Recorded in Seattle, during the last show of their 2002 Summer Of Love Tour, sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson and company put on one fantastic performance. Ann and Nancy Wilson are absolute national treasures. That's all there is to say.
How awesome is Ann Wilson? God I love her voice. And Nancy complements her beautifully. Flawless.
Ann Wilson has absolutely complete control over her voice. Fantastic!
she is just awesome, isn't she?
No. I've loved their music from the beginning but they never struck fear and reverence in me.
I like them both still hooked up on their music here in the year 2021 in all of the confusion life has to offer their top of my day to jam with
Ann Wilson is one of the best female singers ever. And this is one of their best songs. It brings back so many memories. I feel so fortunate to have grown up during this time period when so much great music was being made.
+Marsha Smith believe we could be friends for life, Marsha Smith....
Amen and Hallelujah sister! I remember going to their concert at an outdoor auditorium in Nashville TN and showing up late. Out in the parking lot I got chillbumps hearing Ann singing and we were 1/4 mile from our seats lol. She's rock n roll's Karen Carpenter :)
I'm glad that my parents like good music, and raised me on it. I'm 19 years old, these women are way before my time, but they, and Heart, are among my favorite artists. I guess I got lucky; very few popular fairly new artists are as skilled and talented as the classics.
James Rogers you have excellent taste, my friend. Heart got started in the big time of rock n roll with the release of the album 'Dreamboat Annie' in 1976. One of the very few bands who've had hit records in 4 different decades. Ann Wilson, despite being over 60 yrs. old now, is still a vocalist to be reckoned with....
before dreamboat annie they made their way as a zeplin cover band
The new music these days will never top them! Like if you agree!
to be fair, their contemporaries couldnt top them either
I wouldn't call today's crap music, nothing comes to close that era
True singers, not studio singers. Sounds as good as, if not better live than on record!! Always loved this song, didn't get as much airplay as it deserved.
This deserves 8 billion likes.
you ain't lyin ❤
First SAS Heart in 1976 in Chicago at the Auditorium theatre .they were aesume then and just as great today hats off to Ann sister Nancy and the entire band by the way Ann is unbelievable on the flute. From fan numeruno Aaron l
Best version I have EVER heard of this gorgeous duet. Made me cry for the inherent talent and beauty of these two sisters, and how we've lost almost everyone and everything like them. I'm soooo glad I come from their era, and also got to see them live in their heyday (at Jones Beach). Rock on ladies.
How is it that this song can make me so happy? This was INCREDIBLE; the sisters easily sound as good as they did back in the 70s.
It's just such an incredibly crystalline thing of pure beauty.
These two ladies know what their doing! BEAUTIFUL!!
Dog and Butterfly written and preformed by Heart... it's my favorite song by Heart...
2 years since losing my dog and a butterfly the same color came and circled me as I was thinking about the old soul she was. Even Marines can tear up. Then I listened to this song. Amazing. Had the pleasure of meeting the Wilson's a couple times. Nice people too.
Absolutely, positively amazing. These women are national treasures!
Damn, her voice sounds amazing and the song itself is flawless life. Wow!! Love Heart and always had the biggest crush on Nancy Wilson and still do.
Saw the Wilson sisters hmm, late 1990's, at a private party in a tiny Seattle club. Ann played either guitar or bass for the entire show. The talent and energy coming out of these women seems ...something superior to human.
I came here to enjoy the positive comments that exemplifies my generation of music. Thank GOD I was born when I was and was able to grow up hearing this music on the radio and eventually on my home stereo.
I was fortunate enough to see Heart live back in the 70's... what timeless music was made back then....
its 2013 that was in 2009 and it still makes my cry love this song so much
wow, such a beautiful song performed by two beautiful women.
They will always be beautiful; how can one not love such soul, such passion? This is the first time I have ever heard this song; just gorgeous, ladies!
You have good taste, Mike.
Definitely one of the best live version of this classic masterpiece.
Ann and Nancy are the two most talented women in the entire world! Just two guitars and their angel voices just makes the world sing! Heaven on earth! They have a special gift that we are blessed to be able to enjoy! Brings tears to my eyes! Just Beautiful! ~
I wonder if we truly know how fortunate we were/are to have these two very very gracious women in our lives for so long. My God they are fantastic!!!
Anne Wilson is one of the truest and purest singing voices ever!!
YES and in a Mans world' they had two strikes on them when they Started' Dam Good' and still became one of the Best Bands EVER
Renegade Wa 10cc
I love the Wilson sisters.....pure beauty, ALWAYS....and voices...I don't know what angels sound like but....can't be better than these two ladies.
Two of the most talented women in the music industry, now and always.
Definition of PERFECT

a : being entirely without fault or defect : flawless
You can’t get any better than sisters singing together. It’s what makes them great.
Love Heart, Love Anns voice and Sweet Nancy's playing.
Just saw them in St Louis. 40 years after their first album and they were absolutely amazing. No one can touch Ann Wilson's vocals. Best female group ever. One of the best rock bands ever. The test of a band is what they can do live - no producers, no tech crap. These women are in their 60s(!) now, and still gorgeous inside and out. Heart, you rock.
One of Heart's best songs. Such beautiful, evocative lyrics.
Still to this day my heart moves a beat when I see these two. Girls you are still just as beautiful as I remember you when I was a young man.
The guitar work is very pretty. It's nice to see them play by themselves. They have beautiful voices, and they play very well. I like this version as much as the original.
Beautiful song with a hell of a lot of hear,t by two beautiful ladies with a hell of a lot of heart.
They chose the perfect name.
So much love Ann & Nancy.Thank you for so many years of beautiful music!
And i just fell madly in love with Ann Wilson again, for like, 100th time in my life.. LOL.. Masterpiece..
Ann....One of the greatest set of pipes in rock.
I could just crawl up in Ann's voice and sleep the rest of my life way.
My very first favorite song when it was a very confusing time for me. My first of many things especially love! and of course finding the best beautiful and extremely talented women who inspire me to the very core!! God bless these women and their loved ones!
Beautiful version of "Dog and Butterfly" performed live by two of rock's greatest female artists; the Wilson sisters. They still harmonize beautifully together. What a treat.
Ann what a amazing voice..singers these days could Never hold a candle to you..ever..and Nancy you rock..
Heart was my first concert I saw in 1977 in Lousiville, Ky. They still rock!
remember them in my teenage years & watching them live 2 guitars & 2 angelic voices is just AMAZING wow !!! Go Gurlz !!!
Nice tribute to Skynyrd on this. Anne is wearing Ronnie Van Zant's style shirt, his jeans and she's even barefoot here like Van Zant always was on stage. The Wilson sisters are not "female" rock icons. They are Rock icons!
OMG!! I didn't think this!!!
Well, Janis Joplin also used to be barefoot on the stage.
wow,,,such an amazing song,,,ann and nancy r so amazing,,,I have not heard this so live,,wow so amazing,,,there voices r so strong,,,,we love you HEART
The Wilson sisters are without question the best female rock n roll artists of all times. Each of their voices. Together and separate are beautiful and heartfelt. they were my favorite band as a teen and they still are. I will never get tired of seeing them.
Favorite Heart song... and one of my favorite SONGS of all time.
I was mesmerized by this beautiful performance.
grew up in vancouver as a child in the 70's. We all knew Anne and Nancy were brilliant. I was so happy I got to see them in Grande Prairie aroun 2011. One of the most beautiful songs ever, and i'm a tough guy. Ty Anne and Nancy. It never gets old listening to a Heart song
a true picture of grace, beauty and god giving talent. something we need more of these days. my heart to their "heart" thank you for the gifts you have bestowed upon us, for all the world to see and hear. peace
The world IS getting colder for sure Anne and Nancy, but what thankfully remains is the ageless beauty of this song, your tireless talent and voice!! Thank you for continuing on and blessing your fans with performances like this. It's the middle of the night and I was just taken aback by this longtime favorite song of mine and it sounded BETTER than the original!! Wow!! I'm just floored and need to listen again. Makes me tear up thinking back to the days as a little boy with my puppy, Chipper, discovering butterflies and dandilions for the 1st time in the summer heat.... Heart is my hall of fame in music. Truly touches mine with this song!!😃😊😄
By far the BEST version of this song I have ever heard. Wow.
I agree I've always heard album version and this popped up and I never saw this but this blew me away.
YES
WOW IS RIGHT... No 2 women on the planet could even come close
My gosh, these women sound so good! Beautiful song.
I cry when i hear this song, it reminds me so much of you! thank you for the years you have loved me and made me feel so special! this band is so talented and beautiful! put them back on the air waves!!
Ann Wilson is a GOD!!!!
One of my favorite heart classics! Two very beautiful and talented ladies!
These beautiful sisters still sound as perfect as they did 30 plus years on this classic tune of their's. I wish them another great 35 years of great performances and the music and endless rainbow full of their great timeless music.
To all of today's so called artists. You've just had a master class in how it's supposed to be done. Vocal talent (NO AUTO TUNE ! ), instrumental talent, beauty, poise, humbleness. ALL AT THE SAME TIME ! Watch and learn.
They still have it.....wow. I have been crushing on them for most of my life. This is music at its best.
Nancy & Annie Wilson their ballads have made many of us fall in love... My high school days & my high school sweetheart hared so many passionate kisses listening to Heart... Mahalo Nancy & Annie for the memories...
Best band ever!
I'm now 53. Have been in love with her since 25 years ago. "Dog and Butterfly"
Heart was one of my favorites groups growing up, just love them.
On September 1st 2016 My beloved lab lady was was laid to rest . This was the last song i played for her . Thanks so much Ann & Nancy . I asked lady to visit me as a butterfly. Twice in the last week ive had butterflies hover close by! This song always reminds me of lady and to never give up. It also brings forth the tears that allow me to heal. May you both continue to bless us with your talents.
Anyone who loves their dog will feel the same way. I see our Buddy in the eyes of our 4 year old Sheltie Faith. You don't forget them.
This has been one of my favorite songs for the past 40 years or so....... always makes me happy.
5:36 You can tell Nancy thinks, "We nailed that number", Great response.
"Dog and Butterfly" is my favorite song by Heart. I was about 6 or 7 years old when the album " Dog and Butterfly" came out. In the 70's, music artists made commercials that advertised the release of their lates albums and I distnctly remember the commercial advertising this album. I actually think of that commercial and my childhood in the mid 70's everytime I hear this beautiful song. In the immortal words of Gregg Kihn " They don't write 'em like that anymore"!!!! Thanks for the memories!!!!!
Cool Little Lady,I Agree.
+james blevins👩🏾🐶🦋🙌🏾
These ladies are still great. Two truly talented artists.
My very best friend from High School was diagnosed with breast cancer just weeks ago......3 of us were informed in private. My tears flowed. A memory through music was sent from one of us three. I never knew how much this song meant until this moment.
Makes me cry so hard.
2019, was blessed to see Heart in Toronto. these sisters still rock.
Dog and Butterfly has always been the perfect song for any time of day when I need to hear Annie's voice!! She can soothe my broken heart!! I've known her voice since o was a child. I didn't know my Aunt knew her, since I found out late in junior high, dang!
But still this is the best song that soothes my heart out, forever!!.
Wow... Ann, your voice is gracefully restrained, yet powerful as ever here. So many vocalists today or more concerned about showing there chops that the beauty of the song is totally lost. Not so here. Ann's voice is like a powerful engine that's confident in its power and has no need to burn out, but rather cruise along gracefully, and Nancy's voice (awesome in its own right) blends seamlessly into her sisters. Very cool...
2 of the best, not to mention, singers, hottest sisters of my time.
This is absolutely beautiful. These two sisters are so amazing, so much talent, beautiful voices and great musicians! Why haven't they ever been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
nothing but love for these sisters...
Was in love when I first heard this song. Dog and Butterfly was the song to run to. Best rock band of all time.
two of the greatest sisters in rock and roll history God blessed you both ! Love you ladies
Love these two beautiful women, this song brings back so many childhood memories.
Ann and Nancy , what can I say that you already haven't shared with the world.... Amazing ....
True queens of rock. Oh… do, rock on. Much love from the other side of the world.
cant get enough of this song, for sisters to form a rock band, and stay together, is amazing enough, but the harmonies they gave us is even better Rock on ladies!
I’m a big grown ass man getting all emotional listening to this, Ann is phenomenal but with Nancy singing in the background is like angels for me! Icons!
wow.. they are amazing! Back in the 80S they were the best years! and the music was the best ever ! saw them in concert I the Early 80S I Houston,Texas they were the best ever! I love all of their music but my favorite will always be..Dog And Butterfly,God I Love that song!
+Nancy Whiting The 80s were ok. They were at their best in the mid to late 70s.
She would've been 87 today...means we're getting older :) I'll never forget her trying to explain how mama backed out of our driveway without a single tear drop or even a backward glance. I put my hand on your back when you cried and you came to get me out of my tree because you were the only one who knew where I went when I cried. That's how we did it. I'm glad you made it back safely to your strange town and thanks for getting me out of my tree again. I love you sissy.
WOW... such beautiful & NATURAL voices !!!!
G d gave planet Earth Ann and Nancy we all love both of you.thanks from the bottem of my Heart no pun intended G o d bless both of you Aaron l
Still has her voice after 40 years!
It's not often that you combine operatic voices with incredible instrumentals and unforgettable lyrics that make you -- well, want to cry. Especially if you're a dog lover, and have actually seen a butterfly kiss your own dog's nose as my Welsh Corgi's was touched by a small fluttering little yellow "friend" one day in a park outside some hot springs in Pagosa Springs, Colo. That experience is still magical in my memory, like this Heart song.
beautiful............I'm so lost but I hear this song and it makes me strong.................
one on the best shows when i seen them in the 80's & they kicking out the tunes
One of the best groups of the sixties seventies eighties and no one in these days today could even come close to these groups this gal Anne and her sister Nancy could play and sing like no others can compare they come right from the heart and give you the song true what they are
They are so great when they drop the Hollywood acts.!!!
Yes Nancy, Dog and butterfly is s deep soulful song, Heart put theirs into it,!
Just as beautiful as the day they recorded it. They are truly amazing!!!❤❤
Beautiful music these two sisters make. What a connection they both have to each other. Only way meaningful music is ever "made". Luv ya girls ! ! ! ! !
ONE OF MY FAVORITES!! LOVE THIS BAND!!
Seen them in 2010 and they are truly amazing, very talented and heavy.
beautiful ladies, amazing voices, such a powerful song sung so right...
I'm back again. Had to get my Heart fix! Jesus. Complete, and utter perfection. No equal. So strong, yet so subtle. So sweet, yet so intense. Thank you Ladies, we all LOVE you's!!!!! :)
I went to school and i listened to this song today. I voted for this song. So this song did not win but i think the've diserved it 👧🏽😽😺🤗😝
I cry every time I watch this video. Perfect rendition.
Two of my favorite rock goddesses! Pure genuine and performance of the highest quality.
what a beautiful mix. nancy highlights ann's singing, and ann plays rhythm while her nancy destroys on guitar. i love these gals, always have, always will!
I love you both not only for your gift to us with music and the songs, but that you are family. I hope you 2 can work it out to play music once again together. Life is too short for unforgiveness . Kiss and and make up . Love is all you need. Much love and respect to you both. My only regret is I didnt get to play guitar in your band. And Ive had a crush on Nancy 40 yrs.
