if i talked back in my lessons my mother would whoop my butt LOL
Same lol
Same! so would my trainer 😂
I’d have been told to get off and leave by my trainer😬
Same 😅
PATDTOP agreed
They look fantastic. A lot of horses need bigger jumps to back them off a bit; when I was jumping my horse (we do dressage now, lol) he would be a disaster over anything under 2ft, but bump it up to 2’9-3ft and he would find his own distance and be a complete packer. I think Finn will be that way too!
I feel like you guys should get some open front jumping boots because you are jumping higher then just cross rails so it would be good just so if he dose knock down a jump it won’t put so much pressure on his legs if it dose happen and even back boots if feels needed. But great job today 🎉🎉🎉
A couple weeks ago I commented a comment talking about Finn. I thought that he was always going to refuse and he won’t jump high... I didn’t believe in him. But recently Finn is being amazing! I should have never doubted him! He is a truly amazing little pony! Keep up the work gabby and Finn!
Xx livy I have always believed in Finn! He's the little man. 😍
Wow. That's so funny you thought that lol. The only time he ever really has refused a jump is when gabby hasn't supported him.
when the trainer said “ i just taught lesson on communication and not ONE of you communicated when changing directions” is literally my trainer in group lessons
Does Gabby need a better fitting helmet ? It looked as if she adjusted it way too often.
Im not sure as I couldnt tell from this video, but in other videos she has had the strap quite loose while riding. This was awhile ago :/ but could maybe be why.
Lucy C yes her chi star is WAY too lose
Lucy C a helmet should fit properly and stay on while riding even without the strap the strap is more for when you hit the ground to make sure it doesn’t fall off from the impact of hitting the ground.
I was wondering the same thing. She shouldn’t need to be fixing it as much as she is. Maybe it’s too big.
It will be good when she gets her new helmet for Christmas
"I feel she got herself her new horse..."
I wonder how Sophie feels about that, love your family, but also he's not big enough for her future needs as she grows.
He is perfect for now and she can teach him how to be great for sophie when she is ready.
DayByDay Vlogs Agreed, though working with Storm a lot can also help her with learning how to push. Your family is so blessed, love your girls, you, and Sam
He's actually a really good height, 14.2 ( which is how tall Finn is ) are good jumpers. I have a 15.3 and a 14.2, they both do eventing and the 14.2 competes higher than the 15.3 possible ever will haha! The 15.3 only does BE90 ( BE means British Eventing, the 90 stand for 90cm ) but the 14.2 does BE110 ( british eventing at 110cm! ) - my friend has a 14.2 and she has done jumps unto 135cm puissance. It depends on their schooling and how willing they are, not just height! Finn is a good height for Gabby and she looks much better suited on him to be fair aha.
Finn needs to learn to flex when standing still and vertical flexion so he is able to use his body correctly to balance himself, do small circles and make him have a curve in his body. Finn has developed a neck that is muscled along the bottom and he needs to reverse the way his neck muscles so he can lower his head. A few lessons with a western trainer would be really good because western uses these methods more, in English it is never really done.
Why don’t instead of getting gabby a new horse. Have her show on Finn and ride him for a little. Just to see how it goes😁
I kinda think fins not tall enough and he is sophias horse I believe gabby should at least lease a bigger horse but definitely still ride fin a lot
@@horselover849 Finn I think is 14.1 or 14.2 many horses compete at high levels even if they are 14.1-15hh 14.2 is the height where a pony is considered a horse. I ride 14.2- 15hh horses and I do fine showing. I think Finn is a good height for Gabby, but I do like Storm's height.
Barrel Racer2019, I remember in a video ( I may be wrong)
She said she didn’t love riding Finn and I think she needs a horse she loves
scout Finn is 14.2, that’s tall enough for gabby
scout well if he’s Sophia’s horse Sophia should be riding him.
After watching this video I really don’t think you need to spend the money on getting Gabby a new horse fin can definitely take her to the next level and teach her a ton he is perfect for her right now and this storm will definitely help Sophie gain her confidence back!❤️
Victoria B I 100% agree, Fin is to strong for Sophia. Gabby needs to work on Fin he’s a great match for her she can teach him and he can teach her how to train a horse and Sophia can learn on good ole faithful storm :)
I agree
There’s a lot Gabby can learn from training Finn - would be great to get him off the forehand and working more with his hind end. It does take time but it will help both learn. Gabby is a calm/quiet/bold rider - Training Finn for the next year or so will advance her skills so that she will know more for the next horse she gets. Safe riding💜
Gabby and Finn are PERFECT together.
Just wanna mention that the girl in poly in the background was a mood 😂
I think they are both learning a lot from each other! It's great to watch.
It’s always the difficult ones that are the most talented!
Gabby doesn’t need a new horse, Finn can do it! The photo for the video cover thing is so pretty with his knees tucked! And gabbys form over it was amazing.
I feel like fin is actually better for gabby then what he is for Sophia. He’s a lovely pony but he has some spark and needs a confident rider I think it’s great that the girls have almost swapped horses in a way. Gabby could do more with Finn then what she can do with storm. Well done today
Jade Will fins to short for her in the future
Thanks! Finn is perfect for her right now!
Kenzie Richardson not at all lol gabby is tiny in weight and will only grow maybe 2” taller she’s absolutely fine on fin and will be for the next few years to come
DayByDay Vlogs they’re great together and storm is perfect for boosting sophias confidence just like he did with gabby!
That's the Finn I've been waiting on! Good boy! Good job Gabby; especially since you fell off him. That can naturally make you feel a bit scared to ride & jump the next time. Good to see you work thru that.
It took a long time to get here but I think it was all our mistakes! So glad we are going in the right direction now!
I love how the other people watching the lesson are so encouraging. Real sense of support and love from that barn. 👏
Gabby did amazing. I love watching her progress. Can’t wait for Sophie to ride Fin more. Again, you guys are doing amazing💕
hi! sorry for the overload of info but if you follow along pretty much starting with the canter work these are the specific points i saw that you might want to know! i hope this helps!! i just wanted to say when your trainer says straighten him out to get the correct lead, you want to bend him around your inside leg to help him get the correct lead! also having a half seat is fine but you should try to lean back and get a full seat instead of bracing off your stirrups. you also tend to lean forward when you bring him down into the trot, so try and lean back and have equal weight on both stirrups. you need to keep contact too, especially in the canter and trot. he looks like he’s trying to lean and counter bend for you so you want to bring your inside rein up and support him with your legs! if you have a full seat he’ll listen to your transitions more as you’ll be able to bring him down easier, and it’ll be smoother. his canter looks like it tends to be kind of short so you want to lengthen it out by pushing him forward sigh your legs but holding him back with the reins. this should help with collection as well, which you seem to need. if he gets a little bit wily before the jump put more rein on him and support him with your legs so you’re essentially ‘setting him up’ for the jump. look to where you’re going, eyes always ahead instead of down right before the jump! he’ll be able to feel it and you have to look ahead so you can get ready to set him up for after the jump or potentially the next jump. bend bend bend! it’ll really help with his canter and going to the jumps, especially in your turns too and when he’s pulling against you support him with your legs and lift the reins to help support him (he seems to do this in turns especially, so push with inside and support with outside to get that nice bend. you want a snappier 2-point over the jump as well, so lean forward with your chest. you really need that full seat too, and you seem to need to push up with your chest instead of just forward and always keep your eyes up! always eyes up and to where you’re going! overall a good lesson, but to be improved! your last jump was really good too!
WOW! 😳 Look at Finn boy!! He’s just needs a confident and supportive rider! Umm, Gabby’s backtalk though, EEK!😧
The ear bonnet might be helping finn as it might block out some sound, he didn’t seem to spook or rush as much as usually and generally seemed much more relaxed!
Ya. I'm wondering as well.
It definitely seemed to help with blocking the noise out. Plus he wasn't shaking his head all over the place
True but you can't rely on one... It may encourage him to spook if you decide not to ride with one as he won't know what all the sounds are.
The English Horse Girl never said they should ride with one all the time🤷♀️ and it might just be because it’s an indoor arena, in an outdoor arena he’s fine but he might also be less stressed cause there’s other horses in there with him, he’s usually on his own
@@charlotteallen2228 I understand, I was just saying for a horse in training it's better for them to experience it all and have all the spooks at the start. I restarted my welshie and he's still in work and I try to expose him to things he's gonna see daily and make sure he knows how to respond safely.
I think Gabby just found herself a new jumper.
Love your videos!❤😀
I love gabby and finn😍 they are perfect together! They gonna learn so much of each other
Amazing job to both of you! I’m am so taken back. They are so powerful together and make such a great teach. Sofia and Gabby you guys did such a great job showing Finn how great of a horse he can be! 😊
Well done Gabby. I think Finn is happy having other horses around and was a good idea to have another horse jumping in the arena at the same time in the beginning - he could have the attitude: If he can do it then so can I. Keep up the good work Gabby.
Oh my goodness! I didn’t think Finn could get any better then the most recent lesson but wow! That topped Saturday’s lesson! I cannot believe how quiet Finn was, and responsive! He didn’t refuse once! At the end, when he jumped that oxer at the perfect distance, you could truly see how thrilled Gabby was. Finn was so so so so good! Maybe Finn plays a bigger part in Gabbys future than expected... 😊❤️🐴😃
Wow Gabby and Finn look incredible! I can see them being a fabulous team
I said a few months ago on a video on where Sophie was riding Finn had it was the best lesson I’ve seen of those two. He was framing and she had a burst of confidence. I said that day when I saw those two, that Finn in future will become what you guys wanted from him. And this very video is what proves he is that wonder pony. Good job gabby, rode darn well. Sophie you’ll be doing this one day 💪🏻
Thank you! Gabby is going to make him great for sophie!
Wow Finn has scope! Great riding Gabby!
Finn is growing up!! He jumped so well today. Great job Finn and Gabby!
The other student laying down on Polly in the corner 😂😂😂such a mood
hi!! :) i'd have gabby practice mounting the correct (and safer) way! left hand holding the reins and right hand on the pommel of the saddle instead of the cantle - this way your right hand does not have to move when you get on, and it is so much safer in terms of having more immediate control if your horse decides to walk off! it also is easier on the horse's back in terms of weight distribution. just a suggestion :)
Weldone Gabby and Finn!
You jumped really well
finn could be such a great pony show jumper
The girl lying on Polly in the background is so funny 😂😂
Okay this is just a random observation, but Finn looks like he would be an amazing barrel horse lol. The energy, the gait, idk he just looks like it would fit him 🥰
Well done guys. Finn is really coming along with lots of extra riding. Awesome to see. Good on you Gabby 😊
We want to push our horses chicken wang!lol
Ain’t no thang chicken wang.
She cracks me up SOO MUCH!
I feel like Finn is becoming a great little jumper!
Gabby- I know it’s scary, but once you do it once and it’s awseome and then you’ll want to do it again and again. The is used to happen to me all the time and that how I got over my little fear of not wanting to jumps bigger stuff. This still happens to me although I ride on of the easiest lesson horses at my new barn. You will do really good and it will look super awesome!!!
I know gabbys struggling to find the right horse and I belive she has finn can learn and in improve her so much he has such a lovely jump and it's a horse she can train like storm with finn being two foward for sophie he's not getting ridden as much as he should sophies a great rider and finn a hard have you ever thought about getting sophie a smaller traditional cob what can jump so she can her confidence up and not be scared to ride it I can tell that finn trusts gabby so much and grabby does to they have such a nice relationship and I think from the horses she's tried Finns the best one he pushes her to doing bigger jumps
We have storm who is a great beginner horse!
@@DayByDayVlogs yes he is he seems a lovely lad, I'm currently in a nut shell 😩 to I have a chirstmas jumping competiton and my schooling horse witch I normally ride is currently out of work but being brought back in and I got a trial for the job and I was finshed and I got to look after him as if he was my own and it was lovely. Its just a shame as its my first ever show. So I'm going to have to schedule a private for one of the new schoolies I'm not sure what to do either the 60cm or 40 🤷🏼♀️I hope everything is going really well for yous I didn't want to sound rude in my Comment becsuee I watch your channel all the time 🥰 and I'm literally in love your my favourite CZcams ever and lo e watching the girls ride with foania I learn so much! Yours and foanias conversations make me laugh so much to i hope everything works out and gabby and finn did so well and so did Sophie I totally understand how shes feeling.🦄💙 but tell her she's doing amazing and her riding improving every vidoe xx😁
Great job Gabby and Finn!!!!!
Gabby looks so good!!
i personally think buying finn was one of the best decisions you’ve made in your horsey part of your life.
he is perfect for gabby until she gets her new horse just in general and he will teach sophie loads once she’s more experienced, as well as he can be sophie’s forever horse and only horse💗
Finn is so honest ⭐️
9:57 aha that girl in the back is a mood!
Wow, Finn has improved so much... you must be very proud of him xxx
Finn may not be the tall horse that Gabby wants but Finn has so much to teach Gabby that for now he is just perfect for her to ride.
I say that Finn is the perfect horse for Gabby to ride because he is Sophie’s pony.
ME TOO
I have never talked back during my lessons. Partly because I am too shy to, and partly because I have never felt the need to. Guess it is just Gabby's nature! My teacher has never asked me to do something that I can't do, even if it may feel like it.
This lesson really showed that Finn has great potential. Now he needs regular flat and grid work to produce the muscle, balance and flexibility required to progress into a terrific jumper. It would also help Gabby get a deeper and stronger seat although all the work seems focused on developing a light forward seat🤷♀️. Need to be able to have both for stickability in my opinion 😆
Gabby kept touching her helmet. Is that a nervous thing or doesn’t it fit so well?
Gabby did very well, especially after the tumble the other day.👏👏
Sandra Back I don’t think it fits to well that’s why she’s getting a new one for Christmas
I love these kinds of constructive comments and kind explanations. It really helps for me to learn so much more. Thank you!
DayByDay Vlogs considering you are all equestrian novices, your ponies have come on very well. Your genuine love for them and honest endeavours to learn and do the best you can for them is to be commended.
There have been times I’ve 🤦♀️. But hey, we’ve all been there.👍🏻
the ear bonnet blocked some of the noise out so Finn was behaving better from what I can see
Hi daybyday! I just wanted toilet you guys know that i edited the picture of Finn jumping to really show how High he jumped! I ONLY edited the poles, not Finn! I would love to send it to you over Instagram if you want to see it :3
I’m only at one min into the vlog and I can already see a difference in Finn with the war bonnet. So maybe the ear bonnet is helping as they help muffle sounds and keep flys out of their ears in summer
Someone thing that I personally think gabby and Sophie should both do is flat work aswell as jumping. Circles serpentines leg-yield etc. It teaches the horses to bend round your leg and hopefully they will start to use their backs and form a nice shape. I understand it’s boring but it’s what I do with my horses and they move so much nicer now. Please don’t hate it’s only a suggestion xx
I agree
Honestly you guys have come so far, when gabby practices jumping she should try sitting before the jump and then going into jump position as then if the horse spook shell be sitting and have more control to slow them. Her and finn are such a good jumping pair😘
Aw Finn is going to be such an awesome jumping pony!
Nice ride gabby!!!!!!!!!! Those jumps looked really good when you went over them!!
Good job Gabby! I am sooo proud of Finn❤️
Yeah Gabby!!!
When Finns does something right make a HUGE deal out of it. That way he knows that’s where he needs to be and that he is a good boy. Gabby did a good job with petting finn and also using her voice to tell him that he is good and safe lol. she should try sitting in her saddle and stretching tall coming to the jump last few strides so she can ask finn to jump up to her and not fit an extra stride in. Looks good!
Gabby is doing so well with Finn! He is definitely a good challenge for her! Finn I could definitely see going to pony finals one day! He is an amazing jumper!
I watch you guys EVERYDAY OF MY LIFE
If you delete your channel I will cry like crazy
You guys are just amazing
All the horses are so cuteeee!
Gabby works so well with him! Maybe he should be her new horse until Sophie feels ready to ride him more ❤️
Naomi Juliana may as well there basically already doing it?
Kenzie Richardson ya the girls could switch horses for a while
There will always be ups and downs with horses, however hopefully this is a sign that there will now be more ups than downs with Finn. Perhaps if he’s being ridden a bit more and he has settled in to his new temporary home that’s making a difference too. Even the saddle might be helping 👍 I agree with everything Fionna said about Finn and Gabby, does she need to adjust her helmet though, I know she used to have a habit of touching it I seem to recall, so it might just be that 😊 Finn did seem so much happier and he’s definitely got more jumping ability than Storm, he’s going to make a super jumping pony, maybe even more of a jumper than hunter 😊 one thought, rather than completely releasing the rein to pat him ( although the release of rein is good), she could try just scratching by his wither, as a lot of horses do respond well to that too. Great lesson 👏👏👏
When he trips her pony tail pushes the padding up and she has to adjust it. Regardless she has a new helmet under the tree! I agree there will be lots of ups and downs still but I think consistent work with a firm rider will really help finn more and more.
@@DayByDayVlogs ah, low pony tail is the answer, but I was forgetting she has a new helmet 👍completely agree about Finn and the riding 😊
Goosebumps
Wow Gabby, you rode really well! That will be Sophie someday!
Awesome ride Gabby! Your such an inspiration!
I think that it’s great that gabby is taking lessons on Finn (even if she may not enjoy them) it’s going to make her a better rider in the long run! She learns so much about horsemanship with Fiona and I think that’s absolutely amazing that Fiona said she will never discourage that. I know it may sound weird but here in Texas I have Gone to a few stables that don’t promote horsemanship as much as Fiona does. Gabby has grown so much over the years and is only getting better! Much love!❤️💕
She is starting to enjoy him so much!
DayByDay Vlogs that’s so great! She looks more comfortable on him too!💕
Dang with some more training Finn is going to be such a great jumper!! Was just flying over that green jump!
i know they both had a bright future ahead :) ⭐️
Good job gabby I think finn is her horse perfect match
Good job gabby fin has changed so much over The weeks it looks like You got yourself a new horse merry Christmas to everyone happy holidays 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎁🎁🎁
Wow! Beautiful process. I love watching those two together. I hope Sophie was watching and able to see her horse making amazing progress. I think fin really thrives off the confidence Gabby gives him. Is that other advanced rider still riding him too? Amazing job!
I think that's it too!
In a personal opinion I think Finn might need his teeth floated because every time gabby adds just a tad bit of pressher he puts his head up.i had this trouble to and my horse would put up her head like Finn is so it's just a personal opinion
It’s because Finn wasn’t ridden with a bit with his old owners so he’s still getting used to that
Karlee Youngblut but don't you think they might start him with a loose rein because you can obviously tell that when he did those stops gabby was going forward and still having tight reins but I do remember now but it was just a personal opinion
He had them done 2 times in a row recently
Love your channel so much ❤️
You are a big inspiration to me .
Keep up the amazing hard work.
Good job Gabby you did amazing.
Also thanks❤️ for the advice and how it works with leather boots they have finally fallen down a tiny bit but they are still a tiny bit stiff but I know that the more I wear them the more they will fit better.
What brand are gabbys grey breeches? I’ve been looking for a nice pair for a while and I really like hers!
I am not a trainer but I used to ride a pony a lot like Finn, again this isn’t professional advice. Maybe try releasing a lot on him because sometimes horses appreciate it and completely slow down and stop pulling
You found you're new horse gabby wow you both where amazing
I wish I could have a group lesson in an barn like yall..I get lessons with my horse in my pasture with a home made jump...
Gabby, excellent job!
if gabby is trying to qualify for pony finals, i think you all should be aware that voice commands won't work in kentucky here! although they're a cool party trick and impressive, if a judge, especially at finals, here you making noise (even clucking sents a bad impression) they can deduct your scores! just wanted to let you know before finn gets too reliant!
Chants ** GABBY GABBY GABBY!
Lol you rocked it girl Hi DayByDay fam hope you guys are staying warm! My first nephew was born 5lbs 19oz 15” he is so tiny !!! And! We are moving into our farm as of today
She did so good !!
They look great together! However I think Gabby’s saddle fits him much better and that is one of the reasons he is behaving better. It looks like Sophia’s saddle is tight in the shoulder and it comes up and down in the back when you post/2 point. I would have it checked by a saddle fitter look at it or just use gabby’s saddle. Not hate just trying to help!❤️❤️
Wow way to go Gabby and Finn.... Maybe Gabby has found her new horse???
Finn is too small for her in the future
@@scarletbishop6289 true but he works for now.
Karen B. But he’s supposed to be Sophie’s horse?
I think you guys won’t need a new horse for gabby! Finn seems perfect and he will make her a much better rider storm and Sophie are Perfect and gabby and Finn, he had a great jump and a lot more scope to go 2.5ft if that’s even a thing (I live in New Zealand so it’s in cm)
Ruby McLeod Vlogs they’ve said it multiple times that Storm is gabbys and Finns is Sophie’s and that it’s not going to change
Well it’s not going to hurt if Sophie starts riding storm a bit more? Finn could take gabby far. And storm could get Sophie’s confidence up
Ruby McLeod Vlogs that’s what they’re already doing which is why sophie rides storm and gabby rides Finn more then the other way around x
wow finn can really jump 😍 holy moly !!! go gabby super riding ! u had a fall yesterday and just sucked up the nerves and got over it well done !!! i can really see an improvement in finn🥺💕
Wow Finn was flying over the jumps and good job gabby you was brilliant as well love you guys❤️❤️
Hi guys :) just a quick message to say Gabby did amazingly well on Finn, wow can that pony jump. Also when I rode I always was on a 14.2hh gelding, and i am quite tall 5ft 8, so that always worked for me size wise. Also wouldn't it be amazing if Gabby jumped Finn, then rode Storm in dressage,/ flat work , as it's clear those two will forever have a bond, and Sophie could try finn in trot poles and work up to very small jumps - a bit at a time :) to build her confidence up, because she's an amazing rider . Polly is amazing for her as well, even though shes big, she;s gentle. Oh and Denver is gorgeous :) such a kind boy. That riding school you are at has amazing horses and ponies - I think the pretty paint mare is called Lily - hope thats her name, she's gorgeous too. Fiona reminds me so much of my old riding instructor, she brought my confidence up by helping me so much, and I feel Fiona does this for Sophie.
Storm is a complete sweetheart :) and he takes care of Sophie, but with Gabby he's a cuddle bug as from the first time she saw him he came straight to her, and he knows she's his mumma, but Sophie is his auntie lol :) I love how you do what's best for your horses and Stella Belle, is amazing too, and her little mini Bff's - Willow and Gracie are adorable too.
I hope you don't mind this long message, but I love your vlogs and would love to know if Finn will be Gabby's jumping horse rather than getting her a new one. I think that the horse you wanted to try was meant to stay with his or her owner, as signs pointed to Finn being the horse that Gabby could go far on in her jumping, but still have her beloved Storm to have fun on , and as I have always said, getting to go and play with your horses - especially in the snowy weather is lovely :) and Finn and Sophie will get a bond that way too.
GREAT job Gabby. You are riding so awesome.
I’m so excited for this been waiting since insta
Finn was AMAZING!!!!!!
Gabby is doing a good job on. Finn. He is a lot of horse for Sophia. Finn needs a confident rider like gabby. Sophia is still very young and afraid. Storm seems to be more her speed or Stella. Finn is just a kid trying his limits and gabby is a must stronger rider. Great job! Love you guys
Agreed!
I can tell he likes jumping
Wow Gabby!
Finn is so pretty
Even talking back to Fiona gabby is so much more polite! Her riding is getting challenged by Finn and she’s still prospering! Jeez she should be SOOO proud of herself! Finn is absolutely perfect for her right now. God really did have a plan with you getting these horses. Even if they took a big turn haha
Yes!!!!! Baby steps right
Lol yes! So much change
