    It’s actually a pretty cool feature. You can’t really mess it up either.. it’s preprogrammed to shift up when or if you over rev to the point of potential damage. A real safe way to get a “feel” for a 5 speed without having to worry about burning your clutch out.

      @Littlemineslaps Před 2 lety +6

      @@_BLUU_ If you are coming to a stop you don't have to downshift because the car will shift it down into 1st when you come to a stop(I do it anyways to get a little engine braking) but if you slow down you want to downshift at around 1100 - 1500 rpms depending on the car

    Thanks for another nice video, Jeff! I really haven't played much with the paddle shifters in my Camry SE but need to do that. I just leave it in Normal Mode automatic which gets you to the highest gear it can for better fuel economy. Still sometimes a guy just wants to have fun, even without a clutch pedal! I like how Sports Mode shows you which gear you're in and you can watch the tachometer change when you choose another gear. Yesterday I was ambling along on a back road in Normal Mode at 45 mph and the tach was just 1200 rpm. That's an idle speed (choke)! No wonder the Camry gets such good fuel economy. I don't know what gear I was in but probably 6th. I need to go back and try that again in Sports Mode and see for sure which gear does that.

Say I bring it down to S1 cause I’m in my neighborhood. If I were to bring it back to my automatic driving mode can I just move the stick to the right from s1 to Drive or I have to bring my s1 all the way back to s4 to Drive? Thanks.

    I just bought a 2015 Aurion Sportivo in Australia and when in S mode it of course automatically changes gear but at higher revs ie in Sports mode.
    So if you want to use the paddle shifters will you be overriding the S mode which automatically changes gear?
    There seems to me to be a conflict between the car choosing when to change gear and the driver choosing when to change gear by using the paddle shifters.

    Do you have to be stopped to change from D to S and vice versa?

    Would using the S drive without using the paddle shifters damage the transmission in any way?

    • @grey9803
      @grey9803 Před 3 lety +6

      It wont autoshift ( some do as a safety feature ) and will stay at high rpm but each gear does have a max speed and staying at redline without shifting for a long period of time can cause damage to your engine and transmission

    2 questions: What if you have to make an emergency brake while in the highest gear? (There's no time to downshift) so how much would that hurt the car compared to if it were in auto.
    Next: to go back to auto (S to D), does the car need to be in neutral/park or can I just switch between the 2 modes while in Highway?

      It will actually automatically shift down when you braking (and you forget to downshift) and also shifts upwards itself when you reving too high. More like a transmission protection mechanism in all the cars with PS.

    • @Littlemineslaps
      @Littlemineslaps Před 2 lety +3

      You can switch from D to S and S to D at any time you are driving, just make sure you don't accidentally shift into neutral or reverse while shifting it out

  • @craig265

    Apparently if you want to pop it into s mode you just Pan the camera to the right and look down and that's all you need. Voila

    • @amandamccleskey967

      Yeah. Just when using the stick all your doing is bumping it up toward the plus sign to upshift and bumping down to the negative sign to downshift.
