    00:00 intro
    0:16 Recipe #1 - Banh Mi
    1-2 large carrots
    1 cup red cabbage ( optional )
    1" cucumber
    1/4 block tofu
10 shiitake mushrooms ( or other type of mushroom )
1/2 green Thai chilli ( opt for chilli flakes )
    fresh coriander ( optional )
vegan mayo ( or plain hummus )
    1 tbsp sugar
    1 tsp salt ( approximately )
    1 cup white vinegar
    1/2 cup boiling water
    1 tbsp soya sauce
    1 tbsp olive oil
1 clove garlic ( opt for 1/2 tsp garlic powder )
soft bun or bread of choice
    - chop carrots into match sticks (or however you want to slice them - you can even grate them ). thinly slice red cabbage and chop chilli into small pieces
    - in a large bowl add sugar, 1/2 tsp salt and boiling water. Mix until sugar and salt are dissolved. Add carrots, cabbage and chilli, along with 1 cup white vinegar. Mix then set aside
    - thinly slice mushrooms, then set aside. Thinly slice tofu
    - Heat a pan on medium heat and add olive oil, once warm add tofu, season with salt ( to taste ). Once tofu is crispy on both sides set aside and then add mushrooms to the same pan. Cook for 3-5 minutes, add 1 tbsp soya sauce, minced garlic and 1 tbsp vinegar mixture you made. Cook for 2-3 more minutes
    - Thinly slice cucumber, wash coriander and then build your sandwich
    - Layer mushrooms, tofu, pickled veg, cucumber, coriander and vegan mayo
    3:16 Recipe #2 - "Ramen"
    2-3 cloves garlic
    1 red Thai chilli
    1 large head broccoli
    1/3 block firm tofu
1/4 cup soya sauce ( less sodium )
    1/4 cup miso brown paste
    1 tbsp olive oil
1/4 tsp salt ( or to taste )
    4-5 cups water
1 large package instant ramen ( see video )
    - mince garlic, thinly slice chilli. chop broccoli into small florets and cube tofu into your desired size
    - heat a pot on low heat. Add olive oil, garlic and chilli, cook for 1-2 minutes before adding tofu along with a pinch of salt ( to taste ). Cook for 3-4 minutes before adding broccoli, water, soya sauce and miso paste. cover with a lid and let cook for 10-15 minutes or until broccoli is tender.
    - cook ramen noodles according to package in a separate pot, ensure you don't over cook them!
    - once everything is done, serve the noodles in a bowl followed by the soup
** Like I mentioned in the video, this is a salty soup, so start with 2 tbsp soya sauce and 2 tbsp miso paste then add from there! ** - if you do over salt it, add a large chunk of potato, while it's cooking, it will help absorb the extra salt.
    6:35 Recipe #3 - Roasted Veggie Sandwich
1 large Japanese sweet potato ( sub for normal sweet potato or regular potato )
    2 carrots
    3-4 cups red cabbage
    1 medium red onion
    2 tbsp olive oil
    3 tbsp balsamic vinegar
    1 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp smoked paprika ( sub normal paprika )
    2 tsp Italian spice mix
    chili to taste
    - heat over to 175C ( 350 F )
    - chop all your veggies on the thinner side, but it doesn't have to be perfect. place in a large pan/ pot thats oven safe with a lid
    - season with all of the spices, oil and balsamic vinegar. mix really well then cover with the lid
    - Bake for 40-45 minutes ( check at the 30 minute mark to see how tender everything is )
    - Once finished, enjoy on any sandwich bread with any other toppings you desire!
    8:22 Recipe #4 - Nourish bowl
1/2 cup rice ( brown or white - sub for quinoa )
    1 can black beans
    2-3 cloves garlic
    1 carrot
    3" chunk of cucumber
    1 cup red cabbage
    1 tbsp olive oil
1/4 cup hummus ( flavour of choice )
1/4 tsp salt ( or to taste )
    1/4 tsp smoked paprika
    chilli to taste
    wedge of lemon
    - Cook your grain according to the package
    - Rinse a can of black beans
    - Mince garlic. Chop carrot, cucumber and red cabbage
    - Heat a pan on medium heat. Add olive oil and garlic. cook for 45 sec to 1 minute then add the black beans. Season with salt, smoked paprika and chili. The beans will start to look a little dry after a couple minutes, add 1/4 cup water and stir until its almost all evaporated.
    - Plate your rice, beans, fresh veggies, hummus and sprinkle some more smoked paprika/chilli, then squeeze a wedge of lemon ( or orange ) on top!

I absolutely hate that viewers have bullied you into making you say that everything is optional because it seems so obvious that if you don’t like something don’t put it in that recipe if you try it! Or if you don’t like the recipe then don’t make it!! It’s that simple. I’m not even vegan but I still bought your cookbook because your meals look so delicious! Will I use every single ingredient? No! Just use her ideas and then make them your own for you or your family and use the ingredients you and your family love! Sorry for the rant. Love you Julia! I’ve been watching for the past couple years and I do not miss a video and if I do I go and watch it as soon as I can lol keep being you, keep smiling, and keep being the best version of yourself that you can be ❤

Juliaaaa omg HI I was just watching one of your old videos. I just wanted to say that I love you and I admire you. Idk where do you find the courage to do all these things alone. I love nature as much as you do but I'm scared - of men - to go on a walk all by myself but I have no one else to go with. So I end up staying at home every single day and hate it 'cause I need nature to be happy.

    • @juliaayers111
      @juliaayers111  Před 3 měsíci +3

The fear of being attacked in nature is so common and not talked about enough, I feel that fear deeply myself, you are not alone in that!! If you live in a relatively safe place, remind yourself of that while you are out in nature. If it would make you feel better to have some sort of protective thing ( like pepper spray ), that could give you a sense of security.
Some people believe that this fear stems from the "witch wound". This deep feminine wound came from actually being attacked and captured while in nature foraging / gathering a long time ago. Then being accused of being a "witch" ( as if it's a negative thing ). This wound is deeply routed in how the world teaches us ( woman ) to interact with the outside world. We need to look deep in ourselves for healing, and create systems of self protection. We shouldn't trap ourselves inside, because that's just a sad life.
I'm sending you so much strength, love and light! 💛✨

Thank you so much!! No I haven't done my hair in 2 or 3 years, but I still have some blond at the ends of my hair from the last time I got it done, having it half up in a bun allows those blond bits to stick out lol😋

    Hi Julia,
In your previous video, you mentioned to share some breakfast recipes with you, I forgot at the moment but this lunch recipes video reminded me. So my go-to breakfast dish is 'Paanta-bhat' ( slightly Fermented watered rice ). It is a classic Bengali breakfast. We usually eat Paanta-bhat with dal ( lentil broth preferably moong or masoor i.e. red lentils), aloo makha (mashed potatoes with green chillies, red onions and mustard oil), and begun bhaja ( shallow fried egg plants with salt and turmeric). Now to take it to the next level I add some kasundi ( fermented mustard paste, you can add coarse Dijon mustard ) on top. I'm linking a video of this recipe for your convenience but please feel free to tweak the recipe as your heart desires.
    czcams.com/video/mOc1QdNHHEw/video.htmlsi=6lP7fKXMGUofZTVV
It is a meal prep kind of recipe, you can make the lentils and boil the potatoes along with rice the previous day and leave just the rice to ferment overnight but make sure not to use basmati rice for this, any short grain rice will do. I hope you will like this gut-friendly recipe. Lots of love.✨

Does anyone else know what she meant when she said on Instagram that she's home for a little while? I guess in a long term place? I thought she meant Canada?

I was "home" in Canada for 6 weeks in Oct / Nov. Then started traveling again in Dec. I was in Thailand for 6 weeks then after that I realized I was tired and needed to slow down. I came to Cape town and will be here for a total of 6 months! 😊 Hope this helps you understand what's going on!

I love all the mushrooms you use in your videos but as someone who grows and forages for them, I would never add turkey tail to a recipe. It works better in tincture or maybe a broth but truly it’s pretty bitter. ❤ I am always inspired by you and your cooking 🧑‍🍳

Ramen????? You only eat rice noodles. Now, you descover ramen? That's annoying not knowing that ramen noodles are the best.
