Switch to mm when you are capping. It is much easier to add 10 mm÷ 13 mm÷ 17 mm than it is to add 3/8 + 7/16 + 3/4 inches.

Another comment....if you make an extra 10mm offset bend in the face of the cap about 2/3 of the distance out from the inside edge you create an extra line in the front face which makes an especially rich effect. ....so on your 3 inch face bend a 45 at 2 inches. At 2 3/16 bend it back that 45 degrees. The piece is back to flat but now it has a nice offset.

Sill plate has too be cut too a 30° angle too pull water away from the wall underneath the metal. Drip tabs missing. Good first try tho
Great video and thank you for sharing. I think I get the mechanics of it. What is the width of your new metal roll in the video? What gauge (thickness) is it? If your width is different on both sides can I still make the same template out of the metal to make both sides look even?
The new roll is 24". The gauge is either 20 or 22 thick. Yes, definitely can make the metal on both sides the same. Will make it look uniform/even. Recommend going with the larger measurement for the width (granted it's not too much bigger) so you can fit the metal around them both and it will fit snug.
I cut the coil to length and then mark out the measurements on the end then take snips and make little cuts on the marks then you can bend the metal over and line up the corners then use your snips to make little cuts in the same spots you cut
On the first side
Is it ok to sometimes have exposed nails at the corner? Only one of my windows 🪟 out of 20 has two exposed nails at the corner. Not sure why nails were needed when they would be visible.

If we all had a brake
I always put my sill on first so everything overlap s correctly and it hides your nails on the ears
Little tip is to cut your aluminum to length, then take your measurements in order while adding them up at the same time, write every number after next measurement is added, stick it in the brake to your final mark, cut it, and then you have all your marks and you just go to town bending, saves a hell of a lot of time rather than measure bend measure bend measure bend
i make a pattern out of scrap transfer my marks on it .backside marks i make a cross when doing alot of windows that are the same its very quick.but i have been doing it for 36 years
You neglected to tab the ends of the base piece up 1/4 inch behind the side pieces. You can also tab the top of the side piece under the top piece. If you put these tabs on the inside faces of the window you have no butt joins in your capping.
Does this need to be done when installing a new anderdon 400?

You do doble work amigo, simple by putting the 2 vertical studs first after the bottom, the vertical ones have to go all the way up and then the top stud on in between of the 2 vertical, you will save a lot of time cutting the aluminum. I can to CZcams to get some ideas and I see the amateur giving classes 😂
