    Thanks for the video. Managed to get a spare out of the junkyard. Just gonna swap them along with the new carpet & stereo. For those with heat, don't forget to unhook that black throttle cable that runs to the passenger side before you remove the unit. The bulbs are supposedly size 74. Easy on the rice.

    What do you mean when you said led lights are not stable ? I'm planning to change mine and you got me confused. Aren't led more long lasting , more energy efficient and more safe in general than the factory lights ?

    • @DraftProject
      @DraftProject  Před 2 lety +1

      Sorry for the confusion. Let me fix that explanation. Yes you are right. LEDs are good in general except for the cheap ones. I happened to used a cheap LED bulbs and as expected, they weren't good at all. What I said there is supposed to refer to the cheap LED bulbs that I've used. Sorry for I have not made it clear in the video.
      As long as they were branded or decent in reputation and price, its fine. Don't use cheap LEDs. They might be good at first but most likely, it won't last at all.

    Im not trying to remove mine but my lights sometimes work very very very rarely and most of the time they don't light up how do I make them work all the time? Thanks

    • @DraftProject
      @DraftProject  Před 3 lety

      Hi sir! In your case, there are two reasons why it won't light up. First, the bulb could be loose. The socket could deteriorate overtime due to heat and vibrations, causing it to have problems with its terminal contacts. The second one is the bulb is busted. There are scenarios where it would work or sometimes it won't. It could simply indicates that the bulb is broken or sometimes the terminal of the bulb is broken.
      The best way to fix it is to check the condition of the bulbs. You need to dismantle everything like what I did in the video. Once you replaced it with a new one, it will surely fix your problem. :)

  • @bullzeyes23
    @bullzeyes23 Před 2 lety

    Is the climate control light and edometer linked together? Both of mine stopped working but fuse no 19 is fine. I'm not sure if u have video of how to troubleshoot. Thanks

    • @DraftProject
      @DraftProject  Před 2 lety

      Yes, both climate control and instrument are connected together. If the fuse for the instrument light broke off, then both of them will stop working. Unfortunately I don't have any video for that. What I can suggest you is to try checking all of the fuses. If they are all fine, then here comes the difficult part. You have to dismantle either of the two. It could be the instrument gauge or the climate control. Once you dismantled, check the contact points of the bulb socket for power supply. You can use a tester for that job.
      Another thing that is also possible is that both lights broke off coincidently. Can be hard to believe but it might be true sometimes.
      Hope this helps. Thank you and take care.

    Any ideas why my fan that goes on the passenger's legs does not turn on, I already changed the climate control

    • @DraftProject
      @DraftProject  Před rokem

      Perhaps the problem might be on the mode control module located on the side of the A/C cabin. If all other modes work except for the leg mode, then the control module might not be the problem. Maybe try checking the linkages on the A/C cabin. It could be something that is disconnected or perhaps broken.

    Great video! Do you think that doing a climate control relocate to the top JDM double din will have enough wiring to not have to extend it? I have a double din radio that I’ve been wanting mount where the radio and climate controls are. I cut the middle out of a spare bezel and had it wrapped. Just can’t find any info on wiring. Thanks in advance for any help.

    • @DraftProject
      @DraftProject  Před 2 lety

      Sorry, I cannot say for sure. As far as I can see, the climate control harness can extend only to where it is. Relocating it to the top like above the dashboard or on the vents is not likely to be possible. You can relocate it under the single din radio where the center console is placed.
      For the radio, depending on the unit of the double din radio, the wires can extend a little bit on the upper part of the bezel as long as it is not altered or customized.
      Wiring diagrams for the climate control is a bit hard to find. You can rely on those service manual that are free from the internet.
      One thing you can do about extending the harness is cut the wires one by one. You cut it, then extend and connect to the plug. Then proceed with the next wire. This is helpful if you don't have any diagrams.
      For the radio diagrams, you can check these links.
      headcontrolsystem.com/honda-stereo-wiring-diagram-collection/
      headcontrolsystem.com/95-honda-civic-stereo-wiring-diagram-pics/
      Try to double check everything and make sure the battery is disconnected when doing any electrical job. Thank you very much. I hope this helps.

    • @tankerboii7523
      @tankerboii7523 Před 5 měsíci

      It's doable, got a 94 civic and I did that, relocated the A/C controls where the center console is, there's more than enough wiring for it, I just cut a little bit off on the temperature metal wire, where it connects on the mechanism in the bottom where the glovebox is, because it was too long. And I just made some brackets and bolted it up.

    • @DraftProject
      @DraftProject  Před 4 lety +1

      No sir, it won't work at all unless you modify the bezel on the dashboard. The Radio slot has a smaller dimension inside and you cannot insert the climate control. On the other side which is the climate control slot, it has a bigger dimension and it is spacious inside. You can put the radio but it won't be secure because the opening is too large for the radio and there will be gaps. Also, there are plastic brackets to consider inside. It would be a big work to make it happen.

      Hi sir! Sorry for the late response. About dimming the LED bulbs, are you refering to the use of a dimmer switch? If yes, I do not have a dimmer switch in my car which means I wasn't able to dim it. Even if I have a dimmer switch, perhaps I could dim it, but based on the bulb I've used in 2016, there is a possibility that it could become unstable due to the poor quality of the LED bulbs.

      @@matteo4908 Also, there is something I want to add. If you have a 1998 Honda Civic with a vertical climate control, the bulbs are different. Based on my research, the bulb seems to be attached to the socket itself. I saw most of the post in the internet that they replace it with a new bulb that has a socket already which is a plug and play. It is a bit confusing since most them are debating whether to use a #24 or #74 bulb. I haven't tried fixing a Civic EKs climate control so I could not really say.
      But these are my findings. The vertical climate control uses a #24 bulb with a socket attached to it. The horizontal climate control ones has #74 bulbs which is similar to the Civic EG.
      It is also better to make some research too or you can disassemble everything and take the bulb as sample so you will get the right size of bulb.

    Aren’t the LED’s polarity sensitive meaning you’d have to plug the unit in as a test to see if they turn on? Cause then you’d be putting your entire climate control back on just to find out the bulbs have to be turned over….😐

      Yes. But you don't need to put everything back together. No need to reinstall all the parts and inserting it back to the dashboard. You just have to insert the bulb then plug the main socket only and turn on the headlight switch too see if it works. For instance, you are just testing it bare bone, without any plastic cover and etc. Just the two bulbs and the main socket being plugged in are needed to test it.

      Not all leds are polarity sensitive. The ones I just bought were not. 👍

      I see! So it really depends too on the LED. Thank you for that info. That should be it.

      It is a T5 peanut light bulb. You can get it at any auto supply store or car accessories shop. If you want a specific brands for the light bulbs, try Koito (Japan made) or Narva (German made) for a durable replacement bulbs. :)

      ¡Hola! Lo siento, estoy un poco confundido. ¿Puedo preguntarle si se refiere a la cara de plástico del control de clima o la carcasa de plástico en sí? Saludos tambien!

      Hi! Sorry I'm a bit confused. May I ask if you are referring to the plastic face of the climate control or the plastic housing itself? Greetings too!

      @@DraftProject buenas. A la cara de plastico. El frente solo. Quitando el tornillo solo. Ya despues sale haciendo palanca. Si es solo cambiar las lamparas. 👍🏼

      @@Pedone_EG ¡Oh sí! Así es. En realidad, no es necesario desmontar todo como hice en el video. Hice eso porque quiero limpiar todo antes de volver a instalarlo en el auto. Es una cosa opcional para hacer jeje. Gracias por el consejo. ¡Salud! ¡Ten cuidado!

      Oh yep! That's right. Actually there is no need to dismantle everything like what I did in the video. I did that because I want to clean everything before reinstalling it back to the car. It's an optional thing to do hehe. Thank you for that tip. Cheers! Stay safe!
