- After spending a week in Paris, I thought it was time to get out of France, take a cheap flight to London and save some money. Boy was I wrong. It turns out the $10 metro tickets to the airport and my $70 Airbnb in Paris were cheap as chips compared to what I was about to pay in London. But hey, at least I was promised a nice Indian dinner by my mate Bald and Bankrupt upon arrival, let's hope at least that and the room he booked for us would be good.

I notice Johnny always takes the most cost efficient reasonable option to get around, which is necessary for him to generally be able to afford a good standard of living in other ways & be a digital semi-nomad. If you have the whole day to travel somewhere & are in no rush, why not sacrifice & spare hour or two for a fifty or hundred dollar discount? Flying is often cheaper than rail in Europe.
Its like kind of a non-conversation you're holding. Bald likes you, but you also annoy the living hell out of him hence his silence at times. That stuff about questioning hos ability to speak Hindi, when he has tons of videos of him traveling around in India by himself. As well as second guessing and verifying everything Ben says with a random dude next to you in the restaurant. An absolute cringefest to watch.

I like how he thinks speaking in a British accent will make British people understand English better.
One of the first phrases I try to learn when I holiday in a foreign country is "I'm sorry, but do you speak English?". There's no way I'm going to be able to learn a whole new language just for a 2 week holiday, but i find people respond well to at least that minimal level of effort, rather than going up to randoms and expecting them to speak my language in a country that has it's own language!
I think we automatically trying to speak like local in foreign country to make them understand more!

For a seasoned traveller he makes loads of newbie mistakes. Nearly going to the wrong airport is ridiculous haha. Should spend more time researching and less time complaining about everything.

Hey Johnny - just letting you know, at 4:03 it was pretty easy to get your bank card details, especially cause seconds after you took your card out of the machine, you showed your CVV code. So if I were you, I'd edit that out before someone uses your card.

I took the Eurostar from Paris to London several years ago. It was a pleasant experience.
Friendly reminder, the bus service is garbage. Walk or pay for a taxi.
Don't know why anyone fly's from Paris to London when you have over 10 Eurostar trains running each day, so comfortable, quiet and in 2 hrs 30mins you come out at the beautiful St Pancras station, less hassle than going to two of the busiest airports in the world and all the crap in between. Train is relaxing and great service onboard. Paris and London metros are shiteholes now.
Yeah it might even have been cheaper if booked in advance. Definitely more fun and easier.
We will be traveling by train from Brussels or Paris to London in spring but plan to head straight out to the countryside … someone recommended Cotswold . Any tips on how to get out of town smoothly ? Maybe a train out to a suburb and rent a car there ?
@@jetv1471 Cotswolds are really nice. Check out Castlecomb. You can rent ("hire") a car from Heathrow. I did that a while ago and being on the outskirts not that hard to get out of there but be careful making a wrong turn. You can also train it to a lot of places.

Another option on your next time in Paris: go to any metro counter and ask for a Navigo Card. You can then buy tickets using the RTP app on your phone and load into the Navigo Card via NFC. When in London Gatwick avoid the Gatwick Express if you are not in a hurry as it's the most expensive train line. Other regular train services only have one stop between Gatwick and London Bridge station for example :)

It’s much easier and quicker to get the Eurostar from Paris Gare Du Nord to London St Pancras Station and both are in the heart of the city.
Also I would avoid the Gatwick Express, it’s so expensive compared to the Thameslink and Southern trains which also run from Gatwick to London. I made the mistake of using it once too and the ticket was nearly double the price of a Thameslink/Southern one.
i needed the Gatwick Express one 20 yrs back to get to my bus up north, it was £25 then but needed it
Metro prices are so all over the place internationally. And it's not poor countries vs rich countries, either. In Chicago, you can buy a day pass for $5 that let's you go wherever you want on train, bus, tram, whatever for 24 hours. $20 for the entire week.

I find the idea of catching a plane between Paris and London abhorrent when there is a perfectly fine train service. Especially if you end up at Gatwick and your destination is the City of London itself... and then you have to endure a Southern Trains train to the capital to finish your journey.

In July it took me 1.5 hours to get through security at that airport. they need more people. You can get a security fast track for 30 euro so you essentially skip the line.

I absolutely regretted it afterwards. But in general it's not just about the money, it's better for everyone to take shared public transport to airports. It just needs to be a good experience as well.

Many people from that region (and many other regions for that matter) value their privacy, and simply do not want their image and identity streamed to the world. I'm actually surprised that more people don't come up to him when he films in public, or especially on public transport, and ask him why he's filming them or tell him to stop.
It is clear to me that his companion has expressly asked not to be identified, and it would be disrespectful if Johnny were to in fact introduce her on the video.
For sure she do not want to be in the videos. Keeping her privacy.

I took my kids to Washington DC 5 years ago. Transportation was the most expensive part of the trip . It was so much of a hassle.
Look into a bus tour next time I took one in middle school it was fun.
Train prices are a joke in the UK to the point where to go from the south to the north, it can be 10x cheaper to fly via Dublin or Barcelona than to get the train.
