TRIP REPORT | The Best Low-Cost I've Ever Seen! | Istanbul to Vienna | PEGASUS A321Neo

- Pegasus Trip Report, the biggest Turkish low-cost airline, flying from Istanbul to Vienna onboard one of their Airbus A321neo on a nice autumn morning over central and eastern Europe.
A really nice flight, and a fantastic onboard service, from Istanbul to Vienna onboard the Pegasus A321Neo. I can't emphasize how extremely good was the onboard service. I'll talk about it in this description, but you better see it on the Trip Report.
This was my first time flying from the airport Sabiha Gőkcen of Istanbul, the so-called secondary airport of Istanbul, and hub for the 2 low-cost airlines of Turkey: Pegasus Airlines and Anadolujet. I must say that the airport really surprised me. Especially the land-side was amazing. Huge and colorful. Very easy to navigate. The airside was a little bit more "classic and less modern" but easy to use as well.
We departed towards the east from Istanbul. Just after takeoff we made a left turn towards the north and started our route to Vienna. We flew over Bulgaria, to the south of Burgas, and then entered Romania. The views of the Carpathians were really beautiful with the snow already covering the tops. We flew towards Timisoara and entered Hungary. We flew to the south of Budapest, already in descent to Vienna airport, where we landed on runway 34 ahead of the schedule.
About the onboard service. Well, it was one of the best I've ever had on a plane. Pegasus offers the classic buy-on-board menu service but also the pre-ordered meals service. The best is that pre-ordered service is done by Do&Co, arguably the best airplane catering in the world (top 3 for sure).
There were lots of options on the website. Really more than 20 options. I chose the Chicken Snichtzel meal, which came with a fresh salad, bread & butter, and a chocolate mousse. Pegasus allows you to buy more than one meal on the website if you wish, so I ordered some fruit as dessert. A banana, strawberries, and pineapple, which were super tasty. I really high-quality meal that ranks very high on the top best meals I've ever had onboard a plane.
All in all, an excellent experience onboard Pegasus, the biggest low-cost airline in Turkey. I wish legacy airlines in Europe would learn from Pegasus service. From now on, sure I will consider Pegasus as a real option whenever I will need to travel to the Middle East, as they also offer connecting flights.

What’s the purpose of them though
Some say it's just because it looks better.
Some say it helps a little with a smoother temperature gradient between the metal part and the glass part (so less material stress).

Thank you very much for the nice video and the good description. Pegasus is not the worst arline, but seriously not one of the best airlines as well. Unfortunately they always suck in case of disruptions which other airlines handles better. In my opinion, they are even not in the top 3 of turkish based airlines. And finally: thank you very much for the good recording of the take-off!

I flew this exact airline from stan stead to turkey to izmir. had the same exact meal. one of the best low cost airlines and they have such good meals.
Another excellent video posted. Question: Do you usually just travel with carry-ons or do you check-in luggage? Reason being is that some people might like to know the what the check-in luggage experience is like when departing and what the pick-up experience is like when arriving at the destination airport. With the baggage situation currently going on, for some people, that experience might be the determining factor in deciding which airline to fly and to/from which airport. Myself and my spouse travelled on an Air Transat A321Neo back in 2021 to Vancouver from Toronto and like yourself, was not impressed with the aircraft's available room per seat. These days, thanks to your videos, I always attempt to schedule my upcoming flights so that either a B747 or B777 is the aircraft of choice for long-haul flights. Short-haul flights are currently being decided. Keep up the good work! Look forward to each video as it comes out.
Such a stunning report on Pegasus!They are my favorite airline in Turkey in terms of service,cost and efficiency.Especially considering Turkish Airlines recently started costing extra for baggage for the cheapest fare and both airlines offering DO&CO meals,I cannot really find a reason to fly on Turkish anymore! Operating a brand-new fleet and offering inflight entertainment on mobile devices just add up to the experience even more(I’m not sure if this was available on your flight though).Btw the legroom is massive on their A320neo’s,maybe you can try that product as well,320neo’s use the same seats but have a huge difference in legroom compared to 321neo :)

Siempre intento que el sonido ambiente sea el predominante, pero la musica es necesaria para "retener" al espectador, pues la zona de aeropuerto no tiene "acción". Intento que los clips estén acompasados con la música, e intento que la música pegue con el aeropuerto o tipo de viaje, o bien represente lo que quiero transmitir en el vídeo. (Por ejemplo, siempre que la acción transcurre en Italia, la canción es la misma).

The crew did a great job, the cabin was in a good condition and my preordered meal (meat balls) was among the better onboard meals I've had over the years. Would definitely fly with Pegasus again and so far they've been the best low cost carrier I've tried.

Love the engine sound from the Neo's. Although I prefer the spool up sound of the PW geared Turbofan, the CFM variant also sounds nice :)

Going back Türkiye 3 years ago, I used flew from London Gatwick to sabihagocen. Somehow, turkish airlines have stopped that. 3 weeks ago going back Türkiye I flew from London Stansted sabihagocen by pegasus airlines (first time) on the way back to London I came with anadolujet. I was very impressed with Pegasus Airlines. I would definitively use them again in future

Nosotros hemos volao Barcelona>Tbilisi via SAW en 2015 y pagamos como 250 pavos ida y vuelta y la verdad es que no falla la aerolínea. No entiendo porque tiene tanta crítica. Justamente la semana que viene (11.02) empezarán a volar (por fin) desde Plovdiv. Se supone que la comunidad armenia usará la ruta según los medios de comunicación. Muy chulo reportaje :)
Hace 2 meses tenia 4 vuelos con pegasus de Madrid a Estambul y de Estambul a Doha ida y vuelta. En general la comodidad y la experiencia de vuelo fue muy tranquila. Pero los problemas fueron con los funcionarios de la aerolínea. Con la documentación en regla no nos dejaron abordar el vuelo a Doha, no nos dejaron cambiar el vuelo y siempre fueron muy groseros. Tuve que comprar un vuelo adicional hasta Dubai para llegar a doha pero eso no quita que mi viaje se vio muy afectado. Yo le doy un 5/10 a Pegasus
Very nice report! But with Pegasus you were very very lucky. It is not known for consistent service. A friend compared the rudeness of the staff as the late Alitalia in its final years. It would be great if you could do ITA Airways on the premium route Rome to Tokyo, It is again very tough competition by all airlines in Europe and Middle East to Tokyo since Haneda opened for international long range flights. Se ve excelente el servicio de comida prepagado (mejor que algunas aerolíneas de bandera), habrá que ver si no tienen muchos retrasos como sucede con las aerolíneas Low Cost.
I flew Pegasus in October from Antalya to Bucharest via Ankara. The domestic leg was wonderful, however on the international flight, crew was rude and ignorant (both during boarding and in-flight, obnoxious passengers (although not the airlines' fault), didn't get ant of the 2 meals I paid for and crew knew nothing about it after I showed them evidence. During taxi after landing, passengers got up and the crew made 0 efforts to tell people to sit down. We taxied for a whole minute like that. Glad you had a great experience though!

Yeah, that happens on any flight to/from Romania. There are always PAX who ignore the Seatbelts sign and get up during final approach, or during taxi...
@Alex G Se intampla aproape peste tot, mai ales la low cost, nu doar in Romania :) Am fost recent cu TAROM de la Suceava la Otopeni si am fost chiar surprins ca nu s-a ridicat nimeni chiar si dupa ce a oprit avionul la stand pentru ca stewardesa spusese ca va mai dura 5 minute pana aduc scara. Nici eu nu credeam ca e posibil

Sabiha goķćen airport is nice when you are departing from it. When you are arriving to it its not that nice to be honest but istanbul is a very nice city💙
Great video! Is AnadoluJet really a low-cost airline though? I thought they were a regional subsidiary formed, perhaps for Union reasons, for operating out of SAW and ESB.
AnadoluJet is now part of Turkish Airlines, they took them... I flew with Anadolu in November SJJ-SAW-SJJ and had a great expirience.

Small mistake at 9:35. The engines are never set to max at all. There are different thrust levels and these are decided by FADEC (Full Authority Digital Engine Control). Basically they are set to climb thrust.

@@OnBoardHD i mean you can just say they are set to climb thrust and thats still. I think better than saying max thrust because there is a perception in the public that engines are always being used at max which is not correct.

The catering was amazing for that price point. The only thing I don't like about what I saw on this video is the 239 person cabin capacity. That is just too densely packed for a single aisle aircraft. The passengers in the back probably need to wait 20 minutes before they can disembark, it also makes it difficult to find an open lavatory during the flight. The gate area is also more congested, which makes the boarding process more chaotic. So, overall I think Pegasus looks like a good choice, I just think choosing the A321 was being greedy. They should choose smaller aircraft.

The Airbus A321 neo is a nice lovely plane different airlines. Pegasus is a unique airline besides the mythical flying horse that's interesting. Between Turkey & Israel I love Israel. ❤️👍🤗😁🛫🛬✈️🛩️ I love El Al Israel Airlines.
I was really impresed by Pegasus. The Do&Co catering is amazing... and it's really unusual on a low-cost airline. Really recommendable :)
Great report as always sir👍showing my age but I remember in the 1980's when Pegasus and there Spanish sister airline Futura were lying 737-400's both airlines same colour scheme but just the airlines titles were different.

Pegasus has the newest Planes in Turkey.
Probably yes... but also Turkish Airlines and Anadolujet are getting new planes.
In general, I see that the the airlines from Turkey are making a fleet renewal recently.
New is not always better, because the pilots are not used to new machines overnight.

Ceo engines have a Wonder noise, especially on Full thrust but of course The neo is more comfortable on Cruise.
