  • This video is all about the USS Voyager. Two builds, the standard and clear versions. In this video I paint the standard edition and light the clear editions. We look at how to run the wires through the hinges, two paint schemes, and we look at the optional landing legs.

    I've watched a few of these model builds and all the builders a very passionate about Star Trek and their builds, I don't have the patience or a steady hand, mine would look a mess, they do look very good once built. I like ST Voyager myself and think that it could have gone on for more more than 7 seasons, with better scripts. The ships look fab!!

    I just bought this kit and found your video. I am new to model building and found your video very helpful! There are a few other videos out there that just confused me, but you explained everything very clearly for a newbie like me!

    Wow this Voyager looks so much better than the old Revell/Monogram Kit and there even is a clear Version.
    I took me ages to drill out all the windows and to scratch build all of the missing or incorrect Details on the Revell one.
    Can't wait to get my hands on this one :)

    I was surprised and worried about the completion because I painted the clear edition without masking the outer small window, but it was completely unexpected to remove the paint only on the small window part, and I was really impressed that it was efficient.👍

    I am not really a fan of Voyager (the ship) but this kit - especially the clear edition - looks really good; probably one of the best in the 1/1000 range.

    I did a Revell voyager lit up which looked pretty good, which I built for a friend but I might see if I can get a hold of a clear one f I want one for myself. I found this video really useful; I didn't realise light blocking just using exterior paint wouldn't work and that would've led to a terrible mistake- I have a couple clear Enterprise D's, one which has a Nebula conversion kit. Tempted to maybe to the polar lights Voyager first as practice in case things go wrong!

    Subscribed! I don't have the 1/1000 scale but I have 3 of the larger kits. One I built about 25 years ago before cheap LEDs and had to be lit with Christmas lights! Of course now I use LEDs. You keep it simple and the results are excellent! Subscribed!

    "SPECIAL EIDTION" LOL. :) Oh man, it's just not Voyager without those impulse engines lit! I'd sure like one of these fully lit with the Borg modifications. Uh-oh, there's an unlit window on the starboard side of the dorsal saucer.

    I've never worked on a clear kit before, but I wonder if it might help to use an exacto around the edges of the window first, so you don't accidentally scratch off the surrounding paint as well?

    • @robk5865
      @robk5865 Před 3 lety

      I'm watching Trek Work's latest build. He was saying that when cutting out windows, it's impossible to keep things even from window to window and it really shows when they're lit up. With paint scratching you can be more precise.

    I just got the clear kit for voyager and am pouring over how you and others lit it up. I've done a bit with just led strips and diodes, but not both together. I'm wondering about the diode that connects to the LED strip on the NaCells, Did you just connect it directly to the end of the strip positive to negative and do you have a resistor hiding in there I just cant see? Are your LED strips 12V or 5V? This absolutely looks incredible!

    How much putty work have you done, especially on the clear version, from the video the molding and fit didn't look as good as the normal one ?
    I build the revell one and light blocking the seams was the horror.

    • @OurayMountainModels
      @OurayMountainModels Před 3 lety +2

      Very little putty work on this one. the parts fit inside each other so you really don't need to do much at all for light blocking. It's all the extra layers of paint that made the clear version not fit as well as the standard
