Silly me to expect some shoddy sand down and repaint, this is the real deal
Hey... people love that sanded down repainted stuff! Lol
@@ingesexton811 I like both, but it depends on the piece. Right now I'm refinishing an Art Deco vanity that was so damaged I thought I'd lose all the unique wood designs in the veneer and planned to paint it. But when I stripped it it looks so good just as it is, I think I'm not even going to stain it, just finish it. I thought I was going to paint it. But it was so much work it would've been much easier to just paint, and it still would've looked good. I'm glad I don't have to though.
That was a lot of work! But what a result! Beautiful!
@@ingesexton811 People need to stop thinking they know how to paint.
sanding is for smoothing out rough edges, not removing paint. lol
You can tell this man took his time with this dresser, because it turned out absolutely amazing
AGREED!😍😲
Oh my God. What a magnificant restoration. It would have been a shame for this beautiful piece to end up in the dump, and without your TLC, it could have. Bravo.
Absolutely gorgeous, love that you restored the clock too!
Obviously.
I am SO glad to see an old piece restored instead of having it painted with chalk paint! Great job!
Chalk paint, a crime against humanity and the ultimate proof of no taste.
Agreed, i love restoration instead of ruining
A lot of places where I live say they restore old furniture but they just paint over it, what a rip off.
@@warjdani looool so what is not in your house
@@1959Berre agreed!!! It's the life blood of HGTV housewives who ruin antique furniture
Changed my mind, I want my dresser back! Lol
Beep Boop lol 😂
Haaaa!!!
Too late
The time and money he spent restoring that, he could've bought a new one.. so nah.. u ain't getting your desk back.. haha
I know he is refurbishing a vanity but why does it feel like he's saving a life... when I think of the memories the original owner must have had with this desk...
He saved the work , and Craftsman ship that this piece was or I should say is. If h didn't it probably would of been trashed. Remember he got for free ..
Well said!
He’s not the one who tossed it. He’s the one who restored it. 😉
They didn't care is was trash for them! A treasury for him .
this is going to be someone else memories keepers 🌻🌹
Solo quien a tenido un mueble o algo por generaciones sabe lo que significa....
As a finisher myself, I must say when you picked up that piece of ugly I thought you were going to trash it for someone . The two tone is great, handles great research, absolutely stellar work .
Excellent work sir . In the throwaway society that we have created , we need to appreciate what we have and not what we can buy . A beautiful piece of furniture saved for future use in a house instead of in a land full site . People like you keep me on CZcams , instead of unsocial media where people squabble all day long and post pictures of their breakfast . Carry on being creative .
Dont make it gay and liberal . Its just cool to restore things. Period.
oh is gay an insult again? educate yourself and start being decent human being :)
Yes a shame many Trumpers and throw away enthusiasts don't get that at all.
@@vaderladyl Ah yes, because one's political point of view is the only thing that may determine their personality 🤦
A bit close minded of you, don't you think? 🤔🤨
It seems 9 mo ago you were already being conditioned to judge and to hate even after viewing a innocent video of a dresser being restored which has 0 to do with politics, yet here we are. 🙄
This is why I began restoring furniture and collecting antiques because of all the squabbling idiots on social media, but somehow I can't get away from it.
we are more than our boring political affiliations.
Btw the current administration isn't exactly building anything back better.
Seems we've begun taking steps towards totalitarianism.
I only hope that by 2023-24 we still have the rights to restore antique furniture, voice our own opinions, and have control over what goes into our own bodies, etc.
@@NorthernGreenEyes Funny that you are talking to someone who also restores antiques here and has no political affiliation whatsoever.
Unfortunately, politics rule all matters of life, especially in this country, even if we like it or not.
You need to learn not to be bothered by that and live your life the way you want it, be damned who is the party governing at the time.
I never said personality is measured by political affiliation.I just pointed out that in my case, I confronted many people, especially Trumpers, that don't believe in nothing else besides their own personal benefit, be damned the ecological and social impact of their greediness.
We have to stop being such a throw away society❤️reuse recycle renew refresh
Deb Deb, very good idea ! I just hate to see ppl painting Beautiful Solid Wood antiques.
And repurpose 😊
@@Unpopularity only if you do this on daily basis. Then you can buy big batch of materials and every next refurbished stuff will be in total cheaper. But for the single table.
Old aged wood would work forever, comparing to dust panels.
i like to throw away everything after a couple years. Throw away society is better for the economy, it keeps people employed.
I agree. We should take care of things. If we don't need them we should share with others instead of pilling trash.
I love that we are rejuvenating these old pieces, bringing them current and functional again!! It looks beautiful!!
So satisfying seeing that yellow come of really great job looks lovely
Not enough people like yourself these days... Great job..
Malcolm Young thanks!
Even me

they will do in a pinch HA!Cheers
That is a gorgeous piece. You should be very proud of this restoration.
Отличная работа, мне очень понравилось,люблю когда старым вещам дают вторую жизнь! Браво мастеру!
Some people are so talented. I wish I was. I love just watching him.
Would of love to seen the reaction of the person who gave it away. It is absolutely gorgeous!! They don’t make them like they used to!
They may have been the monsters that painted it!
"Would of love to seen" - we're doomed.
@@jamesmcinnis208 It could be a phone correction or a mistake, but this person still seems intelligent either way. Perfect grammar doesn't prove intelligence or capability.
@@beebuzz959 Thank you for sharing your perception.
@@jamesmcinnis208 I can live with that.
I can't live with being unable to differentiate they're, their and there, though. That's 3rd grade.
They are=they're.
Their=possessive (their car, their children)
There=location (They live there, their house is there)
I know each should have quote marks, before any of "youse" start. I'm tired. Lol.
I love seeing discarded treasures brought back to life! Thanks!
Inspirational! You obviously have a good eye for seeing beyond the ugliness of a piece of furniture that has been mistreated through the years and imagining what is possible. Great job in talking your audience through what you could and had to do to restore it to its former beauty.
I love that he saved the graffiti in one of the drawers. That’s part of this piece’s history.
Nice job... There is no such thing as “junk”... you just proved that. My wife brought home pieces of furniture when we were first married and had a newborn. We were not wealthy and had to do with second hand and discarded furniture... that started me into refinishing and building new furniture today (an amateur compared to you) but always satisfied with saving great old pieces. Learning how they were built helped me make new furniture that looked old. Great video. I subscribed to your site and look forward to seeing more of your work.
I just gave your comment a 200th like!
Bravo! ! Am I the only one that found it relaxing when he stripped off that paint? ?? Hehe
D'Nae Lewis oddly satisfying was what I thought XD
Peel porn lol

XD
I liked it too!
D'Nae Lewis - obviously you're not the only one! To bad it didn't work.
Wow, that went from “junk” to something I would love to have in my own home, amazing transformation. I’m also glad you got the clock running, it’s a charming touch on the desk.
I enjoyed this restoration video, came out beautifully.
Some people paint, some restore.🤔 Either case, it takes talent, vision, patience, great job👏
Right on
Some people paint, some restore, some people throw out so a true artist can work magic!
IMO painting over good wood is NEVER a good idea!
@@anonz975 I totally agree.
Anon Z
People paint wood all the time there is no problem with it
This restoration is fantastic! I wasn’t expecting it to turn out this well.
Love giving life back to these old beauties!! Not everyone can see the beauty of these forgotten pieces.
Love that cool clock too. Crazy dresser!! Top turned out super nice!
Extremely Clever! Enjoyed, TYVM!
I think the original craftsman who built this would so approve of this....
Really beautiful
This is a mass-produced low-quality piece made for the poorer classes in the 30's. Not too much craft involved originally.
@@MarcusDaGrand was going to comment the same thing. Looks like an English piece also.
That desk turned out so well! I just hope the previous owner who had the garage sale didn't see it -- they'd probably burst into tears, knowing they gave up such a potentially gorgeous desk for free! Really, there are people who would happily pay thousands for that piece. Excellent job!
Easy now Kimberly, some people are just not into restoration.
Most of the time when I give something away for "free" I'm getting the benefit of someone else taking it off my hands so I don't have to figure out how to recycle it or dispose of it.
They probably destroyed it by painting over it in the first place.
There's a lot of these mass produced pieces out there to find. Think thousands is a bit off on price. This would retail out around $150.
You brought it back to life. Amazing work!
Saved the Graff? True Artist ✨✨
These kinds of videos are really satisfying to watch. You take something old and sometimes ugly as hell and turn them into something beautiful and vintage. And it's interesting to see the process from a to b.
More like A to Z. This looks so good!
What an amazingly beautiful job you did. You’re a great craftsman. So glad I came across your video.
agreed! Well done!
Yah i agree
It turned out beautiful.....simply elegant looking! That's a 10!!!
Good grief why did I think I was gonna witness yet again another modern color rustic make over? This was literally bought back to life! It looks like the wood was cut and stained yesterday. This was absolutely amazing
Watching these kind of videos I sometimes wonder what the people that threw it out would think of it after it's restored.
They would say give me my stuff back 😂
They would probably say, I had one just like that.this one looks real nice, how much do you want for it? LOL!😁Not knowing it was the one they got rid of for FREE.😂
@@yvettel326 That would be epic.
It's my desk and i want recover it immediately😢😢😢
If it was mine I'd be happy to see it restored and functional knowing I have neither the time, skills nor supplies to have restored it myself. He's put a lot of time and money into this. Respect.
I loved that you saved this beautiful piece from rotting away next to the road. I try to do the same when I see an abandoned beauty someone dumps. Thank you, sir!
Thanks for making the world more beautiful.
I find it so cool that ppl know how to fix/restore old or broken things. Fantastic job!
As you can see from this video and others like it, there’s not a lot to it. Once you know what tool does what and have a collection of equipment and space to do it in.
Damn this must be SO satisfying when you can stand back n look at the beautiful job you've done! It's really a beautiful piece.
Scraping the paint off of that thing was so satisfying to watch
WOW! Wonderful to watch a Master artisan at work. Thank you!
Beautiful work! Thank you for sharing!
Thank goodness for people like you. Whenever I see those "artistic" people buying beautiful antic bits of furniture and painting them green or pink, I feel like strangling them. Wood is sooooo beautiful. And old furniture should be treated with respect.
naly202 | A lot of those items are not really antique, often it’s just produced in the 80s.
Also it’s not in your house, if someone likes something, it’s not up to you to decide
Also it’s a bit creepy that you want to strangle someone over piece of furniture. You should probably go see a therapist.
naly202 its ok to respect other people’s style.
Carl Krasnenky right? My thoughts exactly.
Impressive restoration. I like that you saved the graffiti inside the drawers - that's part of the chest's history. I'm amazed that you were even able to get the clock working.
This is so cathartic.. I cried..Thankyou so much for restoring this beauty
Wow, excellent job, look super!
I imagine what the desk would've said if it could talk......"Ahh, I needed that!" lol
It would say "Thank you for saving me, mate." From my point of view... 😊
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Now I’m pretty again lol
Are you using fucking drugs again?
It's nice to see a dear old piece like this rescued and given a new life. Great project - well done.
Most everything I will ever need in this life has already been made and owned...they are waiting for me to bring them home. Thanks for inspiring!
Beautifull, beautifull! A perfect restoration, in a pure Art Decor style
Wow, that's really gorgeous. It's so nice to see an old piece of furniture that most people would just throw away get restored so beautifully. LOVE the contrast between the cabinet and the drawer colors!
I fell for light against dark when our roof got redone and I saw the new plywood against the old beams. This is a piece resembling that. Beautiful work.
I like color choice makes it look expensive
Barns Nobles
Oh yes... something lime that
Soooo. Beautiful. Much better than furniture today.
Fantastic job, sir! Yup, sometimes ya gotta wing it! It's refreshing to see someone take the time and do actual woodwork to a piece. Some just sand, slap a coat of paint on it and call it a day. POWERRRRR!
Bravo. This "trash" is now able to be appreciated again. I love Art Deco, and this desk is a gem! Love the choices you made, looks great!
Терпение, смекалка и ЗОЛОТЫЕ РУКИ!!!! БРАВО!
Are you a magician? This is gorgeous 💖 what a difference. Thanks for sharing.
I so love seeing these one of a kind Deco pieces restored to their original beauty!
Very nice job sir My granddad was a French polisher , few and far between these days well done .
Arfabiscuit lol, I was just about to post the same thing! My grandfather also was a French polisher and he loved making and restoring furniture like this. I'm sure he'd think this was a fabulous outcome!
Woooooow that's a restoration, it's beautiful
Very beautiful work done & thank you for bringing this piece of historical artwork back 2 life. CRAFTMANSHIP 2 DA FULLEST IN FULL REPRESTATION IN RESTORATIONS!!!
WOW!!! Absolutely stunning. 💗💗💗
I can’t believe someone would not only paint a beautiful waterfall dresser but on top of that, paint it baby poop yellow!!!
that was the fashion about 50 years ago
amy g my grandma painted her cedar chest that color yellow. It took me forever to remove that and restore it.
And yet we haven't learned. All these bored housewives are painting pieces with "chalk paint", latex nonetheless. So infuriating.

People paint furniture - get over it. We don’t live in a dictatorship where a few people get to make a decision on what’s “the right thing” to do with wood furniture. Painting furniture isn’t a bad thing but guess what... if you don’t like painted furniture then don’t paint it!
Personally I really don’t like the end result, however, what I like doesn’t dictate what people should & shouldn’t do when restoring/painting furniture.
I love it when people do this, save something destined for the trash heap. It's amazing what a little elbow grease and ingenuity will accomplish. Good job, regardless of what the naysayers of "omg, he didn't use the right tools!" say. Whaaa whaa whaa. Big deal. You got it done, didn't you?
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Art Deco!!!! It is my FAVORITE STYLE, and you did a "BANG UP JOB" on this Desk!!!!
Superb craftsmanship - and clearly a labour of love!
Congratulations. You did an outstading job. What an excellet choice to make the drawers a much lighter contrasting color. This reminds me of Biedermier furniture where a golden , most often birds-eye maple is used and contrasted with ebony wood. You not only know how to do it, but more importantly you have vision which is a talent that comes naturally and can't be learned by reading or watching videos. Thanks so much for sharing. This is simply amazing.
Getting ready to do my first project with re-staining a wood table. I love the table. It is where my whole family ate every meal together. I already replaced the chairs, but I just couldn't let go of the table. I keep watching these videos to get more and more advice. So here I go! I am so nervous!
Absolutely beautiful! They knew how to make furniture in times past.
WOW... it's Beautiful simply Beautiful ❤️. It look like something you would buy from a store.
Beautiful!
There is nearly as much craftsmanship in the careful restoration of furniture and other objects as there is in the building and creating of it the first time!
Im watching for e first time. Oh my! I didnt even know it was possible to do these things!! 🤯
Absolutely amazing.
Once again, re watching your videos. A nice, pleasant distraction from 2020.
Loving all things vintage, so happy this beautiful desk fell into your capable hands. Exceptional job, thanks for filming and sharing! Bravo 👏
Love it, my husband was/is furniture artisian in Veracruz, thank you for giving me a glimpse of what passion and dedication it takes for care of such pieces, and bc I get a glimpse now of what I can save up for, to help set up his shop.
Very pretty! You did Tom & Becky proud.
I can smell this video. Awesome restoration!
It's always wonderful to see furniture come back to life!
I love to see the things of the past brought back to life. Beautiful work!
OMGOODNESS it’s absolutely gorgeous ❤️
Well done. Good on you. Beautiful job and a caretaker of beautiful things needing a new life put back into them. Awesome.
This looks incredible!!! Such a shame the previous owner looked at this dresser as trash but you looked at it as if it were a diamond in the rough!!! Fantastic work!!!
Such creative skill. I love watching someone else work. 😂 especially saving all these great pieces.

Fantastic job, really professional.

Great Job My Friend !👍👏👏👏👏👏❗
After seeing this beautiful transformation lot of people will try to recreate looks and all and they will finally fuck it up and leave. But this transformation is amazing and should be appreciated.
Incredibly unfortunate that someone thought they were upcycling and they destroyed the original underneath.
However, you are a master craftsman! Great job!
Just beautiful. Thank you for saving it.
