thanks for making this video. I removed my blower fan, blew out and washed the evap and got my a/c from 68 degrees to 41. 2 hours total and couldn't be happier.

Excellent video. They should have made a cabin air filter standard equipment in all trim levels to prevent this problem. If the air flow got very poor people would be forced to replace the filter.

I was thinking the same thing about fashioning an air cabin filter for my ford explorer. After finding that a small screw fell through and destroyed most of the fins on the blower. Thanks again for the great mod ideas.

Looks like a construction truck. Exactly the situation with the truck I drive, it is in dust conditions all day. Although our 550s dont have twist off blower motor, I will fight the screws off.
Good tip on a intake filter too. I am looking at getting a foaming cleaner to try, hopefully it doesnt just make a muddy mess. Its probably 90% blocked now. Thanks for these videos!

Great video! I have just gain new respect for Ford. Finally, a manufacturer has created a twist and remove/install for an HVAC blower assembly! So many manufacturers are still mounting them with fasteners, and some manufactures require dash removal to get to some of those fasteners!

I was wondering how does the 08 F150 HVAC case compare to the one shown? I'm about to undertake a cleaning project on mine. I don't think it's as bad as what you have here, but I want to clean it before it's plugged fully. When I shift from heat to cool mode, I get a "Dusty" smell.

Took my Excursion to three diff shops not including dealer for a/c not getting cold enough. Not one suggested replacing the evap in dash. Finally after looking at a few videos I bought an oem evap and directed them to replace mine and out came a very dirty old evap covered in dog hair matts. Now the a/c works much much better but still don't have 41 air.

I have a 2011 f650, looks very similar & I was having low velocity. Since I knew about this problem because of a previous truck due to no cabin filter, I replaced my evaporator coil, air temperature sensor, expansion valve & dryer. Blows with high velocity but now it's only blowing at 65° from vents. Used to blow 50-55°. Got any ideal what could be going wrong or what could have been installed improperly? It's sure hot in texas.

Have a 2010 f150 crew. Blower seems like its blowing fine, but had someone tell me doesnt feel as hard as it should. Ac blowing cool, but not cold anymore. Debating on whether its a blend door or not. Been like this a year. Seems my year F150 has no easy access to the evap to clean it unless you cut a hole in the airbox behind the glovebox. Any suggestions on things I should check before I cut this hole? I hate to do it, but I dont have $1200 to have someone pull the dash. Had the system sucked down and recharged. Pressures are holding great. No change in coolness. Pulling about 40 degrees at the vent on speed 2 while driving, about 50ish degrees on speed 4 while driving. Thanks for any help.

I'm trying this method, with the addition of a borescope camera attached to a flexible blower nozzle. I can see the solid cake of dry mud on the evap coil, and some areas that have broken off. The thing is, going through the blower motor access, it's pretty much impossible to do more than just reach one area of the coil. Am I missing something? How can you see the coil without a camera in order to clean the whole thing? Any more details or Macgyver ideas on how to access / clean this thing would be great. Also, anyone else have success with this?

  • @GregSnoke

The truck I'm working on has this problem, but it doesn't have factory air condition. Would it simply be the heater core that's possibly gummed up with dirt? No evaporator, as far as I know.

  • @endurotruckererniedesjardins

If you don't clean your interior, the dust has to go somewhere and that right into your evap . DONT BE LAZY... VACUUM AND WIPE IT CLEAN .
As for cleaning, castrol superclean and the power washer works pretty good.
Reason I've experienced this problem, I'm a trucker, lots of times previous trucker in the truck was a FUCKIN PIG.... and didn't clean. So I get to fix it myself or roast in a hot rig
