  • A special anniversary today marking 20 years since i first heard the music of John Mayer. I was taking the rural route back to Atlanta from Charleston when No Such Thing came on the radio, and i was so impressed that i pulled over to the side of the road to give my full attention to it. What and who is this? I was asking myself. It was a new sound and a new kind of writing. Of course, as a resident of the ATL, i should have already known who John was, as he had been playing shows in the city for several years in the late 90s/early '00s and become a local legend there before he signed his record deal. By April 2002, JM had already become a national phenom and was playing small stadium shows around the country, and it only got bigger for him from there. No Such Thing was co-written with John's early collaborator Clay Cook. Apologies for the weak audio on my vocal here, i had no opportunity to re-record this with the Ukraine war going on, and the anniversary snuck up on me. No commercial use.

I wish you would play music more suited to you. Plus the piano is too loud and we can’t hear your voice. This song is not for you .

on this one, i experimented by putting the camera to the side so that the piano keys were visible, and i definitely lost volume on my voice because of that, i probably won't do it that way again. Anyway thanks for the ear time.
