That single stage Black brings back memories! I remember painting my '85 Nissan pickup in my carport before work one morning. I used PPG Urethane gloss black. It was 90 bucks for a gallon. It came out looking exactly like this!! I could see my finger nails in the reflection from like 20 feet away! Nobody believed I painted it myself.
That's what I'm talking about right there... Outstanding flow from the get go. I used to paint boat and jet ski trailers 5 days a week in the 80's with single stage PPG paint. Correct prep is key to a finish like this. Paint doesn't hide imperfections it magnifies them. Great job sir, I am a new subscriber.
You are 100 % right about single stage being tricky. I spray commercial truck bodies daily. Go through probably about 8 gallons of paint a day. Its all about watching your paint go on. Because even different colors will seem to spray different. No matter if its through a gravity feed gun, pea shooter/PP, pro-mix e stat. Dont matter watch the paint and adjust accordingly. Good video.
Horrible. Mask off everything. This is a classic hack job and I’m sure it starts peeling around the edges very soon. I used to work for a hack shop like this that did shitty work in a small town. I left and started my own business and within 5 years he closed his doors. Big towns can get away with hacks like this but in a small town (25k) hack shops wouldn’t survive if there is a quality shop in town. If anyone thinks this is a quality job then you deserve to get ripped off.
Beautiful! I have an old 4-eyed Mustang GT I'll be painting at some point...I already bought 2 stage paint...a total re-color....1st time ever doing a whole car. After seeing this, I should've went original black. But where I live, black Mustangs are like a-holes....everybody's got one.
I love it when the younger painters these days talk about a product, especially a single stage paint, It's terrible or sucks because it wont lay out, or itll hit the floor or you cant get the splotches to uniform, what their missing is the days of Imron, Centari, and oh yeah, the Limco 123.....haha.....if you could production paint when those was the only paints available in Single Stage, anything today is pretty much easy.....I've shot several non metallic jobs with this paint and its definitely worth the money. You did a great job on the Monte......
Thanks ! Yea I'd like to say us 90's babies are the bridge gap between old school and new school. We were still spraying single stage when I went to school in 2011 in high school tech trades program.
