  • The On Cloudmonster Hyper is a big shoe with a huge price tag, and billed by On as the ultimate daily trainer thanks to the dual-density midsole that contains a big chunk of the brand’s Peba-based Helios HF foam. Mike, Kieran and Nick have been out for a first run in the shoe, here are their early impressions of the Cloudmonster Hyper.

    Good for On for making a toebox for human feet and not squeezing toes together like a lot of other brands.

    Love the honesty guys - sounds like On have taken a big step backwards with this one after some improvement in 2023

      Agree. Love the honesty, particularly Kiernan's "I don't care what it does," the $219 is too much for a daily trainer.

    Just bought the Asics Metaspeed Sky Paris for £198 on a deal, makes these shoes seem ridiculously expensive, they almost make the Superblast look cheap and they area proven top performer! Kieran hit the nail on the head, too much money On!

    You know the Superblast is only 114 pounds (= 22,000 yen) in Japan. Prices in UK and US seem crazy.

      The Yen is very weak at the moment

    I will wait a few more months
    To see which super trainer running shoes I will get. I'm Interested to see the new Asics SuperBlast 2 , that New Balance Balos , Mizuno's super trainer and the Adidas Adistar 3 Pro ( with plate and LiteStrike Pro) .
    This will be a very good year for super trainers options !

    Hard time believing it's going to top the Superblast.

      Superblast has its own place. On’s Cloudmonster Hyper can never take that away in terms of its build and foam geometry.

    Velocity nitro 2 for £50… metaspeed sky Paris £220 and available at last. Or this for £210 and a race shoe for £60 (😂).

    • @MrAsthenia
      @MrAsthenia Před 4 měsíci +3

      100% agree. Or looking at it from the other direction, for £210 you can get the Velocity Nitro 2 and the Adidas Adios Pro 3, which is a pretty solid two shoe rotation.

    If they used full pega in the midsole then maybe justify the asking price but not for half of the midsole.
    I love how this shoe looks though! That’s where the extra price is coming in

    On is aiming at dual usage for both running and lifestyle/fashion

    Notice as the cloud pod holes start slowly disappearing in the coming years becuase they know it’s a horrible design.

    My new balance v4s were £100. 100miles in love em. Still going strong.

    Just pointing out that a 10 mile daily run is costing $7.50 for footwear in this case, which seems pretty expensive to me.

  • @oliverdking
    @oliverdking Před 4 měsíci +8

    £210 pounds is for all the mad marketing and collaborations they are doing. And their fancy stores. Not a real running brand IMO, but a cool shoe if you want something a bit different.

    • @kinghuthegreat
      @kinghuthegreat Před 4 měsíci

      Agreed. As well as runner, tend to see people who are ‘likely not runners’ wearing these for the look and appearance. Not a fan of the appearance myself. And definitely of the price of these for what they are.

  • @gtromble
    @gtromble Před 4 měsíci +2

    If you got 300 miles out of them you'd still be spending almost 75 cents per mile. That's more than it costs to operate a car.

    • @DonalG45
      @DonalG45 Před 4 měsíci +1

      Lol you could just as easily say it's a great deal compared to a car because the upfront cost is less than a car and then it costs nothing to operate. Both ridiculous comparisons because it's a running shoe. The only thing that matters is how it compares to other running shoes (seemingly not well in either price or performance..)

    The price is madness for a daily running shoe I will not be buying them

    200+ for a shoe that does not make sense . If it was light , then maybe, but that is a big maybe.

    I will stick with asics gel kayano, proven brand and shoe. These shoes are garbage and anyone that buys them knows zero about running shoes.

  • @tono1665

    So a pointless shoe then in today’s current crop of offerings.
