    Never spray directly into the Throttle Body as it will just push gunk into the air passages, then you have to pull the TB to do a thorough cleaning of the whole TB.. Hence why the TB will act funny sometimes after a spray cleaning. Always use a rag sprayed with TB or Mass Air Flow cleaner.. Never use Carb Clean. I know 99% of folks don't. Just wanted to add that part about Carb Clean! Lol. If using a rag undo the Neg Battery Cable, turn headlights on, drain the electrical system of any charge left in the whole system. Then unplug the TB. You can then move the butterfly by hand with no harm to an Electronic TB without damaging the TPS Sensor or Servo Gears or the TPS Motor. Happy Cleaning. You can thank CZcams for a snowy day time killer and the recommended must watch videos.. Or i would not be here! Lol.

    • @MrDan1509
      @MrDan1509 Před 4 lety +3

      @Maurice Arnold Carb Clean will hider non carb parts, it leaves a varnish on all parts. Non Chlorinated Brake Clean, Throttle Body Cleaner and Mass Airflow Cleaner is basically Contact Cleaner, it leaves no residue nor will it hurt electrical equipment.. Carb Clean is very harsh also, it will destroy gaskets.. Carbs are way different than TB's, Sensors and so forth.

    Honda Accord euro 2009 2.0 R20A3 just cleaned out whilst ignition on position 2 and weight on gas peddle so butterfly is fully open/closed. After clean, disconnect battery for 15 mins, reconnect with all lights and radio off, go to ignition positon 2 for 2 seconds, then start car, run at 3000rpm for 5 mins or until fan kicks in, and throttle position relearn is all done, set ready to go. Idle rock steady and running sweet 👌😙. This teaches ECU the adjusted position of throttle after it has been cleaned

    Always do throttle recalibration after cleaning TB to reset the ECM compensations of throttle position and MAF inputs. They adjust over time to compensate for TB dirt and require manual reset after cleaning TB.

If you don't do a re-learn the throttle will remember the way it was when it was dirty even after you cleaned it giving the engine false reading and you car will still act as if it was dirty not giving you good performance.

    Hi Rob, I cleaned the throttle body the way you demonstrated in your video but now I got a check engine light with code P0507 for idle air control RPM to high. The car idle surges up & down parked in the garage without pressing the gas pedal. I was told that possibly I got an air pocket in the coolant system when I disconnected 2 coolant lines and I need to bleed the system. I did an idle reset/relearn procedure when I disconnected the negative battery cable but did not help out. I will try to bleed the coolant system tomorrow. Do you think I damaged the idle air control valve when I sprayed the throttle body cleaner?
