not just the base game but the DLC too?
You can tell he's absolutely loving the game
To be fair the dlc is just the continuation of the game. The base game is like 1/3 of the content.
The DLC is most of the content there is a reason the base game is half the price as the DLC
i prefer to call it Expansion, cuz DLC now already feel like Microtransaction
I think it changed his life
He will try MH Rise this year. After completing MH World.
the madman is actually in iceborne now, happy for him
I want to see him try Rise to now.
Game looks so boring tbh

The fact that he played off stream made me really happy to hear. I'm glad he's enjoying it this so much
I know right, that’s how you know he’s committed 😂 we got em boys
I'm glad he is grinding up his gear too...
Let’s not forget his reaction when he gets the final blow on each monster. You can hear the hype and joy coming from him every time.
this has been the gift that keeps on giving lol, never played it before his play through, and i’m about to start my first run now lol
congrats lol i hope you enjoy this lol
play sword and shield its op
sweet i hope you have a nice expierence.
Yeah played this on the Xbox One a few years back now I’m thinking about playing it on PC
Sword and shield or hammer. Both are great weapons. Coming from a 1300hr veteran.
Oh, and long sword is pretty fun too. So is charge blade. And switch axe.
Charge blade and switch axe do BIG damage when charged up.
tbh Asmon we should all recognize you're a pretty good gamer if we're honest with ourselves. Most first time hunters do way worse than you, that 11 min Teostra was the icing on the cake. Well done hunter!
I mean we know its true but giving him shit is just fun. Though he for sure is good.
Yeah it's funny I see him do a lot of dumb stuff and refuse to learn things like tackle, flinch shot, or slinger burst but at the same time he hasn't been struggling much at all aside from the few times he went up against a monster he wasn't very geared for.
His first try on Nergi was insane to me. He used no superman dive no shoulder tackle on greatsword. Didnt use environmental spikes on the ceiling. He just beat its ass. Took me days to beat him with my friends.
Most first time hunters haven't played video games for 25 years. Asmon is clearly not an average gamer, especially since he plays games like the Dark Souls series. Its not like he's a LoL or a Counter Strike player.
Gs is easy mode tho, you chare and hit and run then you repeat, if it was the long sword or charged blade I'd be impressed but no he's not really good at the game as a first time player
It's a good thing he does some stuff while off stream, cause it gives him time to do things on his own term. He doesn't have to worry about 5000 people telling him to do 100 different things the whole time.
It’s usually over 20k people lol
@@magies24 i doubt even 5000 are chatting though

I expected barioth to get him good, honestly 😅
@@sushiifoxx to be honest I think Barioth isn't that hard, he can definitely fuck you but if you don't play to aggressive at least in my opinion it's not to hard. Tigrex is my guess where he might hit the first wall in Iceborn. But we will see so far he was a lot better and a lot more patient than I expected so far.
@@gokuderahayato2304 imo tigrex is like braindead easy. but maybe thats cause tigrex has been in so many mh games and ive played them all so i could be bias
@@MeZevihe's definitely quite dated, he moves quite simply too since he's a pure muscle type
Barrioth first try with zero deaths is insane, i'm impressed.
It's what happens when you come from the Souls franchise lol
IDK, personally I think souls difficulty is super overblown. Quite notoriously, a few years back a very good bloodborne speedrunner tried MH and got kinda farmed. The games are extremely different in how they play IMO, and while there's definitely a fair bit of knowledge transfer, a lot of credit has gotta be given to asmongold for how well he's adapted to the more positioning and timing based playstyle of MH compared to the super generous fest of soulslikes. And also to divine blessing and his palico for carrying his ass so hard XD
most people failed to get through barioth because we played base world for a really long time and end game HR items would let you breeze through the Iceborne content till you hit him, then got stat checked at this point.
Asmongold just bought MR items through his playthrough so it was that easier. People who did this back then had an easier time as well. Most of us got OHKO from him over and over till buying new items.
Asmongold doesnt even know how to use GS properly yet.
@@Minty_MH and the thing about going from souls to MH is you're used to 3 billion i-frames and spam rolling through things but you absolutely can't do that in MH
1st try no carts, no wallbang, no mantles, no tackle, no slinger TCS combo, no flashbang and no traps. Just regular charge attacks the whole fight.

For monsters like Lunastra, Capcom designed the game so you don’t have to deal with the aspects of it you don’t particularly like. Asmon sounds like he doesn’t like stuns, so he should always equip Steadfast level 3. He likes more Health, so Health Boost 3, and then specifically for Lunastra, it looks like he’s getting knocked around by Wind Pressure attacks so Wind Resist 5 could be what he needs. This is actually a relatively common bit of basic skillset most players enjoy using.
I am a casual so I use all the comfy skills. I have divine blessing and food secret on my main set lmao. Get hit tank it speed chomp.
That stopped for some reason with Alatreon, who forces you to switch weapons if your class relies on raw. Nothing you can do to fight that thing like a normal monster.
@@TheTexasDice Alatreon is specifically an optional monster made to highlight the value of elemental weapons. Any elemental weapon in your weapon class can be used to win the fight. The "point value" of the correct elemental damage is always adjusted based on the weapon you're using. For instance, elemental damage from elemental gunlances are greatly magnified when accounting for if they meet the threshold.
Earplugs 5 changed my life. The beo set as well as legiana is literally dark souls skill set.
Honestly, he had one of the smoothest clears I have seen for Barrioth from a new player, especially considering he isn't using all his tools (tackles, pods, traps offensively, other mantles, etc).
I am very surprised as well considering he doesn't like listening to people and doesn't know how to make a build or do things that he needs to do now that he is in Iceborn. He will need a lot of help come endgame esp the final monsters. He is going to learn soon that he needs to make a build. Not just "oh this looks cool." Of course you got layered armor but still. He just needs to understand how to build and how to buff and what to bring, he still only has the one cat gadget..which tells me hes not listening to people and not exploring. Yeah its cool to see him playing the game but he is missing a lot of stuff. Still cool just saying. He thinks the game will be over if he just gets to the end when he is missing 90% of it. Love watching the guy, just yeah.
@@Thevikingninja117 not really, he has played a ton of dark souls, so he has already learned all the mechanics he will need to beat the hardest monsters. People play MHW without any armour upgrades to make the game harder, saying you need to look up guides etc is just a lie and a crutch for bad players
@@skylineOwnZallThis is not dark souls and he is not using most of the mechanics tho. Some of the later monsters are very difficult if you just do gs charge attacks and dont use items or claw or slinger or mantle.
@@skylineOwnZall Curious to see what happens when he gets to Alatreon, and how many attempts it takes him to realize he simply can't brute force it without elemental damage which none of his greatswords deal
@@VivaMataulipasyup. Exactly right. He’s gonna be stuck on Alatreon forever. Guarantee it.
I really wish someone mentioned the coral horn. Having stun resistance, wind proof, devine blessings, stamina boost, etc all at the same time is such a lifesaver. It seems like the main issue for him is either blights or stuns and that would probably fix it for him.
The amount of gems, no death fights and McConnell heal clutches, this man definitely somehow has Divine Blessing Secret+Great Luck
Bro took on Barioth for the first time and won. This man did so much better than me. My whiny ass took 6 fights, 2 days to pass this mtfk. Watching clips, google searching for tips. This guy charged in and done it. Props to you Zack!

Yep I'm a MH veteran, IG main and barioth was so much harder in World than in previous gens for me. Same with Rajang.
I honestly didn't think he'd make it to iceborne. Very glad that he did, its some of the best content he's put out recently.
The fact that he beat Barioth no faint is actually impressive
Yeah he did well, but the AI was also very kind to him. It missed him so often and spend 90% of the fight dealing with the Palico. But then he got screwed with the post hunt decos in return.
@@TgfkaTrichter the divine protection was a good choice by asmon lol
Jesus christ is the MH community really this weird ? This is like the 50th "wall" that he's supposed to get stuck on and he only clears all of them first try with no faints because of lucky AI all the time. It's bordering on insecurity.
@@vind9165 or hes good at games like this XD. for the average player who has never played mh or soulslike games im sure barioth was hard for them

Earplugs would really benefit his playstyle. Love how much better Asmon has gotten so quickly. This is the best playthrough I've watched
Dude is playing MHFU style greatsword (except world has true charged slash) and I'm loving him for it
This needs more upvotes. Earplugs would be a game changer for him. You could count probably 10 full charged combos missed every video because of a roar. I love using earplugs with Insect Glaive because its a real bummer when you are working on your third build up before the big hit and you get roared out of the sky. In Rise you don't need to use them because you get earplugs when you have all extracts.
I would say rocksteady mantle but he would probably just refuse to use it

Thank you Asmond. Seriously. You’re a huge influence in the gaming scene in general and I’m sure more people bought this game now and are going to buy Wilds as well. Capcom has been doing a good job at reinvesting the funds to better their games and Wilds might be better polished because of you. Thank you!
Fr capcom’s reputation is so poor but their games are so good. It’s weird.
campcoms reputation is not so poor as u described it, i havent played any mh games and only barely scratched dragons dogma, but from my viewpoint capcom is one of the higher rated companies right now in terms of reputation.@@chanter3978
They’re making a comeback. Changes in upper management helped a lot. They were pretty bad for some time since 2010 until this game came out. Monster Hunter World literally saved capcom
@@chanter3978what? Capcom has been on fire the last decade
@@chanter3978 really? I feel like I trust them since mhw. Monster hunter rise, street fighter 6, devil may cry 5, resident evil 7 and 8, resident evil 2 and 4 remakes (3 was outsourced... whoops) were all good or even incredible in most cases.
I love when Asmon discovers a new game that he absolutely loves and ENJOYS! And gets better so quick - love the many many boss fights. Keep on rolling my boy.
doing all the deliveries speaks volume's how much he's committed to the game....Im so glad he's enjoying it. Good on him, it's honestly one of the games of the century.
I think I still have some to do after 5 years 😂
Asmon is right about Teostra being a good boss. A lot of OG players hate on Teostra for some reason but his moveset is varied and constantly keeps you on your toes to adapt to whichever mode he's in.
Not sure who these players you you have been talking to are. Teostra is widely regarded as one of the best designed fights across multiple generations. Lunastra is the one people hate on.
Depends. Are you seeing the OGs bitter in general (in which case, they never got the hang of OG Teo. Legend fight) or are you seeing them hate on World Teo? Latter means they miss the old difficulty.
OG Teo is a menace, whereas World Teo feels like it's missing half its power.. probably went to Lunastra.
I ended up loving teo/ kushala/ anything with that skeleton because I learned lance. Lance makes those fights so fun.
Rise increased the fun even more by giving 2 more counter moves to use. Ive gotten ar250+ risen kushala in under 7 minutes on a fairly comfy lance just because of those motion values on perfect guard.
@SH1NK1R01 yep. Lunastra is a pain. I've killed so many teostras but lunastra. I dread it
Dude I watch all these start to finish. Haven’t really seen much of your stuff but mad reappear for actually playing through the whole game so far!
In the middle of my first playthrough now. I like using the insect glaive and fighting wyverns like a dragoon.
love insect glaive, one of the most satisfying weapon I used in gaming.
I’ve been looking forward to this all day
I just wanted to say that I have seen your content before but I was more investigated when you began MH…I am excited to see that you truly understand the essence of the game. Can’t wait till you reach the end game!
I love when he said Temporal Mantle is insane and then later said I'm not gonna use it yet while me just auto equip it immediately after getting it and do test run. 😅
Love seeing Asmon continue to play through this!
I've been playing this series since freedom unite on the PSP, so nice to see others discover it and enjoy it. Absolute king of Japanese games!
I’ve never seen anyone get hit so many times and get saved by their palico, divine blessing, and the monster’s AI so aggressively. There were so many times where he just should’ve died, but game was just like “nah.”
Streamer luck xD
the teostra hunt at the beginning was probably the cleanest fight he had so far
I love how much you've grown as a hunter Asmon... I can't wait to see you face off against Fatalis
It’s so cool how he’s play till iceborne
I really enjoyed watching him fight monsters before he got divine blessing 3 and hb3. Now he just face tanks all the hits, but if he’s having fun that way then power to him I guess.
I remember building exactly like him because I saw the stats value of those is insane compared to small increase in attack or crit lol. But true it makes for a boring watch. I'm gonna watch his earlier fights.
tbf i had mhw when it released on ps4, quit on anjenath. Then iceborne release and its on pc, went back to the game and im 2k hours in mhw iceborne.....what a crazy good game. And asmongold playing it, watching every gameplay makes me wanna go make a new character and start all over again.

That Ice Dragon fight was epic. Never seen a sabertooth dragon before.
Holy hell, he read barioth wrong so many times, seemed like he was gonna cart 3 times but carted 0 times, what a madlad, his dark souls experience is really shining here
I've played MH since Freedom 2 and I'm impressed af how quickly Asmon became good at this
Bloody hell, I was absolutely convinced he would get frustrated and knock this game on the head. But the game has challenged him and good old Asmon has risen to the challenge. Nice!
It’s wild how long it takes to learn the simplest things like that you can track or filter items in the map. 🎉great job though figuring that out. But now that you’re in it I’m glad you loved it alot of my friends fell off and the ones that stuck with it through the confusion ended up loving it
i love this series, u make me remember all the good memories.

I've been following this guy since the diablo 4 and all of the mmo things but man, he is really enjoying this game. i had spent +2000 hours in this game and for a first timer he is, he is doing amazing. mh is an amazing franchise love to see more people enjoy it (sorry broken english)
Asmon you're doing really good. My only major tip is look for the animation when you hit the monster and they reel back to the side and look at you while drooling. That is the opening you're meant to clutchclaw onto the monster. When you do that you can tenderize the part you're on like you normally do OR if you have slinger ammo equipped you can latch onto head, press a different button (not sure what it is on keyboard) to do a different hit to force the monster to turn roughly 90 degrees per hit, then there's another button to unload all ammo into the monster's face and send it running into the wall. It'll hit the wall, deal like 500 dmg or more and then fall over and be stunned for a bit leaving a big opening for you. Also this will most likely send the monster into enraged mode so you'll have to wait til he calms down to do it again.
If he knew how to tackle he’d actually start to become quite the menace in this game
At this point I’m convinced we’ve all been playing it wrong and he’s unlocked de way.
I would love to see a dev react to this 😂😂
I love him for loving this game
man i'm really enjoying all these uploads. Cheers again my bald lord.
damn he is steamrolling through this so fast, I'm happy he is liking it though.
I still haven't beaten Fatalis! Don't know how he's barreling through it so fast.
I looked it up cuz even I couldn't believe how long it was taking him. Apparently Coral Pukei-Pukei's tail can only be severed once its total health is below 35%. I learned something new lol

Wassup
Im extremely impressed by how well he's picked up the game, with a weapon many find hard to play with.
It took me weeks to get somewhat decent and months to get good. Monster hunter isn't an easy game for beginners.
Great Sword is one of the weapons that's easier depending on your personality. If you're patient or observant, it's really easy. If you take a lot of risks, you'll have a higher leaning curve.
@@KnucklebreakingThe thing is, it's also the most reliant on knowing the monster more than knowing the weapon. Sure, knowing your moveset is required, but it'll be hard to land TCSs on something you've never seen before. He's goin places rn
i partially agree with you, i don't think monster hunter is that hard for beginners. It all depends on your synergy with the weapon you chose.
@@JayThePancake Nowadays Monster Hunter isn't hard.
Honestly, watching Asmon play I've realised how bad people are at games. Especially since he is having no issues first time around, and so many people have said W/IB was really difficult.
After over a decade it's nice to have a point of reference for "someone new but good at video games" rather than just "someone new" with this new generation. It settles the "is modern MH hard?" debate.
Is Asmongold the most popular videogamer or what?
Congratulations for getting so far, you are doing really well. I want to see Fatalis vs Asmongold :)
FINALLY BEEN WAITING FOR THIS BY THE MINUTE!!!!!
Watching Asmon play makes me realize how easy the game gets with vigor wasps and the health boosters, crazy amount of healling means you can faceroll pretty much the whole story with little to no prep, glad they done this so more people can get in to the series and slowly easy themselves in.
Tbh all they did was take the healing cats from the previous games and spread alot of their hp healing into the fights and arenas. Its definitely nice for beginners especially in combination with a medic cat
It makes little to no difference toward endgame though, alatreon and fatalis will still cause smoke. Not to mention raging brachy and furious rajang
@@jemaselite8076 Yeah but by the time you hit Endgame you are already hooked and probably don't even use it anymore since it isn't efficient.
Health Boost 3 as well. Tanky build + non-tempered monster dealing puny damage = gg

Top it with him being a Souls Vet, he knows positioning and its value. The amount of times he has a chance to get a True Charge Slash, is crazy good for someone not using tackles. Midgame he'll most likely get earplugs and stun res. Post that, don't think much can stop him apart from the black dragons and maybe Rajang.

(590 defense)
The day he learns to shoulder bash will be the day that all monsters will fear him. It's actually amazing that he's gotten this far without it.
"i hate stun locks" stun locking is a three hit punishment, you get hit three time in a short time, is suppose to punish reckless play. getting hit too much means you are getting too deep into fight and trading hits for hits, which isnt in the spirit of the game.
Dude he's just face-tanking everything with Divine Blessing and HP boost. This is lowkey gross to watch and reducing fights to standing around chugging potions.

He limped off, went to sleep, I trapped and hit him with 2 tranqs, no effect. Went to hit with a 3rd and he broke out. Proceeded to broke out of every trap almost immediately after. Finally slayed him with less than a minute to go
Worldbros...w-what ..what do we do now? How did this happen? He killed everyone we sent after him. How can we look at Soulschads in the eyes now?
Let me guess, he's just coasting through the story and not doing any difficult optional fights? He'll just do them all overgeared later if at all.
Yep
Because of Asmon I actually started the game as well with a greatsword, am now at the beginning of High Rank and first entering Elders Recess. What I just found out about keyboard controls and Greatsword is that you can Turn while Charging with A and D really handy when the monster runs past you and you would otherwise miss, I also just switched my weapon to switchaxe which also feels badass and relatively easy to use/understand
im so happy for how hyped he is
Gonna be a shame if he ignores the special assignments. Some really good quests that he won't enjoy as much if he outpaces high rank in gear.
yeah agree with this, pretty evident in that teo/lunestra fight. they barely did any damage to him in base MR gear.
He already outpaced it all, mostly.
I hope you don't mean extreme behemoth, It's the worst boss in the game tbh. Artificial difficulty at it's fullest. It's not even fun. Arch tempered monsters are cool though, except for lunastra.
I soooo wish Asmon would learn to tackle through attacks. But aside from that, it's been super fun watching this playthrough
Tbf, for someone that played MHW as their first MH game, Zack did a pretty good job so far. Just needed to do some tweaks like utilizing dung bombs when two monsters are in the same area. Also heard that he wants to use the Bow, where it'll be quite a big adjustment since the character will be quite squishy.
Viper is a treat, Tobi had a nice moveset, but its so weak... you dont have to respect its power, you can just beat it up and trade. Viper was really refreshing and actually made me worry. That changes when you get OK mr gear and he becomes trash again, but its nice to see that moveset expanded and made into somthing serious, while Viper is still a threat. Barioth too! They made the ice cat much faster in this game, pretty hard to hit until it gets weak.
I think the coolest part about watching this series is hearing asmon talk about how he learns games. He learns slow, but learns everything thoroughly. Be it in this, WoW or any other game, you can really tell when he enjoys a game, he becomes the best in his own way. This has been by far my favorite series to watch overall and it brought me back into a game near to me as well.
Learns slow and thoroughly? 🤔I have yet to see the thorough part of that
Yo, where can I find that pfp? It's clean
@@DevilMayCarry its sakimichan rias gremory iirc
Granted he's only fighting each monster once, as a veteran of MHW to some extent, it is pretty easy to see that during his fights, he is actively paying attention to how the monsters move. He's using M&K, not controller, so it's going to look less fluid in some places than others.
@@DevilMayCarry exactly what cynical said. I got it several years ago
God, he's finally doing the side quests.
Lunastra was funny, I struggled with her too. I wonder if he’ll ever use the claw to wall slam after the great sword combo. He could really do some damage after that. I didn’t know the great sword caused so many openings on the monsters.
He is in Iceborne.. Hell yeah, keep it up man! Nice!
Someone should do compilations of this guy pronouns these monsters name 😂
Lagania
Anajath
Barnabos😂

Cant wait to see Asmon's reactions to the stronger variants of the Angry Trio in Iceborne.
Explodie boi and monka is what I’m waiting for, it’s gonna be peak entertainment😂
Defeated Barioth first try no carts, no wallbang, no mantles, no tackle, no slinger TCS combo, no flashbang and no traps. Just regular charge attacks the whole fight.
What a fcking Gigachad. I have hope he could beat Fatalis or atleast Alatreon now.
Mhw is top tier you literally never run out of things to do, theeeeeee best online community, the custom responses the whole thing.
I feel like he is missing out a lot from this game.
He never uses the GS tackle, he never uses the environment to damage the monster, he never uses pods, never cooks BBQ.
At the very least, I hope he learns how to wall slam for Iceborne.
He said he wants to win the fights using raw skill, not additional aid. He is aware of the tools and things he can do, but he wants to do it on his own first. For the tackle he is getting more comfortable little by little. He is aware of the things available to him though
He did the tutorial for wall slamming, and has never done it since then, he forgot how to do it immediately lol
He won't have a choice. IB fights are designed with wallbangs and tenderizing in mind. If he doesn't learn it he won't progress.
@@aristedes9449 you underestimate his stubbornness 😂
@@aristedes9449I beat IB without using the clutch claw at all. He’s got natural skills. He’ll be fine.
Please fight the Behemoth and the Leshen, both of them are really great hunt
why are you lying
Man these 2 fights are annoying as hell. I would rather fight alatreon and fatalis at the same time rather than these 2 monsters.
These fights introduce mechanic based monsters hunts
He'll beat them first try😂
@@demoralize4730 he can if he's using full MR set, but I doubt he would be able to do that with the extreme and ancient versions
As a insect glaive main i love the mobility and fun the weapon is especially with flying monsters
You gotta love this game. Man I love the Insect Glaive!
