    The problem with the V2 is that yes it's very powerful but the price difference is not that much to a Japanese 1000cc bike, with bikes such as the R1 and the ZX10R having already insane specs, and a lot more horsepower you don't really see the point in a V2, according to the sheet and the video it says it makes around 155hp but if we're being honest you wouldn't pay that similar amount for a V2 (around 17-18k pounds I think the video said) and you'd get something like a GSXR750 instead which has similar power and good specs. Like come on even if it's a special edition only people who will leave it in a garage for decades is going to buy it, no one will realistically track it when they can buy an arguably better track bike in a cheaper 600cc or a cheaper Japanese 1000cc. I just feel the Ducati name doesn't have enough weight in this case (regarding the v2). The superquadro is definitely beautiful and I'd love to have it but unless I had unlimited money, the bike currently sits at the bottom of the list regarding new bikes to buy.

  • @lakkchina

  • @mylexicon2
    @mylexicon2 Před 19 dny +1

    The Panigale V2 is Ducati’s World Supersport bike. You think they are going to discontinue it? The issue with the Panigale V2 is that it’s too manic for it’s class. It’s detuned in WSSP trim, and all of the new SSP entrants are producing 125-130hp. This isn’t a coincidence.
    Ducati will probably make a new machine with less power. If they are smart it will be 916cc. The R homologation will probably be the literal race hardware with headlights and mirrors.

  • @PaulieG1
    @PaulieG1 Před 21 dnem +2

    Considering this is the bike to be on in World Super Sport & British Super Sport, it's a very curious move. Especially since the amount of investment Corse have made to get Bulega to win the Championship last year, and they will probably win it again this year. I can only assume they will come out with a newer engine or even complete bike, but something that will still be eligible for Super Sport racing? This bike still outsells other bikes in their range, so makes no sense......

    They should NOT divest their brand of twins.
    What they really need is something with more bark, thump, spice..... while inheriting their recent times of increased reliability and longevity. They've gotten too soft with the sound and feel of the twin. The last twins they made which produced this sort of ethos were the 1098 and 1198.
    The only twins they'll retain are the old air-cooled lumps in the Scramblers, or the softy 937 twin in the Monster and Supersport.
    They need some stonking, barking, snorty twin with 2-valves, big cams, liquid cooling, wet clutch, but tuned for fat torque and lower RPM peak (long stroke). Like an American V8, putting out tire smoking torque out of the hole, and not needing to rev to 13,000 rpm.

    I don't think there will be a new V2 engine. When I ordered a brand new Streetfighter V2 from my local Ducati dealer here in Germany last week, he told me that there will soon be no more Streetfighter/Panigale V2s as the engines will no longer be homologated.
    As far as the Final Edition of the Panigale is concerned, on the one hand I think it's a nice homage to the Panigale V2, but on the other hand I think the price is exorbitant and I would have liked more. Brembo Stylema and Marchesini forged rims would have been nice.

    Having raced against a WSB rider who wore the number 1 on a V2 Ducati well before Troy Bayliss made his debut as a wildcard racer on a 250 two stroke post him winning the Australian 250 cc production series on an RGV-250 (the class I also started in, just like most of our world champions). Then it does come with more appeal. Similar story for you UK based enthusiasts from the 90’s when Foggy was King. No doubt at time of writing this they will already have been sold as the largest Ducati dealership in Melbourne isn’t taking any orders (and they get everything). A justifiable price increase for what you get as it would cost more to make the same upgrades.

    The big problem about the V2/950 is that it has too much power for a supersport and too little power for a high end hypersport.
    In my opinion it is the perfect sports bike, but unfortunately the market don’t like things that can’t be compared with anything else unless it has a very well defined value proposition (E.g. H-Ds, H2 family).

    I'd love to see the V2 engine in the SuperSport. Jaret Campisi has an unboxing video of a steath black 2025 V2 so I guess the V2 isn't going anywhere for another year.

    End of an era... sad. But it's emissions regs that are killing this - hard to keep them down on a large capacity, price point V2 super bike. That was always behind the move to excessive V4. But a shame, because ~150bhp is ideal for road lunacy and track-day fun. A sweet spot for the enthusiast amateur. That said, the 1198R was peak V-Twin and the 1199S was very good. Not convinced by the paint job here either - very Italian/Spanish teen. Number boards with a '1?' hmm... then an engine doodle and a 'V2' and stripes... total mess.

      @mylexicon2 Před 19 dny

      Twins are easier to certify for emissions than 4-cylinder bikes, generally. Twins are not easier to race in an SBK formula with engine life regulations and cost controls. The Ducati twin is not going anywhere. If anything, it’s more likely the Superbike will return to two-cylinders when the next SBK rules are introduced.

    This design on v2 looked very nice on V4s (not V4S). Nowadays panigale V4s with winglets looks horrible.

    I dont know why ducati doesnt make a learner friendly bike 😂 i would have bought one but the monster looks ass and i wanted a sports bike.
    And i mean learner friendly as in (lams australia or the euro licensing system) not for americans. They are missing the whole beginner market.

      A twin can't compete against 4 cylinders at the same displacement. Physics.

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket Před 22 dny

      They are allowed more displacement to make similar horsepower, but the side effect of that is substantially more torque than their competition.

    • @Chris675R
      @Chris675R Před 22 dny

      They are limited to a throttle opening of 70%, so peak power is exactly the same as the R6, ZX6R and the also limited F3 800.
      At 70% throttle there's not a big difference at torque either compared to a R6. Actually the V2 is more difficult to ride, because the powerband is even more narrow (8k-11k rpm) compared to the R6 (10k-14,5k rpm)

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket Před 22 dny

      @@Chris675R Peak is one thing, "average" is entirely another thing, which is actually far more effectual in factoring time accelerating.
