- In the 23/24 season, expect Erik Ten Hag to continue with the same 4-2-3-1 that brought Champions League football back to Old Trafford. Within this structure, Manchester United have several key positions that need strengthening and overall squad depth in most positions would be a benefit. In this video Statman Dave profiles 5 players that Erik Ten Hag’s Man Utd should sign in the summer…

I genuinely don’t know how Dave hasn’t been snapped up by a scouting department 🤷🏼♂️
Been saying this for years 🤷🏽♂️
It's frustrating as a United fan as his suggestions just make sense - I mean it'd be fine if United got turned down or went for a similar player but...
His channel is growing. As a content creator, I see that he lacks edutainment in his presentations. People come not only for information but also to be entertained. Have you ever seen him laughing?? No....
But I appreciate his work and I subscribed to this channel many years ago.
If the Qataris get United, they need to get him into the scouting department
yea I’ve been wondering same thing could be a decent DOF
This club is gonna gimme a heart attack 😭
If we don't get some players in, we're gonna get absolutely pummeled as soon as the season kicks off.
Wont sign players until after new financial on 30th June.
Well i dont think we will not sign anybodyithink glaziers are milking the club begore go spending money is not intheir plan
We put everyone in the league to the sword despite playing more than not just anyone in the league but anyone in the world and we did it with an almost non-existent bench and pretty much zero recovery time.
With the team we have right now even we will be dominating and probably be at the top of the table since our schedule will be much much easier, we are also adding back Greenwood who the entire league is completely unprepared for especially since Ten Hag will most likely be changing his position constantly.
We are signing Mount that's happening, we are going to get a real keeper that is happening, and there's a very good chance we will get Hojlund, that alone would guarantee us the title
The Prem hasn't even gotten to see Ten Hag at full strength yet, you yourself will even be surprised
@@victorkreig6089 first of all, everything positive you said concerning the new season is depends on fortifying the squad as you've identified some players you'd like to see United sign. That's no different from what I said.
And lemme add that the reason I said we'd be pummeled if we do not strengthen the squad is that other clubs in the EPL are consolidating on what they managed to achieve last season. Look at Newcastle, Arsenal, City, and even Spurs. If u think this Man United squad can compete for the title next season with very little or no additions, then you need to wake up to reality, my friend.
And the fact that you think a few additions would guarantee us the title made me smile. I'd like that too, but it's highly unlikely. But of course it would make us contenders.
@@victorkreig6089this is more than optimistic. this is delusional. You saw City win the treble almost too easily and they're making more signings and you think just Mount and a controversial Greenwood will be enough to compete with a strengthened Arsenal or a Saudi backed Newcastle or the Europeless Chelsea that has got some structure?
Thank you so, so much for mentioning Gift Orban Dave. The kid literally came out of nowhere (FC Bison, a club you can't find a google), and has killed it at every club he's been at so far, and is an exceptional talent, possibly once in a generation. Definitely a hidden gem in the world of football, but once he's found, he's going straight to the top. A wonderkid who literally came out of nowhere.
André is a must
Great video, Dave. And yes, I want a video about positional and relational football and Fluminese's tactics.
+1 would also love to see it
Me too
00:35 Zeno Debast | Anderlecht (rb)
3:50 Andre | Fulminase (dm)
7:33 Arda Guler | Fernerbahce (cm/am)
10:57 Ramus Hojlund | Atlanta (st)
13:29 Gift Orban | Gent (st)
You sir, are a King!
King
Bro needs to be pinned absolute genius
You're doing a king's shift! Thank you
Debast is a CB
Unlike some of the other pundits who just want united to sign a dream team of players, SMD actually builds a team in the United way of old. United in the SAF era bought young players, developed them, and had the one big money signing to help right away. Obviously, we are in a different time, and players cost more, but investing in youth and moulding them how you want to play is key. All these players named would be terrific signings.
Relational Possession, tell us MORE! And also discuss how it may affect modern football in terms of adaptability, effectiveness, fluidity and other aspects.
Hi Dave, love your content. Watching you from Accra,Ghana
❤
Arda Guler would be amazing 🤩
He's Barca bound unforunately :(
Too expensive, his parents are asking for €20mil signing on fees. His €17.5mil release clause ends up being €37.5m
Also wants regular game time and said he eventually wants to move to Real Madrid.
@@HaseebK0 so we could sign him and sell him at a profit in 4 years still a smart signing could negotiate signing on fee aswell.
@@HaseebK0that'll end up being a bargain
Would be but rw is surely the one place we have too much players.
Would love to see us sign Andre, after Kim Min Jae it would be one of the smartest signings of the summer
Kmj to bayern
We need a Casemiro cover and I still want Ibrahim Sangarè! FDJ would add a whole lot as a box to box
I wanna see Sangaré in the PL so bad, Alex Stewart would go mad
FDJ is the dream signing but he’s just a dream. Barca won’t sell even with their financial problems. We have to find other players who fit that role, even if they’re raw
Sangare was horrible the last 6 months
@@joshuagibson1544 I have a hunch that if Ric signs for City they would probably sell Rodri to Xavi cause Xavi is obsessed with recreating the Iniesta Xavi Busquets, they got Pedri and Gavi and we all know De Jong is not a Busquets and Xavi himself don't rate him in that position as he lacks physicality. So they could sell De Jong to United in order to generate money for Rodri the Spanish CDM.
@@MikeTHEBOSS He probably needs a new challenge, he’s been consistent in the previous seasons and he still managed to get 8 goals in a DM position
Diogo Costa-Kim Min Jae-Barella(MOST IMPORTANT SIGNING)-Guler-Kane With these ones I believe we are instantly in the title race and a UCL powerhouse but the budget is not available
hope ten Hag is subscribed to Dave!
Would love to see a relational video Dave, you could talk about how Madrid won the 2022 UCL and Argentin the WC using that tactical style, as well as why Brasil want Ancelotti so much because that's how he coaches as opposed to the Brazilian coaches they've had who insist on a European positional style.
Love your vids can you make a video on chelsea 23/24 and how poch will set his team out please?
Another player from Atalanta I would be interested in is Giorgio Scalvini. The guy is a stat monster for his age.
I have skipped so many videos prior to this video. Absolutely fantastic. You're presentation and content is truly appreciated. You're in a league of your own. Thank you!
I’m ready for that relational possession style
Andre is a nice watch. absoloute midfield maestro if ever I've seen one
I really like this I think a younger cb to challenge Varane and Martinez, I really like Andre in the midfield saw him paly for Brazil and looked top notch also Arda Guiler looks generational he would amazing and I think signing both Hojilund and Orban would be amazing developing two gems but I doubt this will happen cause Utd’s scouting is so bad
I love Andre to be at ManUtd but TenHag is still stuck with Frankie DeJong and Mount.
@@derek009if we had Qatar, ten hag would also get another mid like Frenkie Caciedo or Rice but rn we have limited budge
Dave your analysis are top, i can imagine if you scout players for a specific team, it would be impressive.
Kane , mount, cauceido, kim min jae , onana
unfortunately, Dave Man utd usually goes for known big names which are too expensive.
Great video Dave, and yes, I want to know about Fluminese's style of play
kevin mantilla for cb also 18yrs would be a great prospect, casemiro back up charlie patino is a cheap option if they can get him though amrabat would be ideal if he wants the move, guler (hard working ozil version) would be a great purchase with suggestions of van de beek going, alex scott would also be a good midfield addition with the sale of fred on the cards but also conclude the mount deal if possible, zeki amdouni would be a forward addition as well as the return of greenwood and taremi would be also good to enable the younger forwards get better withut the pressure.
for people who like this type of content, Opta(the analyst) did a nice article on why your club needs a big man striker due to the rise of pressing teams. they also have reports for Mount,Caicedo,Bruno etc
Can you do a video on where previous recommendations ended up and how they performed?
Great scout analysis please Dave you need to send this video to the Manchester united scouting department or someone close to Ten Hag it's gonna create awareness to help moving forward I know you have the connection and I know you're a fan who want the club progress consider doing it🙏🏻❤️💯
Fluminense's 2-1 win was in Rio state championship. In the brazilian cup the results where 1-1 and 2-0 for Flamengo.
Please do a video on relational and positional possession
Dave, great vid. I believe Ancelotti's Madrid are fairly similar to Fluminense in that they buck the positional play trend...?
👍👍👍 best thinking. And would be developing and dangerous for year's to come.
Liverpool has recently signed Dominick Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig, TAA also played in the midfield last season and I think Klopp will have the tendency to play TAA in midfield, there midfield is packed and have a great quality of depth. So I want to suggest a player who can start as a right back and then tuck in to form a 3 at the back to cover up for TAA defensive weaknesses , my suggestion is Lucas Martinez Quarta (plays for Fiorentina and an Argentine International, his defensive and passing stats are world class!!!! He deserves a chance to play in a top club and he is very good on the ball, so liverpool I think must buy him which will give Klopp a good option to be flexible with his selections).
Could you please do a video on Real Madrid on proposed tactics and first XI
Dave do you forward any of this to any scout at Unite?
Please make a video on relational and positional styles of play.
I honestly think we'd be better off signing all the players listed here instead of the overly expensive targets we will undoubtedly go for instead.
And Hojlund pretty much turned out to be our only useful signing this year...
My suggestions - RB= Brandon Williams/ Frimpong
CB = Ibrahima Bamba, Jean-Claire Todibo, Axel Tuanzebe
ST= Hojland, Oshimen, Pedro(Brazilian) as backup, Evan Ferguson(Brighton), Sell Martial
CDM = Florentino Luis ( Benfica) , Ibrahim Sangare
GK = Gavin Bazunu, Giorgi Mamardashvili
CM = Dani Olmo/ Mason Mount/ Hanibal Mejbri( he is good for first team), Fabrizio Diaz( Liverpool in Uruguay)
RW = Nico Williams( Athletic Bilbao), Angel ( Santos Brazil), or just play Amad Diallo
We have good players in the academy itself, they should get a chance to play.
Please do a fulham tactics video they have done really well last season
Initially I was disappointed because I didn’t see a star player here but having depth with great potential, who are unknown gems is an impressive way to go about transfer business
Sir David can you make a video explaining amrabats stats and maybe explain why his stats do not match the eye test. Also would he be a good addition to the squad what are his best attributes, etc.
TOP VIDEO MAN, I THINK ALL OF THEM WILL BE A VALUE FOR MONEY PLAYERS AND STEP UP IN OUR SQUAD BUILDING FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF MANCHESTER UNITED. STILL SURPRISED NO KEEPER IN THEIR, TO BE HONEST YOU DID MORE ANALYSIS AND SCOUTING THEN OUR SCOUTING DEPARTMENT OVER THE YEAR.
I dont think I'm the only one Dave does scouting for my FIFA career mode .
I literally make use of his players scout for my FIFA manager career mode .❤😅
I would love to see a video about relational possession
While I think most of these players would be great value, I think it would make sense to compliment the seemingly imminent signing of Onana with an attacking left-back. Given Barca's financial issues, *Alejandro Balde* would be a potential robbing. Elsewhere, contract renegotiations between Bayern and *Alphonso Davies* have broken down, and with Bayern already having signed an elite leftback in Raphaël Guerreiro, seemingly to replace him, it would look like an opportune time to make a move. If Harry Maguire leaves, Shaw could oscillate between a very wide left-sided centerback position and the fullback role, shoring up the left side of defence nicely.
But why do I think this would pair well with Onana? Well, Onana pushes further out into the midfield than any other keeper United has been linked with, which lets his team split their centerbacks really wide. This means that the fullbacks will naturally play further forward (even more so when considering that Onana would allow for a generally higher defensive line as well) and thus have more opportunities to go forward at opportune moments. Furthermore, splitting the centerbacks like this allows for even a less pacy midfielder to cover the area, even against a fast winger, since the opposition can't as easily play long balls down the line to make it a footrace.
The result is would be that United's fullbacks would be in better positions to go forward when the chance presents itself (because they'd be in more advanced positions) *and* the risk involved in taking those chances would diminish substantially. I'd argue that it makes sense to lean into this with an attack-minded left-back who likes to defend further up the field.
As a side bonus, since Jaden Sancho has historically struggled on the left without an overlapping fullback, this could finally be the season where he begins to come into his own in a United shirt. Maybe not to the degree that he displayed at Dortmund, but I'd definitely not cash out on him just yet.
1:Onana
2:kim min Jae
3: Caceido
4:Mount
5: Any Striker ( Kane Vlahvic , Oismiehn And Free man Marcus Thuram
Totally agree with all players. Sadly I don’t think they will buy any of them and spend all budget on 1-2 players that aren’t even going to improve the first 11
Our main signing really should be Statman Dave😅 love the content as always
Would love to see a Fluminese tactics explained❤
Statman is all about stats💯💯
Dave, you are now in charge of Uniteds transfer window. I would be happy with them all
Dave excelent work Utd should employ you as a scout
It's just gutting we probably won't get half of these guys
What’s the difference between relational and positional?
The lack of imagination in the United recruitment department completely defeats me. Completely.
Why are we not in for Milinkovic Savic? I’ve wanted that guy in our team for like four years.
been saying this
Would be great signings. Our scouts probably only recognise Rasmus! We always go for the obvious signings.
Glad Andre got a shoutout. I would quite like him to play for Chelsea with us revamping our midfield
IN:-
Caicedo or luis florentino, Mount, Onana GK, Jean Clair Todibo, Olise, Muani or Hojlund, and lastly reinstate Greenwood
OUT:-
Maguire, Sancho, Martial, Henderson, Mctominay, Fred, VDB, Bailly, Telles
I’ve been watching ANDRE for a while!!
That boy is special
Great video as always Dave. What are your thoughts on the protests at new home kit launch today?
Get the club sold asap
I don't even know Andrey but I'm sold and convinced, statman Dave is superb
What do you think of Nathan Collins as a RCB backup to Varane? Only 22, linked with a £20-25m move. Seems like he has a bit of everything.
Not Güller man.
The guy has a problem with injuries, doesn't track back, does not like to press, looses concetration and has personal issues
Man Utd should forget about De Jong and sign Andre Trindade. Ridiculous how good this Brazilian lad is. He's a complete midfielder .
Technically brilliant, press resistant, carries the ball from deep if he beats the first opposition press, and also crazy good at the defensive side.
United need to give this man a job!!!! 😩😩
Sad to say but I'd be genuinely surprised if United signed even one of them. United rarely if ever makes good signings and in those few cases end up paying an arm and a leg to get someone not to mention the often seen protracted negotiations. I'm so sick of the front office playing coy year after year. This is no longer the Manchester United I fell in love with.💔
this sounds amazing, unfortunately i don’t have high expectations for this transfer window :(
what is your opinion on mats wieffer from feyernoord as a casemiro backup and maybe future replacement
i think he is the real deal and can become a world class dm
I suspect there will be no in's or out's before the 1st of July.
this deserves more views.
I thought I’d take a look at Statman Dave’s recommended transfers over the years. To be fair, while there were a few he got wrong (no one is perfect), his strike rate is actually quite high.
Therefore, I agree, we should get Andre asap.
Agree with all of Dave's recommendations here. Unfortunately, except for Hojlund, man utd has not made any contact or effort to sign these players.
Some really good players there… issue is,, Ten Hag clearly doesn’t trust the scouting team at United considering 90% of the players United have signed he’s scouted himself. Maybe once the take over some and we get new staff some of these players could be tapped up
My 5 would be
Costa - gk
Bella kotchak - cb
Federico Redondo - cdm
Enzo le fee - cm
Goncalo Ramos - ST
Rasmus as a back up ST Or caicedo for CM if united still have money or sell and generate money
Brighton probably follow Dave, watch them get Andre and guler now
Love the idea but i can only see hojlund signed because other will be too "unproven"
The very idea of United buying young players with high potential at reasonable prices 😂😂😂
Great video. Love all these options, it’s just a shame that United act so slowly and incompetently.
As long as Pellestri is there I don't think Utd would go dor Guler. And Utd should definitely go for Manu Kone.
Great prospects
All great shouts for Newcastle too
I hope Manchester United sporting director is watching and signs these players along with caicedo
It seems there are so many good players out there available (for cheap, too), yet we haven't signed a single one them, while preseason starts in 2 weeks.
Someone please get this video to Eric Ten Hag and get this man an important role in player acquisition team of Manchester United.
I love that Man Utd fans outside of brazil knows Andre
mahamed kudus,pederico cheisa,onana sabszer.....&Arda Guler ,michael olise,
Onana, André and some young striker will be great signings for the summer
The players the club should be signing if we had or could have competent owners are the players the manager, Ten Hag, is obviously obsessed with which are Kane, De Jong, Mount, Højlund, Onana and Min Jae. All these alternatives are going to way to risky for a team that needs to compete with the best team in the world right now, Man City.
All 5 signs are super young and have a high risk of not fulfilling their potential which is a very common pattern. Can United take that risk? I don’t think so. Based on the financial and ownership mess we have at hand all we need to do is make signings that will guarantee us top 4 finish. Top 4 finish will strengthen our new owners to have a clear and strong approach to 2024 transfers. Hojuland, Mount and Onana are those signings. What Dave has suggested are really good long term plans but we cannot just plan for long term. You gotta mix it up with some short term targets as well like Kane if we can.
1000000000% but I thought people might want some alternative targets. The big name targets will get their own focus, hopefully when they sign 🤞
@@StatmanDave We were in for the likes of Bellingham, Haaland, Alvarez and Caicedo early when they were cheap on top of Amad and Garnacho. Someone at the club is identifying the talent. But whoever is doing the deals isn't getting them over the line or is going for safer options. Maybe we should listen to the talent id guys more. These guys plus Verbruggen, Veiga and others could save us a ton in the long run, and of course help with FFP.
@@StatmanDavethought I’d have a look at some comps of André seen as you’ve raved about him for some time. What is it you see? He’s not fast, not the most imposing, his passing looked okay and decent on the ball but nothing spectacular. Just curious, ta
@@StatmanDave actually I think the players you mentioned should be highly considered by Man United with the kind of budget they are working with this summer.
The way I see it, Man United should be in for three starters only - striker, LCM and GK. Onana and Mount could do well in there, with Kane or Hojlund up front.
The other targets, I think United have miscouted. No need to try to get Rice or Caicedo if you get Mount, or even Kudus - who I can see doing well in midfield. You could buy Kudus, Debast and Andre for the price of Caicedo, and break the bank on an elite striker like Osimhen if you need to.
@@AnthonyMunyiyou don't need Mount. He is bang average plus he is a number 10 when we need a number 8.
I really hope United doesn't miss out on these players
I think this list is amazing but I'd like to point out we still haven't give chances to players like Pellistri or Diallo who deserve a run if guys like Sancho continue in the same vein.
Rotation for Casemiro, replacement for Maguire,
replacement for Eriksen,
replacement for Martial,
Maybe Sancho can be given a chance for playing centrally? and loan out Anthony, then sign another winger.
GIVE US SOME RELATIONAL POSSESSION TACTICS
Statman Dave I always like ur stats and analysis am a life long united fan but as long as these leaches drying and bleeding our club don’t leave all these won’t happen am afraid!!!
No goalkeeper is very strange considering I wouldve thought Dave wouldve seen how Poor DDG has been. I like these options tho, young and good potential + cheap
all brilliant options but we defo need a GK too
I would like to see a relational video Dave
I will not be surprised if manutd end up with no signing at all😢.. An average team cant overperferform twice consequetively
