in quake days
Valve quite literally discovered 2 movement bugs and decided "yeah this should be in the game"
@@storyofsharplyon I suppose that there is heaps of bugs that worked in valves favour in tf2
Its more like an unintended feature because of how source works on a base level
Like about 90% of fighting game mechanics
Go you man. Can we get a longer form video where you explain as much as you can on the mechanics and how you Got Good?
A video all about charge tech is the next project I'm tackling

Thank you solar light, I've been practicing trimping for about 3 years and I didn't even know about the slope rules!
Liar.
This it's a truly trimping moment,
(Good explanation as always!)
Always best to learn from the master himself.
Finally , someone that explains this
It never occured to me to tap both the Jump Key and Charge key at the same time....my mind is blown and it is time to make use of this new found information. many thanks shiny red feather hat guy!
You jest, but I have killed many players who did not know that the demoknight can press the space bar right before charging
@@SolarLight No im actually not joking, i did not know that you could do that and it feels very different in doing so.
As a newbie when it comes to trimping, I'm taking all this info in. Also, completely understandable for my 20iq brain to remember.
As an average demoknight main, i'd love to share this to other demoknight newbies who just discovered the sword and the shield

Good stuff, I’ve been looking for Trimping tutorials but most the vids out there are “CHECK OUT THIS SECRET TRIMP SPOT”, not actually explaining why/how. Thanks for both the tips and trimps.
so clean tutorial, short and simple, thank you!
I just recently figured out how trimping works on my own, and for that week, I never had more fun playing tf2.
Top quality stuff right there SolarLight, i shall strive to let your genius inspire new heights of demo jumpscares all over tf2
Honestly your trimping videos and frag videos is what makes me play demoknight and i enjoy it
I love you for using SA2's Green Forest theme in this, you couldn't have picked a better song
Thanks for the Trimping map solar your my favourite youtuber and got me into demoknight so now i main it
Super good information in a little amount of time. Cheers!
My favorite part was when SolarLight said "it's Trimpin' time" and then trimped all over the place.
Definitly, one of the plays of all time
xddddddddddddddddddddd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
stop
@@cheesepop7175i agree
pls return we miss the killstreaks and pubstomping
Thank you for this concise tutorial!
What helped me the most is forgetting EVERYTHING i learned about bunnyhopping. Just hold W and think of it like you are drifting a Car, the further you angle in, the more your trajectory follows.
Glad to be here for your TEDTalk
It was very fun to see it live at the stream
the song during the explanation gave me so much nostalgia! like - y e s
That explanation helps. No wonder I couldn't understand how trimping works, I have been doing it wrong for the steep slopes.
Yes, finally a very easy to understand video of trimping
this is actually more helpful than i expected
Ramp : **Exists**
SolarLight : *Your free trial of medic.exe has expired*
Green forest as the background song is so fitting.
I literally started maining demoknight after your last frag vid. also picked up a prof killstreak aussie eyelander and im planning to have your name in the description for my inspiration
Names for that eyelander: "Solarlight's simp" "we have DKTF2 at home" "Got your nose (and rest of head)"
lol thanks
Thank you for this divine knowledge, Solar. Fledgling Demoknights everywhere can really benefit from it.
This explains a lot for me about demoknight I think I can up my game now thanks Solarlight
JUST WHEN I NEEDED IT MOST
this genuenly made me understand trimping for the first time
i wish you talked more in your vids, ur voice is very smooth and nice to listen to
Great crash course mr. demoknight tf2
Thx for the assistance mate
Chad. Nothing to say. Compact as hell
that actually really helped thank you
This geniunley helped me trimp
very useful tutorial
bro explained how strafe and trimp better then other guides
"Every class is hard"
Me playing friendly hoovy class: POOTIS
first person i see where they actually go a little more in depth on how to do it instead of "you'll get the feel of it"
Trimp as medic using the quickfix
I'll take this as a sign to play TF2 again during smissmas.
Literally explained the whole 10 minute of tutorial in 60 second
"Every class is hard" heavy, pyro, medic, engineer, spy:
A very helpful 60 seconds of my life
TF2 is my favorite modern sonic game with momentum physics
looking forward to your more detailed trimping video because i want to know how to trimp using the other shields (not tide turner)
Man thanks for joking around I have 10 hours on demo man and heavy was my least played class so I had to play him
Solar: I'm gonna explain to you how to trimp in 60 seconds!
Me: Woah! Thanks! Its so co-
Solar: Alright! You got the basics? Now lemme explain the trimping to you in more details. In *74 minutes.*
You definitely demonstated night tea for two
i got my shield when i joined in smismas it was the strong boi the tide turner when i equiped it i litreally just did an trimp idk how im actually noob in demoknight thats why i watch your videos you are my inspire to pick demoknight
Smooth Butter
I like your funny words flying drunk man
"Im joking every class is hard."
Pyro, Soldier and Heavy: *Are we a joke to you?*
Try doing a soldier rollout
You're the type of guy that would think that if they play Spy Sniper or Engineer they're instantly more intelligent than other people
Demoknight sees slope -> Neuron Activation.
With a title like this, I kinda expected Solar to just pull from GLADoS' book and just a 30 minute video at 30 times speed.
"You go **AUGGGHHHH** at funny angle floor to fly at mach 9, Or while turning, and you fly at mach 10"
lovely
Wow! I've never heard your voice, it is pretty nice.
Holding W while strafing in the air helps you go a lot further btw
Oh god, now the Scotish can fly
WE NEED MORE DEMOKNIGHT TF2
man really had to include a bibliography for a meme
respectable
trimping is something that was really prevalent in Fortress Forever, however it's definition is totally different there. Essentially it was when you bunnyhop on a slope, your second jump has more vertical momentum and less horizontal momentum
Sounds bit like crouch hopping a downward slope in counter-strike games
Demolition warrior from the second installment of a military stronghold
"biggest brain class" yet shows themselves being dominated by others.
good sumerian for showing it though. :)
Sometimes i usually do the The extender like a Demoknight tf2 :)
I shall learn
"If you don't play medic you are stupid"

1:07 somehow i did remade that irl when i was in a hurry for buying snacks in the school until my phone fell off
When an error becomes a feature.
We need a market garden for Demoman
i had one experience with a really good demoknight where he just charged at me and my sentry and absoloutly destroyed it
My brain to slow to trimp

Pyro: Bold of you to assume I require any functioning brain cell to be played and mastered.
bruh, is that for w+m1 or the scorch shot ?
@@roxtor8473 Just Pyro in general.
@@cristianovogt5586 like flare punching, using panic attack/degreaser combo, using de dragon's fury ?

ah so THAT's how you charge up nearly straight walls
This explains how melee is perfectly balanced as all things should be, just like Demoknight TF2 xD
A-train after discorver it: 🤯
I was just about to sleepw hen i saw this
Jokes on you, this still isn't faster than my attention span.
Basically: Demoman can swim through air to become aircraft, ramps allow Demoman to swim through air but on the ground.
holy hell
"Every class is hard" that is the joke
solarlight more like solar flare
13k hours Ex tf2 enjoyer here trimping was fun back in my days (haven't played since 2016) Charge Swing *AIR BLAST* MEEEEEEDIC BLOODY HELL Repeat
