  • How to use paddle shifters in a Toyota Camry is often a question many owners ask. Paddle shifters in a Toyota Camry can be used to bring some fun factor back into Toyota Camry.
    I will be using a 2021 Toyota Camry for this easy paddle shifters tutorial. In the paddle shifters tutorial for the Toyota Camry, we will learn how to upshift and downshift using paddle shifters in your Toyota Camry.
    Although Toyota Camry isn't a sports sedan, I am glad Toyota decided to offer the paddle shifters in the Camry as it makes this sedan a bit more engaging and fun to drive.

    Hey! I just got a family member’s old car and was wondering about the 2014 model, it looks the exact same however it is a fully automatic (I think) transmission. Would this still work? And how does this work on cruise control? Also, does you upshifting gears replace the need for you to use your accelerator?
    If you couldn’t tell I’m new to this.

    • @Red5oh
      @Red5oh  Před rokem

      Congrats on getting new to you car! If it has the paddle shifters attached to the steering wheel then it would be similar to this. If it does not have paddle shifter then look at the shifter it might have S mode with +/- signs. You can use that to shift similarly to paddles shifters. Hope this helps!

    Coming from driving an actual manual car growing up, I have one question that no video I've watched seems to answer. If you are already moving, say at 40 or 50 MPH, is it OK to move the gear shifter handle from D to S? Or should you only move it to S when you are not actually moving yet?

    • @Red5oh
      @Red5oh  Před 9 měsíci +5

      Yes it’s completely safe to do so. I own a 2019 mustang gt and use paddles all the time. I easily go between S and D while driving. In the Camry it’s fine too

    • @Red5oh

      And if im in 4th or 5th and come to a stop while in 4th or 5th gear and fully stopped. Do I stay in that gear or downshift to 1 while stopped or will it auto downshift regardless when im applying brakes and stopped

    • @Red5oh

      For coming to a stop you can do either. You can manually downshift to first or let it auto downshift for you as you come to a stop, both are fine but doing it manually downshifting is more fun lol.

    What happens if I'm driving in D mode not using S mode, but suddenly I upshift or downshift? I'm afraid it will hurt my car😭

    • @Red5oh
      @Red5oh  Před 8 měsíci +1

      It won't hurt your car at all. You should be able to shift whenever whether you are in D or S mode

      Yup Toyota has programmed it that so you don’t get too close redline and forget to upshift. I’m sure a tune can solve that
