Beryl I just had to say a huge Thank You for this series. I just spent a week in NYC for work and was able to discover and savor so many interesting things from your list! My husband was impressed with the history I shared from your videos, too. It really helped us feel like we got a tour and some primo insights from a local friend. I can’t thank you enough.
The Jewish influences in New York’s culinary are so big! usually the Jewish cuisine is not the most popular, but I think because people do not know the roots of many dishes, so thank you for this eye opening series!
People don’t care if food is Jewish or not Jewish, why the heck would it be more or less popular based on its roots? They care whether or not it tastes good!

You have to try their Kasha Knish! It’s the bomb. I agree with all of what you mentioned here. We were in the city last weekend and compared it to Yonah Shimmel(our favorite until now), Zabar’s Knish takes the cake(no pun intended) 😅 Thanks @Berylshereshewsky for your wonderful videos. I looked at all your alphabetic shorts for NYC Before I visited. I would like to visit a few different ones next weekend when I’m back in the city. 🩷🤗

I'm getting ready to go to NYC for the first time with my fiance. This a-z list is certainly going to help! He is a breakfast foods 24/7 kinda guy. I would love to know your top breakfast places. Love everything you do, thanks for keeping us curious about food and food history!

I hate to admit it bc it's always nice to gloat about my neighborhood ashkenazi grocery, but I've never had a better babka than their cinnamon. like I don't think it's actually possible to do it better.
Saying a deli has the best smoked fish is like saying it has the best black and white cookie. They all do a pretty good job in the right neighborhoods. What you should check out is Russ and daughters appetizers on Houston. Smaller, strictly Jewish, and a much cooler neighborhood than the stuffy upper west side.
