EDIT 29/03/2021: A little while after the video was released, I received some shirts among other physical items (like water bottles) from FACEIT. Nothing particularly valuable, but it is a very kind gesture. FACEIT has been giving out these random items to various content creators for free, without asking for anything in return. For example, Jbird received the same gifts without being required to make a video in return. All he did was make a tweet, and I'm pretty sure he didn't even have to do that. I can also confirm that these items were not delivered to me in return for making this video specifically, it seems they just want to be nice to the TF2 community.
I can't edit the video to include these items in the disclaimer, and since this happened after the video was released, I don't think I need to. However, Zesty Jesus and a bunch of others (namely a few cheaters wanting to tarnish FACEIT's name) have started conspiracies that FACEIT is illegally doing under the table sponsorships. Simply put, this is an incredibly offensive lie based on nothing but speculation, that attacks the character of all of these CZcamsrs. I didn't want to talk about Zesty in any way, but his rabid followers pestering me (and many other youtubers) about it has forced me to make a statement here.
The dude makes fun of Valve News Network presumably for all of the speculation that guy made, but then Zesty goes and speculates himself, and (intentionally or not) uses his platform as a weapon to swing at other CZcamsrs. Hypocritical, and arguably worse. I do understand that including this in the description sort of does the same thing in a smaller way, but I have no idea why Zesty hasn't gotten more flak for attacking other creators like this.
I can respect him as a content creator, but if he's going to attack me and others based on nothing but speculation, and then send his fans to attack us (intentionally or not), then that's where it goes too far.

Over a year later, I've decided to pin this new comment to share my thoughts on why this failed. It doesn't really warrant an entire new video, too late for that now.
    • Creating a 12v12 matchmaking system is hard. Since it was always going to have a smaller number of active players than Casual mode, they had to make compromises with map choice to speed up queue times, and even then they were still fairly slow and games would often be unbalanced.
    • Prizes incentivized very skilled competitive players to queue in 6-man parties together, with the goal of steamrolling the games as fast as possible, just to get the prizes ASAP. This didn't happen every game at first, but as Casual players started to leave the service, it increasingly became more and more of a problem.
    • Prizes incentivized the constant use of some of the most broken or annoying weapons/strategies in the game.
    • In Casual mode, broken weapons are usually fine because you only encounter maybe one person at most doing an annoying "thing" at a time, but in FACEIT it was common for basically the entire team to resort to some of TF2's least fun tactics. It ended up being a good showcase for why competitive modes tends to ban certain weapons. If the entire team tries really hard, the game breaks, unless you add weapon and class restrictions.
    • Certain cheaters and CZcamsrs created a rather unnecessary panic over the kernel anti-cheat. CS:GO players use FACEIT just fine, but TF2 players are rather gullible and FACEIT is an unfamiliar name to them, making these players easy to scare off with just a few overdramatic statements.
    • Rather than have the anticheat work like it did in CS:GO, where all players are required to use it... They decided to only enforce the anticheat on players with a supposed high risk of cheating. This only ended up frustrating people since it would often select completely random people. If it just told everyone to use the anticheat, less people would have cared.
    • Overdramatic videos about the supposed "competitive" nature of FACEIT ended up scaring potential Casual players away from the service, which only made the problem worse rather than better. It would be better if people were civil and provided ideas to solve problems, rather than needlessly whining.
    • FACEIT were very, very slow to address the issues. They are apparently working on it, but even if they pushed an update now, their first impression was ruined by these issues. They'd have to do a No Man's Sky styled redemption arc.
    • Uncletopia pretty much does what FACEIT wanted to do anyway.
It's a shame. This is probably one of the biggest missed opportunities TF2 has had.

      @Bnvnu Před rokem +4

Dude, you hit the nail on the head with that first point, why are you trying to justify yourself "oh it's the fault of the community, they weren't happy with the platform's problems, why don't they do our job instead of whining" because it's YOUR JOB, not mine! And if the community's suggestion were taken at face value, you would quickly recognize that they're not good at it! The only one responsible of this failure are the creators, no matter how "insensible" and "overactive" it could be, if those problems are not fixed, I leave and do/play something else, simple as that, this blunder rest upon their shoulders.

So to clear up some bs from this video.
The AntiCheat seems to work, which is amazing, great job. HOWEVER.
The FaceIt "casual" IS NOT CASUAL. The timer mode on payload maps sucks, it makes the games really short, but it is a nice idea, so maybe just tweak it.
Because of all the prices and leaderboard bullshit theres so many sweaty tryhards. Not to mention you cannot leave the match without punishment. I just wanna play, not have to deal with ladders and shit. Also, as mentioned, ONLY 9 MAPS.
You're either on the winning team, or the loosing team, there's no in-between.
Now it might just take time for the ranking system to properly asses everyone's skill level and start matching properly, so this might not be an issue anymore in few weeks, but for now ballance is a serious issue.
The prices? HAHA, ONLY IF YOU BUY THE MONTHLY PREMIUM. The FaceIt points you get on free account are pennies, you get points only from completing missions and the missions with high rewards are locked behind premium. So unless you plan on paying the monthly premium, or plan to sink in MANY hours, don't expect to get any prices for a long time before you save up.
Overall, while FaceIt sells this as "casual 12v12", it is not. It's what a competitive player with 5k hours *thinks* is casual.

Also that Anti-cheat is something you download if you have been reported like ever, if someone got pissed at you and reported it you have to download the anti-cheat. honestly, I don't really want to go over. I LOVE the fact that they show interest in the game, but it's just a supposedly better competitive mode. I've never been much interested in comp.
I don't really know how to properly put it into words, but I can try. I once heard someone try to explain the reason people play tf2 still. It wasn't the weapons, it wasn't the movement tactics, it wasn't the bugs, it wasn't the hats. It was the randomness.
Think about it. When a new FPS game comes out, how long do you play it for, on average? You normally play the story mode, then go play in the multiplayer, if it has one, and then you eventually get tired of it, and put it down. And everytime you try to pick it back up, your average play time goes down, and down, and you play it less and less often. Why? Most of the time, people will say because it's boring. They say that every match up goes the same way. Either someone get's an overpowered gun, or an o.p. power up, or something like that, and goes on a tear, and kills everyone and everything.
But, when people put tf2 down, they always seem to come back. Sure some of the mechanics may be a bit flawed, cough cough melee cough cough, but the game is fun to play. When you think about a funny moment about tf2, you probably think of something really silly, like when that stock fists heavy went on a rampage, and killed half your team, by w+m1-ing at you with his fists and getting random crits every other hit. Or maybe you think of the time the entire server went friendly, because some random hoovy travelled the entire way to the enemies intel, and started dancing on the bridge with it. Or maybe, maybe you think about the time an a-pose, spinning scout capped three times, all by himself, because god damn it, no cosmetic a-pose characters are god damn scary. Or maybe... never mind, you get the point. All of that, was random. It wasn't something that was going to happen, sure it was probably bound to happen sooner or later, but when it happened, that was random.
That's why people play casual tf2. Because of the randomness. And what faceit is doing, making a "casual" tf2, which is basically comp, they are removing randomness. Now, some people will like it, probably the ones that play comp more than casual, and that's fine. But personally? I think I'll stick with good old wacky tf2, the only game where one dancing player can cause an entire lobby of 24 players to stop shooting each other, and have fun dicking around.

How they enforce rules against """toxic""" players and whether or not I can play my endless nightmare deathmatches on 2fort and turtlebine with no round timer are the make-or-break factors for me.
All too often, rules against """toxic""" players just turns into blatant speech and thought policing in a video game where saying something factual but controversial is seen as """toxic""" because people get whiny about it and don't know what the mute feature is for. Improved tools for individual control over what you see from your fellow players is the correct approach. Flat-banning anyone who uses one of many buzz words that only FACEIT gets to dictate as 'prohibited speech' is an immediate deal breaker for me.
A lot of why I enjoy tf2 is the ridiculousness of it both in playstyles and meme loadouts, as well as people being loud, obnoxious, edgy, or bickering with each other. Lenny face bind spam and impromtu political arguments-turned-peeing-contests are part of the enjoyability of tf2 memery. For those that don't wanna hear that, great, give them an even more extensive mute system that works client-side, but seems to me FACEIT is just gonna go the approach of "no hate speech" and then re-define "hate speech" on a whim based on whatever current social issues say what words should never be uttered on or offline, which I loathe.
Valve already put in hugbox chat filters, that's MORE than enough. FACEIT demanding players use or don't use certain words or tones of voice in text or voice communication in-game is crossing a line they have no business crossing.
As for endless ctf, I like it because they end up being endless deathmatches that don't really require teamwork. I know it's ironic in a team-based game, but some (according to player stats, *many* ) people just wanna do their own thing in tf2, from a friendly hoovy throwing sandviches to farming kills for an absolutely useless strange weapon like the man-o-war. You can't do any of that in real games where everybody has to pull their own weight or you lose. 2fort and turtlebine are my bread and butter when I wanna relax and not care about whether or not my team is braindead. I can do my own thing for however long I want, and I have relative confidence the other team is doing much the same, so encounters are often either chaotic messes where crazy stuff can happen, or 1v1 encounters thanks to the lack of team coordination on both sides, which gives useless/meme/unorthodox playstyles WAY more value and because you're under WAY less stress while you play your own way instead of a way useful to everybody else on your team.
Any big coordinated teamwork that *DOES* happen on 2fort or turtlebine happens organically. People naturally just come together to help their teammates based on a shared desire to keep the game going for as long as possible, or bring it to a swift end. That drive can result in really epic situations that I've been in many times where things suddenly evolve into really tense all-or-nothing strategies and plays where numerous players are shouting callouts of impending pushes, counter ubers are readied for the sole purpose of pushing back out an enemy uber, well-timed spy sap-rushes followed by a soldier push, or a good old-fashioned engy empire where more than half the team are engineers holed up in one spot, effectively created a giga-chokepoint built out of raw teamwork. ctf and turtlebine turn into a battle of team will. Which team's will is strongest? The team that wants the game to keep going, or the team that wants the match to end? I've been on both sides and it's amazingly fun when neither side iwll budge. That kind of organic and uncertain level of chaos is why I only play 2fort and turtlebine like 98% of the time. I either get a chill memey game full of edgy boiz or dumb surprises, or one of the most intense and enjoyable experiences that (in my opinion) tf2 has to offer.
