Hi @LockPickingLawyer - are there any versions of this type of safe you would recommend? The top mounting for underneath a desk is perfect for my use case. they need to either move the button away from the opening of the lock or at least have the button indented so you need something like a sim ejector tool to press it making it harder to press when the door is locked
A solution for that would be to glue a circular button protector around the button to prevent that thin probe in pressing the button. But it should have already come with that installed. You might also be able to force the mechanism through that same gap.

I appreciate the comment near the end. Intelligent children are naturally curious and will tinker with many things, especially when there's no immediate supervision. I recommend a gun safety training class as well, without education and experience one cannot develop a proper sense of respect and responsibility with firearms.
I think this offers good security. Buy a few of them and place them around to distract the person that is trying to gain access to your firearm. The beeping would offer a good indication of what someone is trying to do.Then keep your firearm somewhere actually secure.
Does Amazon have product testers? Nevermind stupid question lol...oh Amazon no wonder I don't shop with them🤣
Could the LPL have done this without already having access to an opened product to know exactly where the button was and access to the manual?
Amazon does not care whether the product is good or bad, it only cares about how well it sells.
Gitemstevedave You could probably Google the product and finds loads of info about it, even an owner's manual pdf would do.
Well, how else would you open it if you lost your finger?
A toe. Or someone who hasn't lost all their fingers and toes
Added a piece of metal to cover that flaw. Also the side screw holes that are not been used. Simple welding. This is for quick access to the gun in home defense cases and to protect from unqualified users like children. Thanks for revealing the flaw but is an easy fix. The product still good and cheap
You should upload this video to an Amazon review of the device.
As of right now, there are 34 Amazon robots disliking this video.
My first lock picking kit just arrived and LPL already posts
This is the only channel i get more excited the shorted the video is.
"I would normally focus on the mechanical lock, and this one does have its shortcomings." So, in other words, it can be opened in 2 seconds with an impressioning tool. Even so, the issue you address is a fair bit more interesting than just impressioning another lock.
Impressioning a lock requires proper tools and a bit of skill. This won't keep your kids away from your gun, which is probably it's main purpose.
What are you doing LPL .. we need ya in the raid to get us in :-(
Im in the hotel watching yt videos waiting for the rest of the world to arrive.
Area 51 raid? :)
Say hello to the microwave cannons for me, buddy!
It’s been an hour. He is already dead.
oh boy, make sure to waltz past the warnings and get arrested if you're actually there. Maybe I'll see you!
Deady DeadSh0t it got cancelled, idk if anyone is gonna come
Never a good sign when 1 dollar doesn't give you a second of video
At 0:26 You can see the screw heads inside the box through the door gap. I suspect you can find a screwdriver thin enough that you can completely dismantle this thing while its locked.
As always Excellent video Mr.L.P.L
I can’t even imagine the profit margin on this garbage.
To be fair, if you reprogram the gun-owner's safe, such that he can't open it any more, then you've just made him and his family safer.
Yeah, you went there! Watch out for the gun lovers club; they'll be around shortly to chomp on this bait!
I have seem numerous mechanical code door locks on the UK and I have to assume that they are easily bypass able as they seem to be very cheap. If so could you do an episode on them and their mechanics?
also looks like if its not put into a wall correctly or securely.. .you can just rip it out and most likely just use the screw that was in the wall to push the button after. One of the mounting holes is right inline with the button it looks like and only a inch or 2 away
the ads for the video are longer than the actual video.
Just pay for youtube. Worth every penny if you use it daily. I can't stand the intrusive ads either. If cant stretch to a couple of coffees each month then use a VPN to buy youtube via another country - no need for the VPN after setting up the subscription.
@@Wishwader no I'm fine with ads and I'll let them play happily. im just saying it's pretty pathetic that you could steal someone's firearm faster than a youtube ad.
I don't even have notifications, I just happened to open youtube
One of my favorite things about LPL's reviews are how much he respects children.
I imagine a lot of people would watch this and go "Okay who cares? A kid isn't going to know how to bypass a safe like this." However, LPL knows and acknowledges that
1: You can never be too careful with gun safety
2: Kids are, if nothing else tenacious and they have access to the internet as much as we do
3: Curious teens aren't infants. They have problem solving skills, curiosity, and should never be underestimated
Respecting the intelligence and problem solving skills of teens and kids goes a long way to benefiting everyone.
I was actually considering buying this. Thanks lol 👍
Amazon Basics is a terrible brand. Nothing I bought from them worked well. Cellphone chargers, USB cables, etc. all died within the first month.
But can you press it if there is a gun inside surely this will restrict it
Probably you still could. There's not set place for the handgun to be set and at the best would serve at a annoyance for the metal place to reach the button.
would love to see your review about ABUS Victory 68 lock, was that waste of money to try secure my bike
just by changing the way it's mounted this thing can be much safer.
if there were holes in the bottom part (where you insert the long metal strip) and it's bolted down to a desk. then that opening is obstructed.
but the one you have must be suffering from a manufacturing default.
somehow i saw this after 44 secs after upload
Probably due to lack of strong safety requirements and certifications for such devices.
Okay but... who would know that this is possible, and also, is it possible with a gun inside?
With all the fans and anti gun people, it's going to be impossible to shame this guy for showing how to defeat a gun safe that in all likelihood is only known to other occupants in the home.
Why are your videos so good? That was hilarious
Even without the shim, the steel is really easy to drill through and you can press the button with with a closet hanger
As usual Amazon's recommendations are trash. What a garbage company
I was searching your channel for good gun safe. I have biometric GunVault (biometric part broken) so using just the key. But it can be opened by fishing from the side. I was looking for similar style as you reviewed (minus biometric but still with PIN).
Is there something you actually recommend?
Easy fix, too! Put the button inside the lid. Even if you bent the peace of metal, there'd be no leverage top ress the button.
Hi @LockPickingLawyer - are there any versions of this type of safe you would recommend? The top mounting for underneath a desk is perfect for my use case. I see this one is no longer available due to the flaws you point out but what about similar ones such as the RPNB and Barska branded ones? They seem to be a similar design but I'm unsure if they have the same vulnerabilities.
Love this channel. Saving people a lot of money on trash!
@LPL, what if you whack it front to back in the lower part? Looks like the steel would give enough to bypass the "lug"
they need to either move the button away from the opening of the lock or at least have the button indented so you need something like a sim ejector tool to press it making it harder to press when the door is locked
Curious as to what you actually recommend for locks or safes
A solution for that would be to glue a circular button protector around the button to prevent that thin probe in pressing the button. But it should have already come with that installed. You might also be able to force the mechanism through that same gap.
Do gun lock recommendations
this was really helpfull, thank you. i subbed to u
It’s surprising how many gun locks can be easily opened easier than regular locks you use to lock garage or shed doors.
