CURRENT SCHEDULE
Expect a new video every Sunday at 11AM Central!
How Farms Work by Ryan Kuster is a CZcams channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin. Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like. These videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us and we look to educate the world on many essential agriculture topics.
How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.
The camera work is impeccable. Wisconsin farming story told well.
Second that. I enjoy a number of farm channels but no one does a better job with the camera work.
Now that's one heavy load of bales, good thing you have the Denali!
Thank you for strapping down every single bale! I've been on the receiving end of bales falling off a trailer and rolling down a hill that then rolled completely over my car. Just because you "lock the front and back down" doesn't mean the rest of them will stay.
Hey Ryan!! Our renter just put ours up. Down 10 bales from average. We need rain bad.
Love the video Ryan .
Good video Ryan drone footage is excellent as always!!!
Cows might have a hay day! Lol 1:33
One thing I have always liked about this channel is how you always use skid steers to move bales. I remember well the old Bobcat 773. Why wear out your tractors going back and forth to move bales when you can let them do the baling and field work and use the machine designed for loading and unloading. I guess with the dry weather hay will be in short supply later.
JCB more like JCBeast! Lol.
Round balers sure made hay making alot faster.I bought a JD 500 in the mid 70's. It sure was not what JD makes now. The 500 got the job done but it did not like wet grass hay.Nothing look better than a field full of green round bales!! Thanks 😊.
That hay looks great😃👍 the drone footage is amazing, thanks for the video👍👍 looking forward to the wrapping video😉👍
Hopefully this rain will help second crop.
Mighty job Everybody, that looks like some real good fodder💯👌👍🙏😎
Keep up the great videos Ryan, God bless.
It finally rained! 🙏 😎
Nice looking hay Ryan
Hey Ryan I showed my nephew last seasons Video on hay Your video answered his questions On balling in Hay.
awsome video ryan thumbs up and shared alot of bales this year for sure lol
As always...I really love your drone footage!:)
Have you guys looked into a bale carrier for the back of the baler? Brian and Cole Sonne use one and they see a massive difference when they pick up. It allows them to keep a majority of the bales in a specific part of the field.
The bale carrier you refer to is called an accumulator, and can carry a total of 3 bales outside +1 inside.
We have, and we would bust one of those off so fast with our hills
dam! its been a good 2 and a half years now since i last visited y'all channel, like right before i started actually commenting on youtube. hopefully y'all are doing alright now a days with all the chaos going down in the country right now. 😂👍
Good stuff
Great drone footage Ryan. Hopefully a few inches of rain for a better second cutting. 👍
Good morning to ask this question for a while when you were a kid you or your wife did you guys ever make 1/64 scale farm models?
Sweet
Nice to see the JCB back
Great awesome video
You can fit 17 if wanted to
Since he is strapping every one any way he could fit 22 on that trailer but he better get a bigger pickup!
We haul thousands of bales a year like he is doing or with an extra row down the top and never throw a strap.
Good luck with some soakers. The JCB and wrapper beat replacing unloaders and also feeding idiot blocks/bales. I hope the end caps work.
We can't get any hay baled too mutch rain northeast Texas
What's the 'ideal' OUTDOOR storage setup? I'm guessing if you could elevate them somehow that's best?
Great video Ryan, just a quick question why didn’t you put 5 more rolls on top to lock the bales together were you afraid of over loading the trailer? Back when I farmed that was how I loaded my trailer 👍
We used to do that all the time when we used round bales
Low clearance at the buildings and the trailer twists hard coming out of the fields. That’s all I’m comfortable with
Ryan, looking forward to the next live performance from your farm and is there going to be a "Farm Day" this summer?
Nice video
Hi guys how are you guys doing today we need same rain bad we are dry
U could have put more on top of the trailer
Oh my gosh! Did I see a bobcat on a trail!?😮😅
Hey Ryan, Did you buy the trailer with winch rail on it already or did you add that after you purchased the trailer?
What year is your truck? Shes a beauty
Would one of your next buys for the hay operation be a loader tractor? Seems like a loader tractor would be way more useful loading in the fields
Looks very dry from here. Baler'er up asap. I sure ou have other things to do tomorrow. Hope all is well with you and your brother & families. GeorgeK
Whare is the 79 whill it be on the rake?
theres some weather heading your direction if its not there already
Not good that yields are down hope u get some much needed rain
Hey Ryan, Hannah, Dad and Travis, Hay is down, Rain is down but those were very nice shots going down the road. Take care, Take it Easy and Trust JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's cool to see ya haul 12 bales on the gooseneck trailer, but with all the bales ya move have ya thought of buying a self unloading bale trailer
Can you haul 17 bales on the trailer next time
Your awesome
Hello, what happened with the Kuhn round baler, which is no longer seen in the videos. Greetings from Uruguay
I believe the kuhn baler was a demonstration baler
put 5 on top
When I was a teenager we'd haul small square bales, sometimes my uncle would do small round bales with his old Allis Chalmers Roto Baler and we'd break out the hay hooks. When he upgraded to a New Holland big round baler hauling hay got a lot easier and more fun haha! But I also missed hauling hay with my buddies. 🚜
How come the 7920 is not on the newer baler ?
Wouldn't be any real advantage. They are both roughly the same HP so will use about same in fuel and the IVT in the 79 will need a refurbishment after way less hours than the powershift in the 82
I believe Travis said it's still on the planter in case of replant.
Run a strap front to back much easier
Why not throw another 5 bales on top?
why don't you put bales on top of the flatbed and haul 17 instead of 12 ????
Low clearance at the buildings and the trailer has to twist coming out of the field
#1 like
Could’ve put 5 more bales on the trailer
My thoughts exactly that’s the way I moved hay when I used to farm
Yep, then one strap over the top of the bales for any distance or just one strap in the back to keep them from coming off the back if a short trip.
I’m thinking maybe the skid steer won’t reach but idk
@@nalley6815that’s what I’m thinking
If he had a big enough pickup he could have put 10 more bales on top since he was strapping anyway. That's how we load semis for long trips. Short trips just 1 row on top and no straps needed.
That weight off them bales must not be good for the rear off the pickup truck.. Why not get a bigger trailer for the tractor..
✅ P r o m o S M
Seems like a big waste of fuel and wear and tear on truck and trailer for only doing a bottom row of bales and not stacking a second layer when you spent the extra time throwing straps anyway
Low clearance at the buildings at the trailer twists when pulling out of the field
That's a waste of time and waste of a truck if you're not then go 2 high. I wouldn't waste time straping if the 2nd row wasn't 2 wide. And If it wasn't over 20 miles 1 way. I can do that many with a bale trailer.
Low clearance at the buildings and the trailer twists hard coming out of the field
You have shewn how well the JCB improves your productivity. Two bales at a time without driving to each side of the trailer. How much time do you save compared to conventional skidsteers Ryan?
Unloading time is easily cut in half.
