In 1981, six years after joining Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks went solo for the first time with her debut album ‘Bella Donna’. A massive success, it sold more than five million copies in the U.S., topped the album charts and produced four hit singles, including her signature anthem, "Edge Of Seventeen." More platinum albums followed - ‘The Wild Heart’ (1983), ‘Rock A Little’ (1985), and ‘The Other Side Of The Mirror’ (1989).
In 2019, Stevie Nicks made history by becoming the first female artist inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice - first as a member of Fleetwood Mac in 1998, and most recently in recognition of an extraordinary solo career that spans nearly 40 years. - Hudba

She is THE female rock icon! She is ageless. I have loved her since the mid 70s.
Totally agree! I have been a huge fan since 1977 when I was 11 years old. Love Stevie Nicks 💕💕💕
I like her music that's why I'm here, but would say there is no "THE female rock icon" Pat Benatar, Grace Slick, Janis, Wilson sisters Ronnie Spector and many more.
N3GAN So haven’t I!!!!!!!
She's brilliant but aren't you forgetting Pat Benatar when talking about icons :-)
Me too. I didn't listen to Fleetwood Mac it was her I was listening to.
Refreshing to see a crowd of people not having their phones up recording and actually listening and enjoying the performance.
You gorgeous little witch!!!!
Lars ya ⚡️💙

You know it. Stevie and Lindsey. Pure love ❤️. And heartbreak
X.
Damn, the amount of respect I have for backup singers. The hit EVERY single note perfectly, they harmonize like FEW people can, and they bring the vocal production of a show to the highest level humanly possible. They really are the backbone of the song by making it feel HUGE and powerful. If you’re a non-musician, next time you see a live performance with background singers I strongly suggest you take a couple of minutes to focus only on them and you’ll realize how amazing their work really is!
I absolutely love background singers 😍
Exactly. They save this song.
totally agree, like these ladies dancers also adding to backing vocals:
czcams.com/video/nTBFy4rc6Lw/video.html
I know a guy who doesn't have an impressive vocal range but his ability to harmonize is just so mesmerizing. He can harmonize on the spot and once I heard him do it, I wish I could, too.
As a lead & backup singer myself, thank you for noticing the contribution of backup vocals! 🙂
Can we get some love for Waddy?! Amazing guitar!
Outstanding artist, great tone!
Waddy has not ever gotten the recognition he deserves, truly amazing
And Waddy is still going. He played this song at Stevie's performance at her induction into the Rock Hall of Fame in 2019. He is still truly amazing! And so is the other guitarist playing in the background.
I'd love to hear Lindsey Buckingham playing this for Stevie.. Lindsey would shred this guy.. everyone knows her voice sounds better when Lindsey is playing guitar on her songs.. with Fleetwood Mac anyways
Indeed, a legend, not only with Stevie, many others. Killer tone and a cool-looking dude.
Saw her yesterday in concert. Shes 76 and still rockin the house. Abs amazing
Alright Stevie,Ur so awesome.U go girl

This is the best version of this song by far !
I had a friend in high school that sounded like this and had the same sandy blonde hair. She has a cover band, now, and makes a decent living at it.
Jesus Christ, this performance is extraordinary!..Stevie's one of the best female rock singers of all times!..Yes, sir!..

The woman is 70 years old and amazing! Her voice still sounds the same after all these years vocals truly frozen in time.
m Bak no she doesn't sound the same. Watch her live 1982 and she slays this sing. Rock on to the snowqueen...Stevie!!!!
yeah but why hasn't waddy watchell aged? i wonder if the two of them still...
She doesn’t do many of the high notes so that’s probably why it sounds a bit different but still sounds good 👍🏻
m Bak 70 years young. No-one would believe it & she doesn't look a day over 35. Mind you it's marvellous what money can do for a person. Let's put it this way i most certainly wouldn't say no even at her age. She still looks GORGEOUS!!!

I'd go see her (FM) next year, but can't afford a $1000 ticket for a concert.
Wonder why their not
Damn straight
Only woman voted in twice. The queen of rock and roll
For sure i will vote!
You’re watching the goddess of rock and roll perform an amazing rendition of a song she made four decades before, she sounds unbelievable and gives a powerful, timeless performance…and you realize she is 70! Stevie proves there is no barrier to enjoying your art and bringing others to the party, age or otherwise, and the presence she has on this stage proves she is doing what she was born to do. Amazing. ♥️
I absolutely agree!!!!
she was early 60's when she did this performance if 2011 was the correct date for the show. never really listened to her music, but i do like this song. she has a great voice no matter of age.
Like a fine wine, gets better with age baby!

Never gets old. Waddy Wachtel is the only man. Really
To change the subject slightly, kudos to Waddy Wachtel for playing all those 16ths for over 12 minutes. The guy must have a metronome built into his wrist.
Dalwhat No kidding!! Hardest thing to play as a musician...the same thing over and over again without any deviation. The man is an amazing guitar player!
Dalwhat Glad someone else noticed this, my wrist would fall off.
don't know about the rest of you, but i play guitar and that reversed bass drum (on the up count) during the verses screws me up so bad. I need to follow the singer for the verses.
He killed it... I wouldn't expect anything else from this legendary guitar player. Craft and passion always...
The real amazing thing is he doesn't have to use his feet to keep rhythm. If I want to keep my timing in check, I gotta move my feet in some way. Then again, I'm not the best guitar player hahaha.
Stevie is one of those rare artists that actually sound BETTER in person than in a studio. Truly a powerful voice
Holy shit, no one ever will come close to Stevie, what an absolute legend
From Sydney Australia, I’m 70 and have watching Fleetwood Mac since they started.....
The backing vocalists were phenomenal.
This is easily the best performance of age of seventeen I think Stevie ever performed.. Well definitely the best I've seen..I love her voice ❤️
Much, much longer intro than her RnR HoF induction.
After all these years Stevie's voice is still haunting and this song elicits shivers. Great backup singers. Props to the guitarist

Stevie Nicks is the foundation of so many true artists, nevermind female artists! She has definitely left a legacy due to her knowledge and talent ❤
It's so beautiful to see such different live versions of this song at different moments and moods in her life. My two favorite versions of Edge of Seventeen are thirty years apart. Totally different and both uniquely perfect. I've also never seen someone age as gracefully as Stevie. Her backup singers are extraordinary and Waddy is a beast on the guitar, they have great chemistry,
Is is the same Waddy as was in 1981?

No
@@miguelgrande7911 why no? It's true
underrated legend. Does arrangements too
Along Lukather, Tedesco and Larry Carlton. This man worked with almost all great singers from last 50 years. His hands are on more n1 hits than the Beatles. So... Yes. He is a legendary player and one of the most in demand guitar players ever.
Hats off to the sound engineer. The balance is supreme!!! IMO❤️
With you on that one. Sounds amazing in my Beats. :)
If you have ever ran a sound board you would certainly have to agree with you sir.
Yep......99% of the band is mixed perfectly. But, as a sound guy who's had to put up with guitar player egos, I can tell you right now that if the sound guy was given his druthers, he would've buried Wady Waddell's guitar. It was all mid and high end barfed together with a thick layer of distortion that no EQ or slight of hand trickery can fix. Every sound man has a "suck button" for exactly this reason. But, as politics go, the sound guy has to eat so, he does his best with what he has to work with so he can be hired again or continue in his present gig. Its always the guitar players.....always. Lol!
I thought the same thing...
AKA SGSVirgil utter bollocks. The guitar tone perfectly fits the song. The distortion grabs you by the nuts and makes you sit up...ready for the queen to take the stage and own it. The song isn’t meant to be smooth MOR. It’s a rocker, and it slays.
Timeless!!! Every man older than 50 was in love with
Even us gay ones.
Her voice got better as she got older AMAZING! She was put on this planet to PERFORM!
You must be kidding. Her voice in the 70s and early 80s is far better than this. She's yelling part of this.

I have known Stevie since I was eighteen in 1977 and in 1985, Stephanie introduced me to Tom Petty. Just the most special woman on Earth, kind, sweet, does not tolerate fools and a superb judge of musical talent. Years ago I was told the next best session guitarist in the world to Glen Campbell was Waddy Wachtel, and he is just so good. I love Lindsey Buckingham, and he can play triple harmony with himself, but from BellaDonna through to today, Waddy is just captivating when Stevie is playing solo, he is relentless in his rhythm and if you have ever heard him play power guitar like he did October 5, 1986, at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, on Stevie's Rock A Little Tour, honestly he can easily numb the world's best rock guitarists into silence, just phenomenal and a nice guy. Hope you are well Waddy, and Stephanie, you will always have my love, you are the best ever.

This is the best version of Edge I have heard and seen. Stevie holding those long notes is epic. No one will ever come close to her talent as a song writer and her voice is one of a kind and still beautiful. Rock on Stevie.
I was 24 years old in 1981 when the album Bella Donna was released... I am so touched to read all these admiring comments for this extraordinary singer-songwriter!
Why isn't this in front of 50k people?
I LOVE the guitar intro and outtro to this song. It is so deserving that guitar veteran Waddy Wachtel gets a few minutes of stage presence, adapting his guitar sound to the dark, mysterious, nervous tone of Stevie's song.
Those who doubt Waddy's qualities as a so-called 'amateur' guitarist should check their facts. His resume reads like a history of rock. So many musicians chose him to perform on their albums, and even let him produce them. I am talking about (and this is mostly from Wikipedia): Fleetwood Mac, Buckingham Nicks, The Everly Brothers, Jackson Browne, Kim Carnes, Rosanne Cash, The Church, The Cowsills, Bob Dylan, Silver Condor, Gilby Clarke, Melissa Etheridge, Bryan Ferry, Bernard Fowler, Andrew Gold, Don Henley, Carole King, Miranda Lambert, The Motels, John Mayer, Maria Muldaur, Randy Newman, Steve Perry, Iggy Pop, Bonnie Raitt, Keith Richards, Linda Ronstadt, Adam Sandler, Bob Seger, Carly Simon, The Rolling Stones, Keith Richards, James Taylor, Tom Waits, Warren Zevon, J.D. Souther and Laura Allan.
And many others.
So open your ears. And show some respect.
Andy Summers riff though!
simonclingan If so, then this must be the first time in rock history that one guitarist steals another guitarist's riff... :-)))
Preachin' TRUTH
Hannes Minkema He's really awesome. They are just jealous!
Hannes Minkema hes a good studio musician for sure but hes no guitar god every time i listen to this i think man thats all you could do for stevie before this song it was like back and forth solo then song intro then some kind of solo? then song intro
Dang, that kick drum is trippy - hitting the '+' of 1 for the verses then back on the 1 for the chorus! That can't be easy to keep the right timing for everyone else - can't lose concentration for one second! Amazing tune and band, Stevie is a Goddess!
Hey kids, I just turned 80 and this is the music I listen to. Listen to them in the car 5:06 only say this because of my age people don’t understand ,slammed Corvette on 20s 12 inch rubber on the road nice exhaust ,but it’s the music that makes it complete always the music.
One of the most influential female voices our her generation!!! Her and Anne from Heart, Pat Benatar, are the leading female voices of Rock n Roll!!!!! Such a gifted and amazing woman!!
10S Coach And Joan Jett wasnt??
You just named my favorite female rock singers from the 70s and 80s.
Do not forget Chrissie Hines of the pretenders!!
Add Tina Turner to that list.
I came to the exact same conclusion. After listening to tons of bands throughout the 70s and 80s. Stevie Nix, Ann Wilson and Bat Benatar were my top three. Everybody says what about so and so... nope sorry. They didn't have that extra special something.
Damn, this performance almost sounds better than the original, recorded version. Love the solos. Love Stevie's voice still, which seems to have only ripened at this age...
Agreed!!
I honestly think it is better than the original, which I love.
Agree
Her and Steven Tyler
Timeless Sister 🎶
Stevie Nicks iconic, backing singers, band and orchestra fantastic, lead guitarist mesmerising, who is that man?!?!
Waddy Wachtel…check him out
My all time favourite song and every time I’ve seen videos or heard recordings of Stevie performing it live it’s even better. Chills.
everyone is listening to Stevie in 2020.......she is an extraordinary ......talent.......

🔥🔥🔥
Waddy's 'time keeping' steady chord is a testament to his talent, experience, and as the long time band leader and guitarist for Stevie - while her phrasing of the lyrics against the melody showcases her talent and skill in presenting this classic.
How could she sing so well at this age?
Still sounds like she's in 80's
Sixties! D'oh!
😉
Sounds better
Leans to keep from tressing her voice and keep healthy... Which i had Cancer on my Vocail cords which many Artis Music performaning gets hit with it
@@bobvdussen4138 Sad but true..I have the scar on my throat to prove it..
Lost all high notes after operation...but I can sing as low as Roy Orbison etc now.. and I am female.......strange things happen...x Beyond me btw...
She still sounds Amazing ! I hope this generation gets a listen to a rock goddess and appreciates a voice with pure, raw emotion and love. Love ya Gypsy woman
They have ...Adele ...
Jeff Stoops
Adele's definitely good...but she's no Stevie.
Collin H Damn straight she's not :D
No one like her. One of a kind. Spiritual. Cathartic. THE BEST. ❤❤🙏🙏
I was 16 on the edge of 17 when the Edge of Seventeen was released.
Damn I’m getting old.
I'm currenly 18 and I feel old.
Ja gut song 👍🌟💥🇩🇪
You and me both! But it's okay. We grew up with the best music ever. It still keeps me going through these crazy times. Music is the one thing that unites us all, even in a time when everything and everyone else tries so hard to divide us. UNITY!!!! I'm sending love and happiness to everyone who reads this.
No one gets out of life alive... this song does nothing but remind us of that ...
@@janxander6535 Sure did...80s was the best...Never to be repeated...
Who is listening to Stevie in 2020?
1979 is still listening!!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Always listening!
She is awesome loved her since the 70;s
Always and forever 2020
Yeah
The stars lined up for me when this song came out. I was 17 and just about to go and serve my country. I was stationed on the USS Dwight D Eisenhower, a nuclear carrier and for some reason the ships on board tv system got MTV, which was basically brand new at the time. And they played a lot of Edge of 17. And I fell in love with Stevie. We were out in the middle of Atlantic ocean dealing with Iran and we spent 94 days straight off of Lebanon. This was before women were allowed on the ships. And to have this new entertainment which every young man loved... well it was a special time. Still to this day my knees buckle when I hear Stevie's voice. She made a fan for life.
You can see Waddy (lead guitar) running around and directing the band on when to make changes, and then running over to face Stevie and counting her in to the vocal parts. Very cool way to keep everyone tight!
Noticed she was staring at him but didn't actually notice that he was counting her in. Cool, you can see him stomp his foot when counting
Waddy burns the guitar up with some of those riffs. He was a damn good guitarists. Underrated. Back up singers are right on too.
When will Waddy get into the Rock Hall of Fame? He deserves it! That Blonde Back-up Singer looks just like my high school sweetheart that I lost in 1970. Damn, was I ever stupid at the age of 17!
And curly playing a Les Paul, it mean shit is going down
I saw her in concert a couple years ago in Charlottesville Virginia. She's an awesome performer. And yes she still has her voice.
Saw her in NYC, no words, I was in total awe.
Yes SHE'S GODS GIFT TO US

This is the best live version of this song in my opinion.
Words could never describe the amount of Talent this woman has. I grew up in the 70's and 80's Stevie is my Queen.
Wow! Excellent performance by everyone. Stevie's voice hasn't changed in four decades. Bravo!
Eddy Secco Exactly. For a live performance, this is about as good as it gets.
+Eddy Secco same key of E as the original too. not very common to be able to maintain it with this type of singing.
+Eddy Secco her voice has changed MASSIVELY in most live performances, but this is really good
+Sally Ulianich tòmm
+Eddy Secco Deeper and deeper through the years! How many have said they hear a goat?
SHE IS SO BADASS IN AN ELEGANT, CLASSY WAY IT'S AMAZING HOW SHE CAN BE BOTH WITH THAT UNMISTAKEN VOICE THAT'S LIKE NO OTHER AND THOSE GREAT THEATRICS COMMANDING THE STAGES AS ALWAYS AND OUR EVERY THOUGHT!! YOU ARE THE GREATEST STEVIE!!🎤🎶👠💜🌟🍭🎼💛🎸❤️⭐🎆
I m 67 now and she looked and sounded the same when I was in my teens. Amazing !
Shhhhh!
