A heart buster, really moved me the beauty of the Scottish tunes being played so well, and the background story, the ending, I presume is the hubby, alive/dead ? if dead he would not have aged.

love! Although I'm crying now- what happened? Did he come back? Did he die in the war? so much sadness.
I think that may have been him behind her in the last frame.
One off the songs in this arrangement is Loch Lomond, the song's meaning has many interpretations, however is mostly linked to the Jacobite uprising in the Highlands, following which many historrians belive the higland way of life ended. In some of the interpretations the low road refers to the underground tunnels where "the good people " i.e. fairies lived. It was belived that scots who died in foreign land had their sprits carried back to Scotland by the fairies, in this case many jacobites were publicly executed to supress any further uprising away from Scotland. In other interpretation the high road refers to the hills and mountains that many jacobites took to, to hide from the redcoats and the low road refers to the ones who were captured and travelled on the roads to their execution. 😢 other interpretation refers to two friends one of which is dying, saying farewell. It is one of the most lyrical and heartbreaking songs.
mariya mircheva I've always interpreted the 'Low Road' as being the literal physical route home to Loch Lomond and the 'High Road' as the spiritual return made by the departed.
Either way, or interpretation, it's beautiful music and a fine wee video.
kj black I couldn't agree more with you. It is a beutiful melody. 😊
I took that he died at war and the photographs and memories are all she has left of her husband. Maybe as an old lady at the end she is dying or has just died and she is meeting up with him again . It has a "We'll meet again
, Don't know where, Don't know when" feeling to it.
The first track (movement) 0:01 to 1:16 is breathtaking. Would like to hear more of it... Does a longer version exist?
I recognize some of the other songs and thus I assume this is some type of medley.
It's a medley - yes.
The first movement you mention is mostly 'Flower of Scotland', our 'unofficial' National Anthem*. The following ten or so seconds is the theme from 'Braveheart' - used as a bridge to the next movement - Auld Lang Syne.
*(I say 'unofficial' National Anthem, as it hasn't been "offically" declared as our National Anthem, even though it is used at all ceremonies, sporting events etc. Basically IT IS our national anthem, but the paperwork hasn't been completed 😁)
1:18 This sounds exactly like the dutch anthem
My seemit is thoroughly ripped.
I defy any Scot, in fact anyone, to watch this and not shed a tear or even just have a lump in the throat. Wha's lik us?
Great medley. What's the tune from 03:26-4:56? I recognise the others but can't put my finger on the name of that one.
It's a blend of Highland Cathedral and Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond. Really stunning piece!
Alba gu bràth
oh sweet Jeeeezus have mercy, salladin and the morores have taken over schotland
wait a minute
Honnestly I like this style. But when they play pop music like "Billie Jean" I do not like.
