    Fun fact, there are 5 versions of this song - the English version and one in each of the 4 official languages of Switzerland (French, German, Italian, and Romanche)! It's supposed to be a kind of love letter to their homeland.

    Loved it! I cannot wait for more Eluveitie! I gotta give a recommendation for 2 tracks off of their Helvetios album. The very first track (Prologue) and the second track (Helvetios). The prologue sets up the whole album (it's a concept album about the Gallic wars from the perspective of the the Helvetians), so it's really good to do the first two tracks as a single reaction. It just sets everything up so very nicely. And Helvetios is on the heavier side. Still has an awesome rhythm though. I think you'd love it from an instrumentation standpoint. Anyways, great reaction! This song is awesome. They actually made a French version of that song called "L'Appel des Montagnes" which is the perfect translation of the English title.
    And actually they played the French version on a gig just after the terrorist attack in the Bataclan in Paris in November 2015, as a beautiful tribute. A good friend of mine was at this show, that I believe was in Glasgow, and he told me that the emotion was so deep, everybody cried in the audience and even the band. If you want to go down the Anna Murphy rabbit hole, when she left Eluveitie, a couple other members left with her and are in another band called Cellar Darling. Black Moon and Avalanche are good songs to check out.

    I just realized that this has very similar riffs and progressions to "Shot in the Dark" by Within Temptation. Hadn't noticed that before.

    • @haxxy40
      @haxxy40 Před 3 lety

      Yes. I wonder if that is intentional and if they credit Within Temptation, or it is just coincidence (which I doubt because 'Shot in the Dark' chorus sounds too much like their intro)

    Love me some folk metal. After the last one I was kinda meh going into this, but this is really good. The key change towards the end really gave the song new life when it was starting to get a little tired.

    Thanks for another great reaction Chase. I just posted this comment/request on another video of yours but it fits better here:
    I’d love to hear what you think about Cellar Darling - they are formed by a few former members of Eluveitie including Anna Murphy. They are a folk/prog metal band. My favorites are “Insomnia” and “Death” which are from their latest album. Their live sessions of those songs are great but I really think the studio version is best for a first listen because it’s properly balanced/mixed - which has a huge effect on the general feeling of these songs.
