The gods in Dark Souls were humans who mantled the throne that gods were meant to be seated upon. The demons were not made of fallen angels in this world, instead they were born of the chaotic flame created by the one who sought to extend their age. Our world and the world of Lordran are very different in this way, for all originated from humans in a way, rather than arising from those above. A shame, perhaps with the proper guidance their world may have survived.

And even at once a day, that's pretty bad, but compared to having a mass of humanity *constantly* writhing beneath your skin and trying to escape, that's pretty tame.
Fire keepers would be grotesque, malformed creatures, much like the monsters we see in Oolacile (probably much, much worse) were it not for them being bound to their bonfire. Constant agony would definitely drive anybody insane, and the fact that all of the Firekeepers we meet are fairly lucid is honestly incredible.

While Sif's death is sad, his motivation while good, assumes incorrectly. The Chosen Undead succeeds where Artorias failed. DS3 was my first and only experience with the series, and the Old Demon King was cemented as my favorite fight. Near the end when he blew himself up and dropped to his knee I was confused that he didn't stand up again. Then when I approached I saw him go for his hammer and spam rolled away just to see him fail to lift it and go for a feeble swat. It really stuck with me. I looked around his arena finnaly noticing the mounds of dead demons. I had to know what happen. And that's what really got me into DS literally one optional boss that had a story to tell without showing any of it.

Eingyi speaks so humbly about himself, and especially in regards to the Fair Lady, and even sharing his flame with you... such a likable sort, despite his grotesque appearance, so seeing 15:34 and that masterful editing... Christ, my fucking heart - the hurt from the betrayal in his voice, the fact he tries so desperately in vain to move his decrepit parasitic host of a body to stop the Chosen Undead, how failing that he cries out to the sickly Fair Lady, which is a helpless and gut-wrenching desperate act in itself as no matter how he cries out, she cannot understand his words, and in her blindness she can't even see what's happening right before her, and lastly, his despair at her death...
The last 5 minutes of the video is such a huge payoff of pure melancholic bliss, and I see a lot of comments feeling for the Children of Chaos, something I don't fault them for, but Eingyi was the one that really hit me like a truck. Peter Marinker is a splendid voice actor.

That actually explains a shockingly lot since the Black Knight gear stated that they fought chaos demons, which seems contradictory to the fact that so many are serving in labor roles in Lothric, until it becomes apparent that they're prisoners of war.

100% agreed as well. It always bothers me that most people don't know/remember that the bed of chaos is not just the Witch of Izalith, and that the 2 orbs we break were what remains of 2 of her daughters. Like in lore videos from other channels before ds3s dlc came out theorizing that yuria and her 2 siblings who founded the sable church were the remaining daughters of Izalith, thinking there is 3 missing or unaccounted for. Drives me nuts lol.
There are 6 daughters in the game. That is a fact, no theorizing. Qualagg, the fair Lady, the one who attacks you outside the boss room, the 2 in the BoC, and Quelana. What we dont know is if that corpse with the the gold hemmed set is the 7th sister, or Quelanas, as the item description specifically says the set was worn by Quelana. My theory, is that there are only 6 in the game. Quelanas opening dialogue always struck me as strange.."a mere undead, yet you can see me". What does that mean? To me, ive always took that as a hint that that is not Quelana, not in physical flesh and blood at least. I always will believe that who we see and talk to is Quelanas spirit/ghost, as she died long ago, and that is her corpse with the gold hemmed set being watched over by CD. So where is the 7th sister? I dont know. I dont think shes in game, and do to how Izalith was really rushed due to time constraints, i believe Miyazaki might of planned for her to be there in the game, but they just didnt have time.
My personal theory? The 7th daughter is the centipede demon. it seems that the further from the Chaos Flame they were, the less hideously transformed they were. This is why Quelana seems normal (even if who we talk to is her spirit, it is specifically stated that she got out before things went completely crazy. Quelagg still has her top half as human, and her lair is further from Izalith. Same with the fair lady, who also seemed to be similiar to Quelagg, but due to her sickness, we cant tell whats from the chaos flame and whats from the disease. The 2 sisters and Witch of Izalith were obviously the closest, as they have not a trace of humanity anymore, and are full on abominations. And the one outside the boss room could have "survived" like Quelana did, and came back to watch guard over her mother and sisters. So was the 7th daughter closer to the Chaos that she became the centipede demon, further away from her mother and 2 sisters who have no real form, and closer than Quelagg and the fair lady, whos top halves survived and only the bottom halves were disfigured? Leaving her as jusy a full on demon, who also watches over the demon ruins/Izalith, as we can see her (it) clinging to the wall from the Demon Ruins. That's my take
I know that does clash with the design works interview where Miyazaki said they originally had the centipede demon fight where the bell gargoyles are on top of the undead parish church, until they came up with the idea of the gargoyles, but we dont know how early on in developement that was, and after placing the gargoyles the centipede demon defintely could have been placed where it is as Miyazaki could have thought out this idea and placed it accordingly. Just a thought. God damn do i love Souls lore lol

    • @PaszerDye
      @PaszerDye Před 5 lety +123

      @@JTisOneCrazyMan20
You already forget, the Centipede Demon was born from the spot where the Orange Charred fell Ring when Ceaseless Discharge dropped it. And according to the ring's description, he was born a malformed demon 'since his sores were inflamed by lava from birth.' Which means that at the time of the cutscene where the Izalith & her daughters had gathered to create the Chaos Flame, Ceasless Discharge was not yet born.
      In any case I digress.
My point is that the simplest explanation is easier, that the corpse guarded by Ceaseless Discharge really is the 7th daughter of Chaos. It just takes a bit more reasoning than imagination to explain. Vaati did mention that Quelana faked her death, but there isn't anything implicit of her taking such a course of action. It could be she simply left. Also because that was a hella amazing video & telling it that way is within Vaati's artistic liberties.
Anywho, taking that cutscene into account, it's quite obvious that the 2 sisters flanking Izalith became the mounds that also flank the Bed of Chaos, as the transformed staves jutting out from them would indicate. In all likelihood, that would mean that the next closest sisters were Quelaag & the Fair Lady as they are not so grotesquely transformed themselves. This leaves the last 3 sisters unaffected; the hostile pyromancer, Quelana who wanders the poisonous swamp, & the dead sister.
Considering that this dead sister's corpse lies in front of Ceaseless Discharge, she is likely the one mentioned in the description of the Orange Charred Ring, the witch who enchanted it against lava. Since that ring was hers but she gave it to her brother & he dropped it, lava spewed out from him, & without the ring to protect her, the 7th sister lost the 'floor is lava' game while her parasite could have become the Centipede Demon. This sad turn of events likely convinced the 2 remaining sisters against accepting parasites of their own & becoming demons themselves. On one hand, Quelana was so appalled by what had happened, so fearful of the Chaos Flame, she wanted to get away. After swaddling her dead sister in one of her fire resistance garb so that their brother could watch over her corpse without damaging it too much, she fled as Gwyn & his Black Knights came to Izalith, bringing war. On the other hand, the last non-demon sister guards their mother, being braver than Quelana.
And Quelana really is alive & not a ghost. If she were dead, they would have made it apparent like with Chancellor Wellager being a ghost. Not to mention you can hit her & kill her. The fact that you can only see with a flame upgraded to at least +10 means she was using a personal pyromancy to conceal herself, and only when you get better with pyromancy will you be able to see her.

If you didn't kill the Fair Lady for the firekeeper's soul, then Quelana and her probably spent their last days togther and that serves as sort of a redemption for Quelana. But if you killed her, then Quelana came back home just to find the corpse of everyone in her family, which probably caused more guilt.

Another perspective, bouncing off these ideas in this video:since we know that at ONE point chaos flame *was* unstable at one point, what if the reason the witches of Izaleth were able to stabilize the it was because the mother and 2 of her daughters had no choice but to sacrifice themselves TOO the bed of chaos, forever existing within it to keep it in control and stabilized? If they are trapped in an eternal existence of controlling the chaos, maybe it IS hell. Maybe we are putting them out of their misery.

I thought that was the most direct implication one could get from the game, the structure of the arena and the red warding magic we see seem to suggest that it was a last ditch effort to stem the tide of chaos and that all the demons we see in Izalith are what seeps through- and that the seal is weakening, since demons start exploring into areas further afield. The undead merchant's dialogue suggest that Capra and Taurus are recent arrivals in undead burg and lower undead burg, recent invaders specifically.

Okey, So what gwyn did so far is -

    - fxxked up ring city and the life of his daughter (+ poor ringed kights who just got their powers band even tho they helped gwyn with his fight against dragons)
    - banished his son
    - made his other son a cross dresser
Since there is no ‘official’ complete story line in dark souls, only how you take them and interpret them is what matters... my next statement can be argued whether it’s true or not.

Gwyn never banished his son, his son was banished after Gwyn’s departure from Anor Londo. In all likelihood, the Firstborn departed on his own accord, and Gwyndolin tried to eliminate him from history in order to ensure the reputation of Anor Londo remains high.

He did a lot of bad shit just because he wanted to keep his power, and there's no really good reason for it in the dark souls lore outside of gwyn just being selfish and cowardly. So you make a game and since it's your game you picture yourself the way you are currently, an old man somewhere alone, decreased from after your life of greatness. You really did a great job on the Remastered version of all of these, some of them (including this one) really made me cry even when i already knew the story from watching the old versions.

Easily one of the best video's you have ever uploaded. Unable to put into words just how amazing this is. I've watched it dozens of times.

    man
this.... this is a complete 180 on the original theory crafted, and I kinda like that. Despite how old this game is lore is still being ripped apart and trying to be understood.

I was loyal to the fair lady until the end. I'm so glad to know she found peace in the end at the third game.

Well, we don't know for SURE that Quelana came to her before she died. She may have curled up next to her corpse. However, all of the Sisters and the Witch herself found peace eventually. The kind of absolute peace offered only by death.

It's been nearly a decade since I first watched this series. Now Elden Ring is coming out in 3-4 months, and I'm revisiting Dark Souls with the remastered version, and will be going back to Dark Souls 2 and 3 after. This actually made want to cry. Great job!
