I don't comment on videos often. Maybe a few in my life. This video and your kit were 1000000% amazing. My eyes are getting back and I couldn't see the old screen well but with the new one it is crystal clear. I was afraid initially to modify it myself but this was really easy. I love the clear shells for the gameboy systems but this time I went with kiwi a few weeks ago for the color. I just like the vanilla aspect.

same thats what im thinking, i want to buy a teel shell for my gameboy color but i cant decide if i want a regular screen lens with it or if i want a pokemon gold and silver screen lens, they are the same cost

Ordering this back late as soon as possible. Turned my game boy color into a NES mini. With a custom shell. Never realized how easy it was to break this thing open and change it. Also, I have better experiences with keeping the original Nintendo buttons, depending on the retailer online.

So much cheaper at home if u find a cheap GBC 😊

Awesome video! Just did mine even though my upgrade kit is different…it comes with two sensors.
ok so, bought this and have used it for a bit, honest thoughts, screen is pretty good, and instillation took me maybe 20 minutes (was a bit slow on my part), the screen itself is pretty good, maybe a bit pricy (imo) but I would say that if you're ok with the price, its very easy to install and took almost no technical expertise. only down side is that the screen is slightly smaller than the normal screen and the brightness is alright, nothing to write home about (FAR better than original tho)

How does it look like in direct sunlight? It seems with some lit up screens, they no longer become usable in direct sunlight.

Just to check - does this mod interfere with the infrared functionality on the GBC? I'm tinkering with a homebrew idea that's gonna use the IR and I don't wanna accidentally get a mod that'll make it useless.
No impact to the infrared sensor!

I just installed this last night and it was so easy! It takes a bit to forget about the 5% screen size difference, but the 5 brightness settings is a nice touch! The glass screen I received says GAMEBOY COLOR LIGHT though...

I find that I play gameboy Tetris 95% of the time with my Steam Deck and for a short upcoming trip, I thought I'd just dig out my old Gameboy Color with Tetris cart to play the old school way. I was horrified to find the screen to be tiny tiny and not even back lit! I came here to see how easy it'd be put in a back lit screen. Thanks for your guide, but I'm not sure it's worth it anymore for the GB/C.

Can you use this kit without replacing the shell? And if so why don’t you offer a kit without replacement shell?
You can use this kit on any game boy color shell and this kit actually doesn’t come with a shell. I just swapped the old shell with a new one in the vid since I thought it’d be a cleaner look ;)
Just finished putting this in everything went in fine but I get this slight humming every now and then when I change the screen brightness it goes away

How should you store the original screen?
I mean they’re pretty durable, but if you want to be extra cautious, keep it in a bag to keep dust off and out of extreme temperatures and direct sunlight
Just got my kit delivered and instead of that 3D printed alignment piece, I just got two bits of plastic with no instructions on how they fit. The website just links me to this video as a how-to... Not particularly impressed.
Hi, why at 4:57 when you put the new screen on the shell, there is a gap on the right hand side. Then you cut the video and come back with it being perfect. What happened and how did you fix it ? Thanks
That was just the protective film over the lens folding a little bit. There wasn’t actually a gap there

I got a gameboy color a while back that had a glass screen upgrade apparently. Will that effect the process of installing the new screen?
I’d recommend using the glass lens that comes with the kit. Otherwise you’ll be able to see the bezel of the LCD screen, but that’s not a huge deal for some people

8:50 why the nintendo logo does not appear? If i put a cartdrige before turn gbc on the nintendo logo will appear?
simply because there is no cartridge in the slot.
Do we have to remove the original screen protector for installation?
You can use the original lens, but you will see some of the edges of the LCD unless you use the glass lens that comes with the kit

Can you leave the original lens in the unit? Instead of having the gameboy color "light" logo?
You can, but since the LCD is slightly smaller than the original, you will see the bezels, but if that's not a big deal for you, then sure, you can use an original lens

Some these are people that complain about how switch lite screens or too small and the switch lite this and that then boom here they are on game boy confused 😂
A little frustrating--"backlight mod" implies adding a backlight to the original display. I wouldn't call replacing the display with an entirely different one a "backlight mod". GBC games were designed to suit the limited color capabilities of the original display, so they look harshly oversaturated on virtually anything else.

I have just recently bought a Pokémon shell for my color and it has a specific design on the screen that I kinda don’t wanna get rid of would it be possible to do the setup without replacing the outer screen?

i have a gameboy which has pikachu togape and jiggly puff on the side and the pokeball lights up when i power on do i have to swap that out i really dont want to

I'm getting a strange issue with this kit where after a couple minutes of gameplay the whole system shuts down on its own. Any solutions?
Sounds like a short circuit. I would double-check that the insulating films are aligned well on the PCB and screen so that none of the electronic components are touching. Hope this helps!

Hey I just bought your kit , it works fine except that when I play a game the character runs to the left of the screen. It’s as if I’m pushing to go in that direction. Seems that I Control pad is acting up, any advice on how to fix this issue, thanks!
Sounds like the silicone membrane is misaligned for your dpad, so open back up the gameboy and double-check. Hope that does the trick. You could also try cleaning the contacts with isopropyl alcohol to make sure they are clean

When I clean the motherboard can I use a disinfectant wipes? I don’t have what you have to clean it so can you tell me if I can or not?
I’m not too sure what chemicals may be in a disinfectant wipe, so I would only recommend a high percentage IPA to be safe

@@adalieswietonsakurafox I would not use water since it could be bad if it gets into some of the components and cause issues. 97-99% IPA is best since it dries super quick
