Can we all move to Tennessee?!
I have been on me to for 6 weeks. I'm not overweight but 11 years of docs telling me exactly what Dr. Ken says is no no. Well guess what? Completely off all insulin and other prescription meds right away. 16 lbs wgt loss. Feel great. Skin clear and smooth, no more cracked heels. Hair soft and healthy. Even nails growing.
I am truly in love with this way of nutrition which is more benefit to me than anything else.
Dr. Ken makes it so easy to understand. My grown kids got me to try it and I will never go back. My last a1c was over 9. In may I will have new one drawn. When I told my doc what I was doing, he was dumbfounded. Look on his face was "there's a pill for that".
I have no other ills and am doing so good. I just celebrated my 18 year sober anniversary also.

Ever since I had my GB out (1977) I had chronic diarrhea. Dr. ordered colonoscopy which was neg. I said I felt like I had a food allergy. I got poo pooed. I went keto which didn't make my Dr. happy. Guess what, no more diarrhea! Sooooo, I ate wheat and oat products...DIARRHEA! I am never ever getting off keto. Wish I knew about keto all those years ago.

This was a real eye-opener for me. I started to notice I wasn't going as frequent as before to the bathroom, yet I didn't feel there was anything wrong with my digestion. Also the fact that my weight was consistent everyday made me think my body was not accumulating anything...so I tend to agree that the absorption of animal products must be much higher with minimal intestinal by-product

Thank you again. You got me off metformin after 10 years with Keto as a diet controlled dietetic. I stay on Keto until Constipation pain makes me want to go to the emergency room. Keto is the only diet that works for me that has changed my life dropping 66 pounds, 10 inches in the waistline, corrected my triglycerides, corrected my AC1 and save two knee replacement. So interesting note, I’ve been dealing with a severe case of IBS and have been on three different medications three times a day just to be able to function. My Gastro said that the severity of my condition was comparable to someone with moderate to severe chromes. On Keto I don’t have to take my meds anymore, That’s been the best side effect bar none that I don’t have to worry anymore.

Isn't one or two meals good enough if you are fasting daily for 16 hours? Is there any benefit to water fasting for weeks gives you?

I'm new to your channel, but I have subscribed and I've been binge watching all of your videos! I've been doing keto almost nine months now and I've lost almost 50 pounds. I've learned a lot in the last several months, but I know there's still a lot left to be learned. Could you do videos on the following topics?...1. Autophagy (I didn't see this in your videos about intermittent fasting), 2. Using pee strips to test for ketones (Is this okay, only valid in the beginning, not worth my time at all?), 3. Using keto to lose weight vs. using keto to maintain weight (What changes should we start to make as we get closer to our goal weight or body size?), and 4. Exercise and keto (When should we start incorporating exercise? Should we let the diet take us to our goal weight first, or start exercising sooner?) I'd love to hear your opinions on these!

Thank you so much magnesium citrate has really helped me. I have been going once every three days. Kind of scary. Now go once a day. Not a lot but at least consistent and puts me at ease. A few years ago when I started this way of eating got so constipated struggled to pass it. Really scary. So have been taking softeners but still you know don't want to go through that again. Now feel better that I won't get in trouble away from home.

Since I started eating soil from the forest every day, I have not had a problem with constipation. My dog gave me the idea. He loves to bring me branches and stones. His mouth is full of forest soil. I realized: My ancestors also buried meat to make it last longer. They fermented meat. It is inconceivable that our ancestors did not eat soil regularly. And that's how I do it too. Every day when I walk my dog, I go into the forest, clear the litter (I don't want to eat parasites and germs) to get to the deeper ground. I eat about a gram of it. Since then I have had a bowel movement every day. I've been carnivorous for 1.5 years. Before that I often only had stools every 5 days. The stool is perfectly shaped. PS: One gram of soil contains a billion living things and around 5000 different species.

I ran 12MILES and done 500 pushups yesterday. I think this diet is a superman version of keto. I talked to Jason Whittrock on this, he said he's sold on this. It's still keto but without plants. This from a guy who's been a very regular pooper my whole life. I am 60 but in the shape of a 20'sumthin. I am NOT exaggerating. I have eaten healthy and exercised regularly since I was 21. A couple yrs ago i switched from 3-5 meals a day to 16 hour I/F 6-7 days/week. I STARTED getting a lil constipated then. every so often. At the end of Feb/beginning of March, I switched to KETO to increase hypertrophy. Now, I am literally pooping glue (when I poop at all). I usually have a day or 2 of pooping a few pellets and then I have a day of going to the bathroom 6 times in the morning. With large loads and small loads and cramping galore. Once it finally gets out, I feel better, but OMG!!! This is really painful and highly disconcerting. Reminder, I was a very regular 3-4 large to medium, easily exited poop loads per day every day for 3.5 DECADES.
This is getting fn bonkers. I am starting to freak out over here.
All of my food is cooked at home. It's all nuatural, organic, non GMO and I eat 10-20% protein, 70% fat (high quality olive oil, mostly but also some coconut oil and grass-fed butter).
I'm going to the store now and will get some hi-quality MagCitrate and Potassium. I will try consuming at night (I HAD done that at first, but when it wasnt working, I quit fussing with it-maybe I didn't give that protocol enough time so I will do nightly for at least a month this time). How many mg's??
Thank you and I am sorry this msg was so long. I am onat least 6 months of elimination problems and this is sooo sooo foreign to me.

I'd tried all the tips to fix this issue but still number 1 on the Bristol Stool chart! At my T2 diagnosis 4 months ago it was noted I was B12 deficient, but only told this in Jan, nurse missed this result in Oct, but put me on Metformin, also known to deplete B12 and nothing done to correct it. A bit of googling found being B12 deficient can cause constipation, so started taking sublingual B12 and now issue fixed back to 3/4 on Bristol stool chart. Oh and 13 weeks of LCHF took off Metformin as I'd reduced my HbA1c

Most of keto-friendly vegetables are rich in insoluble fiber, unlike those you’d wanna avoid on keto, because they’re rich in soluble fiber. That means that fiber absorbs water and makes digestion easier (unlike insoluble).
So make sure you do your research before eating a bunch of veggies, because it might not be as effective.
I’ve been eating them all the way, still have problems.
    Thanks for the suggestion.

Hello, everybody. I am doing the carnivore diet for about 2 years. It has been great for my energy, weight maintanence, muscle pain, tooth sensibility, etc. But I spent the great majority of this time with diarrhea or constipation, in the last times only constipation. I tried every tip in the internet, without success. I was afraid I would have to abandon the carnivore diet, because I was even with pain and bleeding when "going to the bathroom". But finally i discovered something that made effect.
It is Brewer's yeast powder. I started using it about two months ago and it is literaly saving my ass. I know it is not a carnivore food and has fiber, that generate a lot of gas depending on the quantity... but for me it has being a real miracle. I ate about 150g per day in the biginning. Many days even more then 200g because it is really delicious mixtured with melted butter, with a pasty consistency. Now I am trying to limit it to about 75g to not surpass the 20g of carbs per day and stay in ketosis.
I am not sure if it is healthy. But maybe, if like me, you tried everything and is about to give up, it could be of some help.

  • @albertmessner4228

Well, I feel like I've got to weigh in here--no pun intended. I've had my gallbladder removed since the early 1990s and initially had problems with constipation. When I went on a whole grain, vegie, nuts and seed, low meat and low fat diet, I had really good and frequent bowel movements. When I switched to the ketogenic lifestyle (despite eating a good amount of leafy greens and low-carb veggies) , almost immediately, I suffered from constipation again. I'm well hydrated, in case you might suspect that. Even with taking an electrolyte supplement, the problem persisted. I even added magnesium citrate and potassium gluconate separately, on top of the electrolyte supplement that also included them. I also use copious amounts of Himalayan sea salt. Only helped slightly. So I figured I'd try adding more fiber in the form of seeds, such as chia, poppy, and sesame seeds, as well as seed meals such as flax seed meal, sunflower seed meal, pumpkin seed meal, along with a limited (low-carb) amount of homemade nut butters. I also include psyllium husk powder when I can. This has finally helped the constipation problem, although I definitely don't have go as much as I used . By the way, I also take ox bile, which probably also helps. What's your opinion about this, Dr. Berry?
