    Best review I have seen on the A6400. Detailed, to the point and no waffle. Amazing job!
    Was debating between the A6400 and the 90D (mainly because of skin tones and colours as I owned a 70D). But the footage from the A6400 looks amazing!

    @Hexspa Před 4 lety

    I got the a6400 as an upgrade from an iPhone 6s and Kodak Zi8. It's my first 'real' camera since high school and it took awhile to appreciate the difference I'm getting. Though I got it primarily for video, the stills are much better than I'd expected. It doesn't have the low light performance of a full-frame camera but I'd still consider it usable for night imaging. Basically, I like it more than I thought I would.
    The lens we've attached is the 18105G and, while it suffers from barrel distortion, it's a very versatile constant aperture zoom with good sharpness and color rendition. For video, I wouldn't trade it for the 18-135 kit nor a prime as an only lens.
    Yes, the camera is small but I immediately put it in a SmallRig cage with a wooden grip and the ergonomics are basically perfect for me. I don't mind the video record button placement since I can easily actuate it with my thumbnail. The back button currently serves as Touch Tracking/Touch Focus toggle and, since I never use manual focus, that button has been reassigned as well. Battery life is completely adequate for my needs so far.
    The menu is admittedly not the best but once you have your My Menu set up, it's really not a problem in most cases. I haven't uploaded any videos using it yet but I'm really looking forward to it. Very satisfied with my purchase and, for the $500 difference, more expensive battery, lack of current availability, and probably lackluster IBIS, I don't regret the fact that the a6600 is coming though I'm sure it's great for someone who needs its features.

  • @grumpywiseguy5992
    @grumpywiseguy5992 Před 5 lety +1

    Considering the price, this camera is probably the best value on the market today, considering what this camera does. Given its size, and what it can do, this camera gives micro four thirds cameras a real challenge, except for maybe the GH5 for video. The price is the key. For less than half the price of the A7iii it is an incredible value. But, in my opinion, Sony only needs one camera in this catagory, given the ever increasing shrinkage in the ILC camera market. The A7iii battery, decent IBIS, and leave the rest alone for just under $1000, and Sony would own this segment. Only one camera to support, plenty of infrastructure and lens, Sony couldn't make enough of them to satisfy demand. Still, the A6400 is probably the best balanced camera Sony has made to date.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  Před 5 lety

      Yes, the price is really good, especially in the US. Making such camera would be against their corporate strategy, so we probably won't see such camera.

      I’ve had both. G9 little better for wildlife and more video features. 1080p looks better. Ibis better. Other than that I like the a6400 better because it’s so small. That small grip curves in well and you can hold it with one hand pretty easily. I can deal with the battery life when doing photo only. But the autofocus and being able to just set it up on a gimbal or do vlogging is so amazing. This was my main purpose for this camera. I think it is the best B roll/gimbal/vlogging camera out there. Especially if you record audio externally. There is no headphone jack however.

    This camera is a little beast for gimbal work (bright display=no monitor needed) and interviews or weddings (unlimited recording time and you can frame your client better or check if everything is good, thanks of the flippy screen)...with 3k you can buy two a6400 with 2 sigma primes (backup camera advantage + 2 angles films) instead of one a7iii + Tamron 28-75
