Guys enjoy the video but please understand that this a very rare case of a full on Soviet sympathizer in Lithuania. Kremlin wallpaper is just crazy to me. I don't hate it, in fact I enjoyed these recent videos very much, but just don't let this form your opinion. There is a reason Soviet symbols are banned in Lithuania. There is nothing that people miss from Soviet times and if we could we would totally erase it. Just be mindful that Benjamin exclusively makes his videos about Soviet stuff, while there is so much to do and see that is not Soviet in Lithuania.
Dice, not totally true, my grandparents missed a lot of things from the Soviet Days as they were gainfully employed and as members of the local Kolkhoz back then received a lot of subsidized agricultural produce almost for free. In the last 20 years the prices in Lithuania for goods and services have gone through the roof and many older people in rural areas can barely survive. If you ask them they may disagree with your statement that no one misses Soviet Times...

Personally I will forever miss the four unique soviet statues that were harshly removed from Green bridge in Vilnius. That's a criminal act to me, erasing a very last remaining piece of our dark history's past. I totally loved 'em and used to stare at them everysingle time when passing by on a daily basis for over two decades. What a marvelous sight it used to be!!
what a lie... just cause sovietophobes and russophobes of new generation + government hates it, dont meant majority hated it, all my family that lived only talk good about those times. yes corruption and freedom of speech was harsh, but overall people were way more sociable, down to earth, friendly and more equal. thats what media shows that we are pro EU, while most people have soviet artifacts at home and really miss those times.

Your videos on this trip to Lithuania are going to create renewed interest in the country and increased tourism for that area. I know I would love to go there and visit that kebab shop, see the retired gangster (these people are all so wonderful!) and other local characters... but I would skip that late night meeting at the bus stop that Bald had with the slightly threatening old drunk dude, lol.
It would be better to have an uncut version of the whole drinking until the time bald arrives home drunk and messes with johnny 😂😂😂

A little fact (story) from 1990s: A friend of mine worked in the Police Special Forces at that time. He said that the gangsters (Mafia) were better equipped than the police. They had beter weapons, better radio stations, better cars, a load of bullets and grenades. The windows of the hideouts were bulletproof, doors were reinforced, so it was a pain in the ass to go against those guys. Of course the police was brutal too. There were no good cop, bad cop scenarios, only bad cop and the badder cop. The time was different and they had to work with what they had.
I believe that in many parts of the world the gangsters are more better equipped than the police force. Since the mafia and cartels have unlimited budget compared to a government police force. Who has to testify in front of congress to beg more budget allocation for the next fiscal year.

Fantastic, it is wonderful to see the coming together of folks from different countries knowing that it is not the People that separate us, it is and always has been the Politicians, The Governments that have kept us apart and at war. During these past 20 months, I have come to understand this more than ever. Thank you Johnny and Benjamin, and Aciu to these Wonderful Folks in Lithuania who represent Their Country Better Than any Politician Ever Has.
Well I'd love to say that's true. But it was the politicians who had the will to make their gang stop murdering people. And some politicians are actually there to do what their people want them to (including making war, stealing and other bandit shit).
The biggest enemy of any human on this earth, is government... and unfortunately very few people realise that... When I asked one Sicilian man about current mafia situation in Sicily, he replied - mafia is our government.

These vatniks only kept that flag just to show it to their like-minded friends and have something to laugh during the vodka time. I thought my Italian culture was very hospitable but these Lithuanians are on another level completely. Within 5 min you are invited to their home drinking fine cognac and given a prized family keepsake. They also were not kidding at all about being Soviet enthusiasts. That apartment is literally decked out from top to bottom with every Soviet propaganda imaginable on top of a freakin wall mural of the kremlin and Soviet Moscow skyline lol. Without a doubt the coolest most down to earth people. They would literally kill for you if you are their friend lol amazing.

When someone has a bulletproof front door, you know you're in for a good time.
It's an usual doors in this type of apartments..
In LT it's normal to have bullet proof doors in city's . We love safety what point of door if criminals can kick it in .
In the 90s steel doors became popular in post soviet countries because apartments would get robbed often. People also used to have bars on their windows if they lived on the ground floor. The bars went away with time but doors are still common.
Pretty much most common type of doors in Lithuania or at least in the capital, with 2-3 locks on them and a chain.

I never, ever comment on CZcams videos but have to say this Lithuania series is bloody awesome.
In 2008 I was skint and got in nearest warehouse to me. It was full of Poles, Latvians, Lithuanians etc etc. At first I hated it because we couldn't communicate other than the basics.
After some time I started picking up Polish and stated to make some real friends. This video reminds me exactly how it was for me, great hosts, great friends these eastern Europeans.
I spent 3 days by myself in Krakow and got to use my polish for real and got invited to some old communist flats just like this video. Maybe not gangster but in one night made some great friends with people that grew up in a completely different world...
Unfortunately I have kids now so can't jet off like I used to but if you're unsure, just go and experience life elsewhere. Brilliant
