Hope you feel better Dorian food poisoning is the worst! 1st your whole story really resonates with me from being in the streets to feeling like I wasted my 20’s to now being a husband and father of 2 trying to transition into web development. I feel like I’m learning with no real direction. The fact that you still feel better then when you were working a 9-5 should give you some peace of mind that you made the right choice. Keep doing what you’re doing and thank you for the content!
I lived in both China and Thailand. I lived in China first and then came back to the USA to take care of business, and lived in Thailand later. Yes, there might be bumps in the road like getting sick from food poisoning (I solved this problem by cooking my own food). You might also encounter other culture shocks. But, stick with it. It's just a new place with new things to get used to. When I stuck with being in the above 2 countries after encounter just a FEW bumps in the road, it became one of THE BEST places and experiences I ever enjoyed. So, stick with it, go with the flow and just be careful! Learn as you go.
You said that you're in Vietnam. But, these things may still apply.
Food poisoning happens many times if you eat regularly from the street. I think even if you eat from a restaurant you can get food poisoning. Just stick to home food or high quality restaurants.
