To be fair, everyone I've ever known who dressed this level of goth has been exactly like this.
Yes!
Is that being fair, really? To be honest with you!
💯 that was me
Thats exactly what I was thinking
completely true for everyone I have known that dresses that goth. no offense but sometimes I wonder why are you dressing so extreme if you are trying to act so vanilla
They legit just wanted to dress up.
They're on a long-running late-night sketch show that has very talented hair, make-up, and costume people. If it were you, you'd do the same.
yup!
if I was part of the cast I'd try to get into fun costumes as often as possible as well.
This is one of Ben Marshall’s previous characters - the original sketch is super funny as well
I honestly don't know what I just watched, but they looked great!
Yeah it's comedy
Honestly they seem a whole lot nicer than 95% of the all random people on the subway...and 100% nicer than my own family.
As most goths are lmao
Then you need help ,ASAP !
Except for judging that one guy's hat.
Most goths I've known (me at one time included) are really nice. I think because we're expressing ourselves, and it's mostly about self-expression, not making a statement, like punks (who are in-general, also surprisingly chill -unless you're a douche)
Love goths!
“Who are you calling?”
“The fashion police”
😂😂 Love these sketches so much
Goths actually do that!
I love that their sketches all take place in a tiny office.
Uh, is that irony? THEY'RE THE WRITERS.
@@rickrose5377 What’s your point?
@@coojar
These guys are not part of the regular cast, they are the writing staff. The office is their workplace at Thirty Rock -- it's where they dream this shit up. The bits are their fantasies as writers for the show. Of course that's where the bits take place.
@@rickrose5377 Yeah, no shit. I just said that I liked that it took place in an office.
Everyone give the original commenter a break. Lonely Island had two out of three ppl who were just writers but their sketches were out in the world. It’s noteworthy that all their sketches take place in their office
That Disneyland joke was hilarious especially if you ever went to Disneyland on a Friday night in the mid to late 90's, a lot of goths.
Also Bats Day in the Fun Park or Goth Day at Disneyland which started in 1999
@@gargoylguy Came here just to say this
If you went anywhere in the late 90's there were a lot of goths.
I assume that was the Nightmare Before Christmas effect, lol
Oh I remember that trying to find somewhere to smoke a clove
"Those rat bastards..." Bruh, that joke landed where I'm at.
One of my favorite sayings lol
that bit absolutely paralyzed me. we need more of this.
Laughing in Irish.
can you explain?
My FAVORITE part of this skit is HOW THEY NAILED 90'S SHOW THEME SONGS!! The overhead shot of a city, the font, the voice, it was all there!
They're old enough to remember those.
The only thing missing is Bob Saget! (RIP)
@@LazyIRanch he was a pedo I heard
I'm thinking more of the '80s. '94, the yr Full House ended, began the era of more sophisticated sitcoms and their theme songs.
🎶 _"Sometimes the jokes don't land"_ 🎶
*sometimes the Jokes don't land"...
Three normal goth guys
*SPLAT*
Totally did not. But….. we still love them
@@kaylaswanson9918 it did if you're goth or goth adjacent or know any actual goths.
As a goth. This is actually how we are lmao
Hahahaha for real, also as a goth, my reaction through the whole sketch was, Oops, well, I guess the whole world knows the truth now hahaha!
@@crystalanderson1770 we just mundane people who snuggle our cats but wear cool clothes and dance like a bird
@@RedMoonCreates Slightly more skulls than expected in the home decor. Takes a parasol on hikes. I'm seriously a regular old basic bitch who wears all black and thinks it's Halloween all year
@@RedMoonCreates Live, Laugh, Love... FOR REMEMBER YOU SHALL DIE
We know.
Goth sent here by another goth. Nailed the look, perfect perfect perfect. And yes, we mostly live perfectly normal lives.
Just DO NOT interrupt when the music is playing. 🖤 🦇 ⚰️ 🥀
The “normal” goth dog and kid just had me in stitches.😆😉
“They’re surprisingly judgy when it comes to other people’s fashion choices.” So, not that different from what other people do then?🙃
Exactly... but the irony misses them.
@@peanutbutterdragon4105 the irony is part of the skit. Love SNL.
That's why they're 3 normal goths!
@@joeblow5087 the goth character's they portray miss the irony.
TBH I’ve never met a goth who’d judge someone for wearing a fedora. Judge someone for wearing blue jeans, yes, but they’d love the fedora.
These guys NEED their own show. They're way too good to be doing two minute skits.
They have a youtube channel where they have more varied stuff. I don't want to get in trouble for posting links, so I'll just post both channel names:
Please Don't Destroy
Ben Marshall
@@kellylockwood8287 oh I've seen everything they've put out, but they still deserve a high budget series.
Right
They are also writers on the show. They don’t just do these shorts
But their skits are vastly superior to 99% of all the other sketches. They need their own vehicle to maximize their talents.
I was resistant to the Please Don’t Destroy stuff at first but these pre tapes have become one of the best parts of SNL. Kudos to Lorne and everyone involved for seeing the potential of having 3 dudes, who don’t appear in the show otherwise, create stuff like this. 47 year old show still trying new things. You have to respect it.
I feel like Lorne deserves a lot of credit for managing to shift with the times for so long. I can't imagine just about anyone else managing.
They’re hilarious!! Im sure it doesn’t hurt that the shorter one with brown hair is the son of Jimmy Fallon’s lead guy. The older one with the glasses 👓.. all 3 are talented but definitely had a foot in the door
I'm guessing it also give them a bit more time to do setup and get ready for the next skit maybe?
Same on the trying part but during every one of their bits all I can hear is the 3 sad virgins song.
Perfect comedy involves not knowing where the joke is gonna land. This is just perfect comedy😂😂😂
Agreed. That's why family guy fizzled out. It got to where the gist of the punchline was going through your head while they were still setting up the joke
Edit; except Adam West. Dudes character always cracked me up, all the way through
I really didn’t want this end! I could watch 3 normal goths for days
I couldn't. I'm happy it ended.
I'd like to see em leave the office and go on adventures together 😺
These skits brighten up my little goth life in the dark existence of Norway.
@Menilek Mulugeta Of course she is!!
You’re welcome to switch lives with me here in cold, gloomy, authoritarian northeast China.
@@roxythefoxsayfurismurderan3187 nah, I'm good over here. I do like the dark.
@@elizabethbathory6144 heeeeeeey, girl, hey! ♥
You liked this sketch? Then I hates it.
It’s like if Noel Fielding and Russell Brand had three normal children.

Children of the Goth Detectives
@@elherb4811 "goth detectives" yessssss
Oh shit yess!!!
this comment thread makes me happy
We definitely need more “three normal goths” sketches! Thanks, Please Don’t Destroy!
Yes, I need this to be a reoccurring bit! With rotating cameos from SNL regulars and/or the guest hosts.
"I want abs, but I want pizza more." Story of my life. 🤣
Same. 😮
Story of everyone's life. That's why they included it in this sketch about how normal these guys are.
This just proves everyone looks better dressed as a goth
Yessss
Yes!!!
Remember when Hillary Clinton was photoshopped as a goth. She looked so much better 🤣🤣🤣
huh
Exactly my thoughts! 🤣
I lost it at the musical cues. 😂 These guys have already hit their stride and they’ve only been on the SNL team 6 months!
I love how 1:06 implies the existence of a separate bathroom for goths
These guys are an awesome addition to SNL. The time travel sketch is awesome, this sketch was an unexpected turn as usual and super creative... Look forward to your stuff every week! thank you
Needs to crossover with the Portlandia Goths…. :)
I was thinking similar.
And go shopping for a vacuum with JAMIE! at BB&B
Or, if anyone besides me remembers, Goth Talk.
@@eboethrasher well now I do! Azrael Abyss and Circe Nightshade reunion for sure!
Fun fact: goths for real love Disney Parks.
Bat Days
That actually makes a lot of sense
Probably Haunted Mansion the most
only the normal ones
im goth and can’t stand disney also do not dress in this extreme. but my jokes land
I definitely had a goth “phase” that never 100% left me and I think this is pretty spot-on with how goths are in general. I’ve hung out with many who identify as goths and I think they make great friends. They’re truly very intelligent, cordial, and loyal. They will sometimes judge someone else’s fashion, but oftentimes feel guilty afterwards and self-deprecate as a result (which is charming in its own way 😆🖤).
Its not that were criticizing someone elses fashion were criticizing the fact that people call themselves goth without listening to at least one goth song. It doesn't matter what you look like. Personally as a goth i dont judge others based on their clothing style. I only judge them on their knowledge of gothic subculture. Yeah you can look like a totally normie basic average person but if you dont listen to the music i hate to break it to you but you're not a goth.
Its like calling yourself a metal head without listening to metal. Wearing black doesn't make you goth listening to bauhaus does.
@@coffintears5821 Ah, this again... so I prefer Nox Arcana and other such orchestral and neoclassical darkwave music to traditional Goth music. But I listen to Dead Can Dance's Dionysus EP ALL the time. Is my love for that one EP enough for me to qualify as a Goth?
@@coffintears5821 That's not being goth. killing Romans is goth. It's Not always about wearing black and listing to Christen death.
@@nyxshadowhawk Yup, in my book. Maybe spread out to more of their catalog though? At least start with the greatest hits... Goth is a large umbrella that can have goth folk and also electro-goth in it. And some goth that is borderline metal, but I draw the line at black metal/death metal. That stuff isn't really part of Goth to me, much like Marilyn Manson never was, either. He was a poser/hanger-on whose only contribution to the scene was bringing in some baby bats who then got curious and learned about stuff.
@@coffintears5821 While I agree with you in some aspects, I think it is also important to evaluate if they are WILLING to listen to stuff. Our job, as goths or elder goths, can be to shepherd people and try to turn them into baby bats, educate them about the music, etc, and try to do it in as understanding of a way as possible based upon the openness of the person in question. No need to ooze pretension or else you'll just turn them off to the best music they might ever get to hear. And gateway them into it with some Cure, New Order, Banshees, then you can pull the "oh you liked New Order? This is them before their old lead singer took his own life, you've probably seen the T-shirts" and boom, Joy Division. Then it is a short step to Bauhaus and then they can handle ANYTHING. Well, almost anything.
Almost every time I met a goth at a concert or somewhere, they seemed pretty normal and friendly if not a little arrogant and self conscious. So yeah, pretty normal.
Three Normal Goth is recorded in front of a live studio audience
They missed a great joke there. Definitely should’ve said that at the beginning.
*audience members are all dressed up as zombies*
And Ryan Reynolds is the nosy neighbor as himself
LMAO the picture of the goth dog
Ben is rocking the looks! All 3 of them did a great job, but lipstick really suits Ben well!
The face after "I want pizza more" 😂😂😂😂
These dudes are the best thing about SNL right now. They need their own show.
If they made this an actual show, I’d be watching it all the time. This made me laugh so hard!
But can we talk about how the wardrobe dept totally nailed each of their looks??
"They also happen to be Disney adults" got me
This sketch has everything. They even cleverly made fun of people who say "doggo," which is very much needed right now.
Why did I immediately think of the Stefon sketches when I read “This sketch has everything”
@Marc W I did too. Even read it in Stefon's voice. Am I dating myself? 😳
I'm literally a goth that says doggo. LOL.
Three Millenial Goths.
I wish they included the "I'm just a Jim looking for his Pam" line from Ben's original version of this sketch
🖖🏾😹 I was the only black goth kid in high school and was eating pizza while watching this! Stop reading my mind SNL! lmbao
These sketches are quickly becoming my fav
“In this cut for time sketch”
Does..snl not realize their sketches are the funniest thing that happens every week?
No I really don't think they do.
Of all the skits they cut this masterpiece
Saying sometimes their jokes don’t land, was foreshadowing for this clip in general. 😭
"He made his eyes black for the summertime." 💀🤣
1:21 "sometimes the jokes don't land."
agreed.
That comes part and parcel if you're a writer for SNL.
Love these "Please Don't Destroy" skits. The comedic timing of these guys is amazing.
Did they meet in college? How did they come together?
I'm in love with Ben's cute smile :)
there were some subtle moments of genius in that one!
Honestly, I would watch the hell out of a real "Three Normal Goths" sitcom.
Y’all are incredible!! Every sketch you’ve done so far has knocked it out of the park. A Please Don’t Destroy sketch is always the highlight of any episode!
"Sometimes their jokes don't land" please that is painfully relatable
I would watch this series.
Bro why aren’t they airing these live, they’re so good
Time constraints, digital sketches will never take priority regardless of how good they are.
Usually they do air these shorts to the live SNL audience (you can hear the laughter), but this time they didn't.
There are some they air live and some they don't. This is one of the cut after dress rehearsal ones (along with Rami Malek Wants a Treat, Future Selves, And New Personalities).
They're actually funny and funny things aren't allowed on SNL anymore.
This was excellent!!! Strangely, I would love this to be an actual live sketch on the show! 😂🤣😂
If anyone remembers Bens normal goth sketch on CZcams, you’re a real one
How did I know they were gonna make it into a sitcom by the first 2 jokes lol
Because of the intro music

I love these guys! Their odd humor speaks to me in every one of their sketches. 🤘
As an elder goth, I need more of them 💁🏼♀️✨
Why in the world would you cut a Please Don't Destroy sketch?? These guys are amazing
The whole sketch is actually so sweet
He made his eyes black for the summertime
Funniest, sing-song line.
Thank you for the shout out SNL. Bats Day in the Fun Park / Goth Day at Disneyland. Started in 1999.
This has been my favorite part of SNL, there is hope from the future of comedy 🎭
This sketch really highlights John's incredible chin. Jesus dude, amazing.
LOL .. I remember being Goth/Alternative.. still am I suppose.. 30 years later... we always saw ourselves as normal!!... it was the outside world that was abnormal.. fake celebrities, shitty politics, war, gumpf and BS...

Is it just me, or do they look good like this?
Can this be a sitcom please? Goths need shows, too!
Well we've got The Addams Family and What We Do in the Shadows.
@@nyxshadowhawk I don't think we should settle for just those two. Or Dark Shadows. Or any witchy show. Or any other vampire show for that matter. We should have some wholesome goth shows, damnit.
I guess you and I have different ideas of what constitutes “wholesome.”
Love, love LOVE these guys.
SNL version of Workaholics. They single handedly saved this season.
so glad that they made ben’s short video into a sketch
Thank you for being funny...you are saving SNL!
Y isn't this a whole series 😂😂😂
This needs to be a show of its own
Living for these trio sketches now
ok but, john's look specifically was slaying lol
Goths like the idea of being weird but most of the time there's nothing weird or edgy about them at all. Its mostly just an aesthetic.
i guess this is too weird to air, but it's a shame this sketch was cut for time. it's a gem
I always look forward to these guys! Geniuses!
Getting a real Kids in the Hall vibe, i'm digging it
