Safely clean electronic throttle body without removing. This video shows how to clean a drive by wire throttle body or how to clean electronic throttle body without removing it from the car. It also covers how to clean drive by wire throttle body in general. The procedure is done on a 2013 - 2017 Honda Accord and as such specifically covers Honda Throttle body cleaning, even though the principles are the same for other cars. This is one tune up item to do if you have a rough idle with no check engine light. If you have a car with poor idle, and you're wondering how to fix a poor idle, this is one of the things that should be on your list. A drive-by-wire throttle body differs from a cable throttle body, as it uses electric motors to open/close the butterfly plate. These electric motors can be damaged if not properly cleaned.

some electronic throttle body doesn't move if you don't start your engine, no worries just have someone press and release while you spray the throttle body cleaner, throttle body cleaner also helps clear carbon deposit on your piston so its actually a win win situation just make sure your assistance press the gas pedal at certain rpm to make sure the engine doesn't stall

Not quite right. You forgot to mention to let all the carb cleaner completely evaporate before re attaching the air hose [ about 30 minutes] so that the high octane cleaner does not trip the O2 sensors and cause a rich/lean code to come up.

How do u clean the butterfly if dirty? Can butterfly open & gas pedal pressed while engine is off?

Good question. Depends on the car. For this car, ignition has to be on/engine off with the foot on the gas pedal for the butterfly valve to open.

Some car don’t open butterfly even if in ignition and gas pedel press ! Mostly in Nissan

This is with the ignition on, correct? Not sure if a scan tool can be used in this instance or whether it's one of those situations where you take care to clean like on drive by cable systems. Still searching for more info around this...

I agree that the best for this is throttle body cleaner. I was out of stock at the time and needed to do this as part of troubleshooting I was doing at the time.

Yea. Some cars are like that. You may then have to just push it open or command it open with an appropriate scan tool.
