Solo Wild Camping in the Scottish Borders - A Camp Wild UK adventure at "The Perch"

- Join me as I make use of www.campwild.uk for the second time, booking a wild camping adventure in the beautiful Scottish Borders, on the summit of The Perch. This hill is only around 400 metres in elevation, but the steep slopes and the fact it is the most prominent hill for some distance makes this wild space a stunning area for 360 degree views, while also being fully exposed to natures brutality! While the weather for the weekend was scheduled to be dry, I ended up camping in heavy rain!
This was also a change of pace for me, with it mostly being about the camp rather than the hike! I only did a small walk up the hill, around 1 and half miles, then set up my tent and settled in for the night. I was planning on exploring a bit more, but the weather turned a bit worse than expected, so I just stayed and enjoyed being at one with nature. No stunning sunsets or sunrises, however the weather did clear up as the morning went on, allowing me to capture footage of some of the stunning views.

Good going Chris. I liked your spot mate - them moors are huge. You couldn't have asked for more space and you didn't have to walk an age to get there. You do what you do to enjoy wild camping and you have a system that suits you. Lovely drone footage. Mark
Cheers Mark. It was a stunning spot, the way the hill stands giving vast views all across the moors is breathtaking. Quite hard going as there is no actual path up, and pretty boggy. It was nice to not feel completely drained from hiking so far, but the morning views and sunshine did leave me with the itch to go on a big hike! If only time wasn't the enemy!
