FYI, the recruitable characters aren't all playable. Some will add new things to your headquarters, some will join as support characters that buff your whole party, and the rest will usually join you in battles as playable characters. It always has been like this with Suikoden games before. Oh, as for the war map, it's a whole different system.

Man I miss Radiata Stories that had so much love put into it, so many characters and when you chose your side you chose your half either human or non human teams. But I remember before trying to kick and fight everyone just to see if that’s how they joined my team, good days

Just to add context here: The DLC was voted on and Added by Backers. It was goals set by Devs during KS campaign. They mention the DLC would be around 9.99 (give or take) each which was told to backers in 2020 campaign. They will be sold separately when the game releases anyway. Also, the Season pass will be sold separately also. So just buying the DLC separately on top of the game will cost you 80.00. The deluxe you're still getting Music/art and 48 hours on top of that. (lets be honest that has been a trend since 2013 or even earlier). Also, everything in deluxe will be sold separately on top of the Early bird stuff. DLC are just side stories that do no affect the main game. Lastly, no Heroes will not be locked behind any DLC

The early access is a bit silly.
But at the same time deluxe editions are a way to support teams that make these games. It's nowhere as bad as what Atlus is doing these days (I'm still very salty about the P3R dlc that was confirmed not exisiting, but then announced existing and not part of the deluxe edition somehow, insane).
There's no day one DLC shenanigans. The game clearly seems to be packed with content (hopefully it is lol) and the backstory stuff is cute but complaining about it is odd to me. Back then I would have loved to pay a little bit extra to get extra content on old school classics. There's already so few really good JRPGs to choose from, I'm happy to spend more money to get more content rather than wait an extra 6 years until the next good one comes out (hopefully Metaphor at the end of the year will be excellent).
Pre ordered this and got it set to pre-load was definitely getting this a spiritual Successor suikoden wouldn't wanna get there hands on it
Already pre downloaded it. Been struggling to enjoy games lately, so hoping a similar game to what played as a youngster will reignite that fire.
If you haven't already played Chained Echoes, I highly recommend playing that, it really has all the nostalgia feels and a great game overall
Same a lot of modern games aren't for me. This game will Prolly be day 1 for me. Right now playing Growlanser and suikoden tactics.

.I haven't yet. Seen that it had issues, so im waiting a bit. I think my issue is I got into souls games and after that, the kind of genres I liked before didn't give me the buzz I got from them.
I bought this game month's ago on PS5 and I won't even play it right away haha.
Still playing a bunch of other stuff and Megaton Musashi is out pretty much the same time. I'll go through that and then play Eiyuden when I can look up how to recruit everyone.

I kickstarted this one and Armed Fantasia/Penny Blood years ago and I cannot wait to get my hands on all of these. I've followed this one closely and I'm expecting a 7.5 or so. It looks great but it's not going to be as good as Suikoden 2 so do not get your hopes up.
Please let ur viewers know that it isn't JUST based on the Suikoden series, it's also created by the OG tem which created Suikoden 1 & 2. Including the recently deceased Yoshitaka Murayama. (the father of Suikoden.)
Had to double dip and got both on switch and ps5. There may never be a game like this again.

Are there permadeaths in the game? By permadeaths, I don't mean deaths that are part of the story, but having a characters dying in battle that you can no longer use.
I think the deluxe edition is fair enough since it has alot of DLC included with it, unless i have misunderstood
Its like ff15 with all the DLCs included. Those dlc are not supposed to be part of main game anyeay just a set target that their kickstarter hit. It wont be part on the release date.

Suidoken 1+2 are my fav games. (I always considered them a package before the remake). I want this new series to be as successful as possible, but they have some big shoes to fill!
Suikoden 3 was my first and only Suikoden game, still play it from time to time till this day.

I played Dragon Warrior (Quest) 1 and Final Fantasy 1 when they 1st came out. I'm a massive JRPG fan, esp of Metal Max, Megi Tensei and Infinite Space (I consider it the greatest crime that this game wasn't bigger cuz it is AMAZE-BALLS, like Suikoden in space) but I'm most a fan of CRPGs which are games like Ultima 7, Baldur's Gate 3, Fallout 2, Realms of Arkania: Star Trail, Wizardry 7, Might and Magic 3 and 4 which combine into World of Xeen. I'm a huge RPG geek, but you couldn't tell by the way I dress.
That all besides, I love love LOVE all this talk! I remember discovering Suikoden 1 and 2 being just blown away by those games.

Nintendo switch backer here, already at 4 hrs in the game. it has some fps drop on some areas especially when your inside the town. Runs great if you are inside a building or an inn for example. For me its decent, its not gonna hinder you from playing it. The only thing i can comment on is the amount of loading screens whenever you run into and after the battle, also the loading screen is a bit slow, almost 3-5 sec to transition.

I'm worried about distribution problems and some bad press just before the premiere, plus information about the death of Sensei Murayama. Nevertheless, Suikoden 1&2 helped me through a difficult childhood and provided an incredible amount of emotions. What happened after part 3 is incomprehensible to me. However, if there is a chance for a fresh start and the beginning of something new, the creators have a huge trust from me and I have already ordered my copy.
Also try suikoden 5 while not as good as 2 it's my 2nd choice, they went back to the roots of 1 and 2.

Well on PS5 deluxe is 73 bucks, it's not a hassle, cause usually the season pass and dlc will cost prolly 10 bucks a piece, and I love the rising is so suikodenish, idgaf I'm buying it cause I know I'm getting my money's worth. Besides next gen games are 70 bucks it's a steal bro

I can't believe that this game really isn't getting any traction from any of the major game sites. I know it's gonna be a banger but really no mention of it. I just wanna play the game and figure out all the different characters and the combat because that's what sold me was the combat and the huge cast of characters. I'm getting it on my steamdeck.

I dont see the problem. The dlcs will be 3 seperate mini stories, not just character background, and they make out the 80 dollarprice. 50 + 3 * 10. Then you get a few trinkets as well. You can argue whether early access should be a thing. But I dont really get the point that its a kickstarter. The kickstarter backers get even earlier access than the deluxe edition buyers.

How does the season pass work for a single player game ?
Are there RPG mechanics like skill trees, gear, gathering, crafting. I find it hard to enjoy RPGs without many systems.
I didn't saw those in trailers, I afraid this game will end up very shallow with just tons of characters.
If it's anything like suikoden 1 and 2 there's atleast black smith's and weapons to upgrade , plus equipment to collect plus rare finds and such.
I backed this games too, I think spent 100 dollars on it.

Been excited since I heard the announcement in 2020. Will be playing base game on gamepass. EA can fuck right off and story content on a single player game being locked behind a pay wall is BS imo. I'll pay for future DLCs but locking character backstories behind a pay wall is crap. If I can upgrade from the base on gamepass for $30 I might, but no chance am I spending $80 on what is on offer here.

Depends, if the dlc is entirely extra than its fine. However most companies nowadays cut the regular content to sell as extra. From the backer notes they state that they will start making the dlc after release. Unlike capcom en the like :)
Technically not all 100 heroes are playable. Some just run castle functions or cheer for you as an ally. Others will be Support characters who don't actually fight.

Already paid $120 AUD for the Deluxe. Loved Suikoden 2 more than any RPG I've ever played. This being a Spirtual succesor has me hook line and sinker.
Nowa is the MC not all three. Seign will betray the MC just like Jowy in suikoden 2. And in all trailers, you only control Nowa.

If it's like a suikoden game, all 100 heros won't be playable. Some will just be upgrades to the base and some will just be generals for the war.
I agree with the day 1 dlc, fuck that shit. I don't care if it's indie, triple A, or what ever. If you have day 1 dlc, that should be part of the base game. Screw 505 for doing this. That being said I will stlil buy this game but I won't get the dlc, they ain't getting extra money from me for something that should be in the base game.
