- We wrap up first cutting by baling the valley! I got a little risky with the drone but didn't crash it until I came in for a landing :(

Summer Schedule
Expect a new video every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday! (Schedule May Vary)
How Farms Work by Ryan Kuster is a CZcams channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin. Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like. These videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us and we look to educate the world on many essential agriculture topics.
How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.
I feel like I keep saying this, but this is definitely one of your best videos you made yet. Love all the shots of everyone doing there own thing always in the background of something else, and the action shots you got of the baler...just hands down great cinematography!! And I gotta say that is some nice looking hay...I think this explains why y'all love the Valley so much. Great video Ryan, thanks for the update!! Keep up the great work!
Totally agree!!! Wow.
Agreed
That picture of Rocket was so cool
The Kuster siblings, young and old! Nice work gentlemen!
'At Least I Didn't Crash In The River' There is always tomorrow.
Wow! That's some fine drone piloting at 4:59!
Thanks!
@@HowFarmsWork call the new machine the “JDSS” for John Deere Skid Steer
Great to see both Kevin and Dwight in the video!
"O photography how I've missed you"
That's definitely why you have such great cinematography and amazing shots 📷📷
All of the work you put into producing your videos is appreciated.
It's so nice to see how you and your brother and dad all work together. It's nice to see a family still work together
Ryan, you are the drone whisperer! I love the shots of you flying the drone through the rake and coming out beside the tractor. This is a great video!
I see you put uncle kevin in the old iron - best place for him!
Not sure how to take that…. Lol
Beautiful pictures! Shows very nice how much work and logistics is behind farming. I am a farmer from Germany and it is always nice to see how farmers work in different parts of the world. Thanks for that!
There are several farming channels that I enjoy watching here on youtube. I have to say, you have the best quality and clarity of filming and not to mention the best shots.
Thanks Chris!
@@HowFarmsWork You're welcome and congratulations on y'alls engagement!
I dont think folks fully appreciate your skill with the cameras and editor. Wow.
The long shots with soft depth of field. The drone moves. The slow mo detail (u have to be shooting at 60fps, right?)
Also have you tried speed-ramping on some of those drone moves?
Just awesome work and I know everyone appreciates it whether or not they grasp the work and talent involved.
Thank you Ryan!💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Nice vid. Its great to see the details on the 300 bale first cutting. Travis had mentioned it...nicely done. A slightly different style to what you normally do - those art shots of the river and the focus fade from the grass to the baler you slipped in there were great. Nicely done in flying the drone through the rake - a bit hair raising to watch and totally cool.
Nice photos! JD 4020 looks like it needs new sneakers!!
Very nice high-quality video. I really love my 330 skid loader. We called the hawk just because it takes on anything we throw at it.
Man that is a beautiful cut scene. Gotta love the golden hour.
Best days on CZcams is when how farms work has a new video out🤩🤩🤩
Loved this video! Excellent photography! Thanks
4:57 awesome job fly👍👍👍✌️
Beautiful photography, you make that farm look great!!!! 😉
"I'm the last one to leave and the first one to get started."

Thanks for the great video Ryan, I really like your Dad’s skid steer. Looks like the hay is turning out good for Travis 👍
Amazing video, Ryan! Loved the drone shots to! Some times those crash landings happen! LOL! Blessings to you all!
That was pretty cool Ryan taking a drone and going in between that hay rake👍 you're getting pretty good with that thing your dad's new machine looks like it does good work all looks like your dad's pretty happy too and here I was bragging on how you flew that things so well why wasn't the problem Landing was the problem right are you fix it you'll get it back up and running yes it happens to the best of us from what I can see Ryan nice bales of hay for sure take care God bless🙏🚜
Hay Ryan!! Talk about an excellent video. Some great drone shots. Looks like Dad was enjoying the 330. You ought to call it the G
Nice flying pity about the landing though 🤔 🤨 😂. Flying through the rake 😳👌👍. Love the camera work.. Your dad seams quite chuffed with his new toy "Buck" 🤔 😉 deer thing 🙄😁.... Good luck with the repair. Hope you get your hay all in. Stay safe 🏴 👌 👍
Wow! Flying the drone under the rake! Beautiful riverside and sunset views. Great work friend

Excellent video... great editing !
Just watching this video makes my nose run lol... good work!
Your talent really shows in the video. Awesome shots!
You even put the emotion into the spongebob reference😂😂
That is another awesome video from you👍👍 I love hay making action in the valley😉👍 it's amazing to see how good you can fly the drone while driving a tractor👍😁
Great job Ryan, lovely footage, it seems the valley does not like drones landing on it :( " the Deere Cat" :):)
the new bobcats self-levelling is REALLY good
Keep up the good works. Be blessed and a blessing Amen.
I commend you on your drone piloting skills flying under the wheel rake like that. Also loving the new camera footage. Seems to be crystal clear. Great video as usual.
I've always wanted to try but never had the guts, now I can say I have!
@@HowFarmsWork Yeah that was awesome piloting... LOL:) There are old pilots and bold pilots, but no OLD BOLD pilots LOL:) Or at least no drones belonging to old bold pilots... LOL:) OL J R :)
The Deere 😀. Nice camera work and thanks for the video!
Another fine & instructive video.
Awesome Video and Much Love!!!
Great Video Ryan, Great to see the entire family working together on hay. The new John Deere looks like it did great on it's main voyage for hay. Be Safe and Have Fun :)
The "JD skid-steer". Some nice photography for sure.....you definitely have an eye for it!
Funny choking out the bailer with those big rows.
Keep up the good work!
I'm a big fan of Ryan and hannah
Well that was some insane skill right there flying through the rake while raking at the same time glad to see ur still using the phatom 4 hey whatever works for ya great video as always
We had a trailer like yours that was a straight pull and in sticky conditions was difficult to pull. We made a frame, inverted vee shape open at the bottom so as not to foul on the drawbar that went on three point hitch. Above the top link pick up was a vertical oriented heavy spike. It was basically right above the drawbar pin. On the drawbar of the trailer right back where it attaches to the wheels we welded on a heavy bracket with a large hole in it. From this point we attached a chain with a shackel. Now with the hitch lowered the other end of the chain was wrapped around the spike leaving a shallow droop in the chain. When you are struggling for traction you lift your hitch. It tightens the chain, takes weight off the trailer, off the front axle of the tractor and adds to the weight on the tractor driving wheels. It is very effective because if you have a place you struggle to drag thru if you raise your hitch before hand your maintain momentum and often avoid ripping the ground surface and you get thru. Hope you get how it works. With the spike location you are still able to maintain steering when doing this. Of course when hitch is lowered it has no affect on mobility.
I feel you the land of no cell service!!
A yellow Deere that was named a sick Deere around here 😁
When you all are working together it goes so smooth you can covet alot of ground it's just nice to see that and for the the skid loader how about just the jd.
Your video looks vary clear!!👍
Great video!
Great job 👏🏻
Really nice video!
Nickname for the 330g: "The DeereSteer"
I love it great name well done
The ‘G’ spot ? 😮
That’s some really nice hay!
With the new deere you can have all kinds of combinations like: skiddeerer, G-skid, 330skid, johnG, 330G. Take your pick lol. Oh and nice droneflying. I especially liked going through the rake. Cool shoot👍
You exactly correct. If you're gonna buy a quad or drone, know that it's gonna crash.
I know about those wet bottoms also. Unless it hadn't rained in 8 months then it's gonna be wet. Steer Clear.
Great video, take care. 😎👍👌
Great camera work!!!
Hey Ryan that new Johnny yall will fi d out its a work horse and it's got the power. Been loading big Heston square bales with one and I love it. PS it will point down after you raise it up and then go back down it's like a bucket dumping dirt. Ryan you get things on Johnny that you don't get on others. I live Deere equipment. Call it Johnny.
i like to see , that in this modern times ,some people still ride the oldtimer trakors ,
Check out Sonne Farms Ryan! The attachment they have in their baler would save you guys so much time in a fight against the weather when it comes to picking up your bales!!
Enjoyed the video 👍🏽👍🏽 need a crop tour video sometime
Flying the drone through the rake was pretty cool.
There's not another setting for that self-leveling? I'd think if it has the sensors/hardware for leveling going up, it has to be able to do it going down as well... Bobcat does the same thing except it has another setting for both up and down and works well.
good job guys good video
nice video on a day spent haying
Nice color in that grass hay Ryan
Really nice photography with the bailer in the background in focus and the John Deere symbol out of focus on the tractor!
Should be a contest!
Call it the; Deere John!
Or call "Runs like a Deere."
Loved seing all green and yellow equipment in one picture!
Fantastic SHOTS!!!!! Who was working that DRONE!????? GREAT JOB! Love your videos!
How in the flying flip flop do you pilot a drone like that THROUGH the implement WHILE driving the tractor?!?!? I am BEYOND impressed!! I have to ask what drone are you using?
I couldn't do that at 5:00 let alone do that while driving a tractor. Impressive flying!
awsome video ryan you sure got alot of hay done thats for sure thats a good idea too is to sell some hay make some good money then you can save for what you want to buy or buy tools equpitment or new semi feed upgrade on stuff anything really lol thumbs up and shared
Great drone work. Like the saying goes, make hay why’ll the sun ☀️ shines. Too bad about the crash landing . Thanks.
Great video Ryan I’d just call it the Deere or the g. Keep farming
I’m seeing al the comment like this is like ur best video and I definitely have to agree this video was awesome
Yep the Done shots were awesome, the sunset was great, and the Rocket is King just my opinion
Carful sir 👍👍👍
Ryan, I believe those drone batteries are Lithium type. From experience in communications, they aren't like old Ni-Cad where they loose power and slowly quit, they have a "ledge" when they hit it they just stop putting out. It is suppose to protect the battery so you don't try to recharge a totally dead one.
Yep lithium ions have a circuit breaker that shuts off power when it hits 4.5 volts IIRC... going below that will actually destroy the battery, which is why they have that feature built in. My brother and SIL have all sorts of RC cars and race them and rock climb and they all pretty much do that-- you can be going full out and when the battery protector kicks in they just roll to a stop. Later! OL J R :)
You need to add an A520R bale accumulator on your baler so you can group the bales together in the field.
That looks like pretty good hay. My cousin said are ditches were the best hay southern mn
It's not just a rock, it's a meteor!
"Hay everyone, it's Ryan!"
🦨💨 😆
That looks like a nice river to float down and do some lazy day fishing, Just dreaming.
Call the 330g the 330....problem with the hay wagon is If it had float tires on it I think it wouldn't sink and deep and it did with the skinny tires
Yes…. It was all the wagons fault. Not mine. Lol
A Red Rhino style inline self dumping bale trailer would sure save time when unloading.
5:20 I think that's an adolescent bald eagle
Your drone and video editing is getting very good...not bad for a Cannon guy. Call the 330G what it is...Baby Deere. Keep it in focus!
If theirs a problem with the wrap have Travis slow the baler down when the wrap kicks on that will help!
