he cannot beat Alatreon if he is too aggressive, especially solo.
he needs to focus on countering his moves without greeding. Otherwise he will spend most of the time healing.

Fatalis is way easier than alatreon lmao.. that bs escaton carts me more than when im farming full fatalis set... also fatalis only took like 15-20mins max even if u r average player..im a gs player
@@noidsuper he could've put in the hours in understanding GS's mechanics to the point he can solo farm end game bosses. I used to main LS and DB, but now switching to GS because of Asmon (ngl seeing him play MHW made me go back into the game after months of not playing MHW). I used to find it difficult to solo deviljho because I couldnt get used to his attacking pattern. But now after playing GS for nearly 50 hours, I could solo deviljho and most ice borne bosses without even breaking a sweat.

He's just realizing this game is incredible. This is how you keep players engaged with good quality content that remains fresh even though you replay it multiple times to upgrade your badass armor and weapons to insane specs.
Praise be he has embraced the loop. Asmon never really had to grind much as he went through the main story, like he did a bit but not alot and yeah I know he did a bit off stream. Now he's on the really hard stuff he realizes how much prep goes into fighting the worst of the worst.
Thought he was done for sure. Glad to see him back.

It's so fun seeing him overcome challenges. I never really play challenging games or difficulties but I like to see other people do it. I hope he uploads more stream vods of games like this. I really don't like watching twitch but I will

Yeah I rarely watch Asmon because I don't like watching people play easy games as I would rather just go and play it myself. But I've been watching every stream every day back when he was playing through MHW, because it was just pure fun watching him improve and seeing this baby hunter overcome new challenges.
The character development is just so fun to watch.
After the butt-kick Alatreon gave him and seeing him playing GranBlue made me think he wasn’t coming back. I’m glad he’s not a quitter 🎉
I think the fact that he made it to alatreon shows he isn't a quitter. Now if he were to quit without being that I definitely wouldn't hold it against him.
He tried a game that I don't think he would typically play and enjoyed it.

i love how saying he'll struggle, when he doesnt use the very basic of mechanics such as tenderizing, wallbanging, slinger and using a freaking nulberry that they teach you on the very first hour of the game, gatekeeping now. keep simping.

safi keep dodging your attack is because of the other player running around, that is why you see some ppl speed run by leaving their palico at base, its easier to predict the monster movement playing alone
oof that Vespoid paralyze sting in the beginning when he was charging his greatsword.... felt that even tho im a heavy bowgun user i had that happen to me when i was about to use the wyvern shot i got stung
I started a new save where I only used Great Sword the entire play through thanks to Asmo. It’s been very fun. I recently beat Alatreon and now I’ve farmed him for full gear and weapon. It takes time to understand the fight and tricky to land enough hits but once you master the fight it’s pretty easy and fun.
also doing the GS re-run. it's been a blast and seriously upped my game. 700 hrs across all chars
Glad to see you back. I could watch monster Hunter all day. Barioth was my first wall and actually had to go farm for better gear
Now he just need to learn to constantly tenderize , trying to heal when the judgement phase and more importantly .. layered armor for more drip
Once he figures out how to launch monsters into the wall it'll be so much easier for him to get the openings he's hunting for.

I never get tired of seeing Asmon play Monster Hunter, it's such a rare pleasure to get to sit back for 2 hours with a smile on my face
He should really attack the front arms instead of the head during fire active because they take significantly more elemental damage that any other part of alatreon.
Its not about how many times you cart, its about how often you get back up ;)

When your target ends up behind you during a draw attack you can follow through with the first hit and then slinger burst (doesn't matter what ammo type but certain ones stagger) to change the direction you are facing for the true charged slash. Also Frostfangs ice sticks you to the ground. sorry for the documentary sized comments btw 😅.
Random piece of gear that can help anyone is Acidic Glavenus Gauntlets Beta, they give Lvl 2 Stun Resistance, and have a Lvl 4, 2 and 1 Slots. Unless that armor slot is filled for a Set.
Stun resist is such a wasted perk, he plays solo coral horn will give it anyway
He never switches off vigorwasp, I'd be surprised if he even has coral horn.

I recently beat Alatreon for the first time, then after. 13 more times and counting with groups. When you topple him it's ggs (the good kind) even before breaking the horns, you have to be relentless with the attacks especially if you're solo.
Massive improvement. You may not notice it but it definitely is.
Quick reminder that once the head is broken once per judgement you dont neee to keep hittint the head. You can meet the DPS check by hitting him anywheree
If you go into the tent it'll sharpen your weapons for you and can restock too.
Watching him learn the game is a rewarding experience. Watching him learn to enjoy it is even moreso.
the fun part in MHW is the online feature. They will literally help you always, even if they dont even need the parts

Tip for setting up DECO, you can sort by skills so you don't have to look for it in every page.
He might appreciate MR100 unlocking health augment lifesteal which allows GS to play much more aggressively

Bet you never seen a gunlance longshell charged shell user. Who back hops all the time
flinch 1 is good for multiplayer
sometimes it's tempting to put on a higher tier, because charge blade users don't give a shit about teammates and will uppercut you into orbit anytime you're nearby. At least longsword users don't have anything beyond flinching, the weapons that launch you are the worst
If you have an HBG on your team using spread, you need more flinch.
@@lred1383 the charge blade players that launch you are just assholes or don't know how to play it multiplayer. at the point in the axe rotation where you do the uppercut if you wait a moment the hunter will step backwards. you can then press the attack button to attack from above instead, not knocking anybody into the air. After that you can go for the double spin like you would with the uppercut most of the time. (and loop these 2 moves)
just leaving this here for newer charge blade players to learn
3 jewel slot, why can they make it 2 so there's a posibility 4 jewel drops, is honestly stupid

Get utility skills (Speed Eating, Free Meal, Resists, Resuscitate, etc.)
Time spent running away, removing debuffs, or healing is time wasted not doing damage.
If you know that you'll be catching dragon hands all day, it's much better to have the ability to keep coming back up.
what utility skills fit SnS? because my priorities are blocking, sharpness and affinity, in that order.
i want to use the shield properly, i want to spend as little time as possible sharpening, and get in *some* critical hits. and most of the monsters i'd face would be fire-breathers.
i've pinned down my Master rank sets to be Uragaan and Blackveil Vaal Hazak. any ideas on the utility skills i could use?
Stun resistance. If you're going to be blocking regularly with the SnS, then get 3 levels of stun res.
@@jacktheomnithere2127depends on your current state in the game. In most stages of the game you’ll either have access to master’s touch(but you need high crit) or handicraft. For SnS you really don’t think about using the shield to block except in very niche cases. If you REALLY would rather block than stow and dive/dodge then guard skills are already an option you can tack on. Everyone who isn’t a complete try hard uses Vitality, Recovery is great to enhance sources of all healing, and Speed Eating is good if you’re downing a lot of potions and even slightly speeds up Max potion animations if you’re spamming those. Stun res and depending on the fight, elemental res is good if you are indeed taking dragon hands to the face.
Otherwise more damage skills means faster kill means less time to take damage

@@billytran3692 i'm one of those (very) few SnS mains who'd rather block. my pov: "what's the point of the shield if you're not using it properly (as in bashing), if at all? you may as well use Dual Blades".
i'm aware that not all attacks can be blocked, but the way i see it anyone who isn't using Lance or Gunlance treats *every* attack as if it were unblockable.
Vitality's a skill i'd always go for regardless; but thank you, because i forgot it existed.
i haven't even started my re-play. i'm not going in offline. and i'm currently suffering a burn-out (i'd like to have a goal and mindset when i do return).

Thank you for revisiting MHW and trying to prepare. Alatreon is a hard but not impossible mountain to topple. However it takes a lot of elemental damage and good positioning and constantly DPS to really win. Every hit counts. I hope that if he cannot beat Alatreon solo he will at least join a public lobby and then try it so people can help. Alatreon is the only real elemental dps check. Fatalis is just pure DPS and mechanics.
So excited that you are still playing. You are still new but, stick with it and you'll be an absolute beast.

I'm still stuck on this beast. Alatreon. I can make it through the first Escaton but then he just goes nuts and I have to try to keep up with him or I get knocked down and carted by some kind of blast. I'll work it out but my character just seems to move so slow. I've watched numerous solo videos to see this fight but doing it myself isn't going to good. I'll solo this eventually but I've got to get those patterns down. I won't be trying this blindfolded anytime soon! 😄

52:37 - Decorations are insanely good, so Deco-Slot-QUALITY is 95% of the times better than Deco-Slot-QUANTITY - in this case i'd allways take the 4-slot (or Beta armor in general)
PS: farm Temp.Teostra in Velkhana Arena (event quest: day of ruin) for the chance of endgame Decos (3x "Sealed feystones" guaranteed)

@@taylon5200 I used greatsword during my first couple hunts during world and then decided to try out hammer. When I finished Iceborne I was one with the badonker.

If only they had the adept stormslinger. Safi runs are so ez when you get a whole squad running it. Then switching to a sever type of weapon for the tail cut. 100% completion every time
He's getting better. He has a good shot at beating Alatreon if he adds more elemental damage.
One thing I’ll say is that he should definitely be augmenting and upgrading his armor, when the Alatreon update first came out, I’m pretty most players had 1000 defense and MR 100+. He should also be putting health augments on his weapons too as to not spend as much time healing.
Health augment and lvl 20 armor is after MR 100, and alatreon is available at MR 25, so most players probably won't unlock those things until after they've killed alatreon, and in some cases, after fatty

To be fair i just discovered the slinger reposition after 600 hours of playtime haha, and did very good with greatsword. After learning I can't understand how I did well before tho, so useful.
Kulve taroth Kjarr weapons are best for elemental damage because they come with critical element

Safi i think is still my favorite fight in all of mhw, fatalis is a close 2nd. But the monster is just so fun to fight and the rewards feel/look amazing

@@amplebottomgenes Tbh I was way more stubborn than he is against alatreon. I was using Gunlance and I refused to kill that boss with elemental. I eventually won by just shooting non stop and only dying to escaton judgement.

Yes, but you don't need augments to be honest. I think his bottlenecks are low defense and not enough ice attack. He can upgrade Safi's ice greatsword.
I earnestly wish you the best luck, really. Hit arms. Remember - elemental damage on great sword is just about - hit as many times as you can. It's about number of hits, not about damage number on the screen. Elemental damage is fixed in hit
I don't know if asmon knows, but the tcs does more damage if you hit on both attacks
Holy cow I didn’t get a good look at Asmons hunter. Dame so badass! Makes me want to get the game even more
Asmon should sit with a knowledgeable mhw player or content creator or ..etc for 2 hours and fill him in on the game's hidden mechanics and explain the misleading info so he can have his own opinion with full understanding, alot of people have different opinions on what armor, weapons, gems to use. Sure, most weapons have similar builds, but those tiny adjustments you make to fit your gameplay style is the most fun to me besides fighting monsters

I'm also stuck at Alatreon and been farming guiding lands for augments. Need to do Safi for those crazy weapons maybe but I play solo so I've been hesitant to try it. That's the one thing I don't like about MHW is the forced group content. I know you can solo if you're geared and skilled enough but doing that for Behemoth was annoying so I don't look forward to it.
