    Thanks for keeping us in the loop on your Superblast experiences so far, even when there are so many new shoes coming out right now. Your videos have been inspiring me to run in my superblasts more & more. My performance on Strava & the jiujitsu mat are both benefiting from trying to train daily like you train.

    It's interesting to hear your detailed thoughts on these shoes. Because of the characteristics of how you run, I think you are experiencing these shoes very differently than I do. Also, I don't think I would have bought the Superblast if I didn't get a discount; I probably would have gone Novablast.

    Get the Stryd pod. Then you can literally run outdoors, on a track indoors/outdoors, on ANY treadmill and not need to worry about distance. Been using a Stryd pod for over 3 years on every single run. Been on a 2 week trip where I ran every day on a different surface/treadmill and had confidence I was getting the right speed/power/distance. The benefits to training and racing are just an added bonus.

    If this is similar to the SC trainer v2 in the ways you describe I’ll definitely need to buy a pair. Right now the SC is the only shoe I use (other than a racing spike) and it performs great for everyday miles, tempos and long runs. The area where it falls short is the slow recovery paces and faster hard workout paces. It’s just not forgiving enough when my feet are hurting while doing recovery and too mushy when my legs are tired in the second half of workouts. The hyper seems to hit the broader range of paces better by having the compressive cloud units for recovery when you’re striking with the back half of your foot and that PEBA when you really need to give the ground some more force. Great review as always!

    • @supwell
      @supwell  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Thanks! And yes it sounds exactly like what you're looking for - not mushy up front but the back half is more forgiving

    Birthday coming up and think im going to pull the trigger on the ON Cloud Hyper to put in my long run rotation with the boston 12 and speed 4. I love a good upper (i actually love the boston 12 upper ) and firm/stable heel.

      @supwell  Před 2 měsíci +1

      you should consider the skyward x too - it's like a more built up version of the boston 12. for me so far it's been more comfortable and also a little more fun than the cloudmonster hyper

    Classic On, they just take awhile to get anything right. Can't fault them for their uppers. But their midsole/outsoles are still just not equivalent to their competitors, without even considering the price. I'm glad they seem to do well with the soccer moms and cool kids...but they still have work to do to make a shoe I'd choose over a Nike/ASIC/Saucony/Adidas/Etc....and that's not even considering the price. I don't mind paying more for a superior product, but I will not pay more for an inferior one.

    How would this compare to the On cloudeclipse or New Balance elite v4 for those 17-20 mile runs? Wonder if this is better than the elite v4 for those longer runs and being cheaper. What's your opinion of On shoes in general? I've heard so many different opinions from "good shoes that people love to hate", "overpriced walking shoes", "lifestyle shoes that non-runners wear", "gimmicky tech", etc. Idk what to think lmao. And I'm with you, a nylon plate would work wonders in the Superblast.

    • @supwell
      @supwell  Před měsícem

      If you end up returning it you should check out the Saucony Tempus or the adidas Adizero SL2. Both have more of that soft and bouncy experience I was expecting from the hyper. Tempus is more stable but really comes alive for faster running. The SL2 is one of the softest shoes I've tried this year and a fun and super bouncy ride. Another good one at the $225 price point is hoka skyward x - that one is my favorite shoe for getting in a lot of miles. Also bouncy and fun but not as soft as the other two I mentioned

    You’re seriously driving and doing a shoe review?
    Runner Joe Warfield was killed by a distracted driver:
    "In 2019, my dad was an avid marathon runner. He ran over 50 full marathons and seven Boston marathons," said Brian Warfield, executive director of the Joe Warfield Memorial Foundation.
    Joe Warfield ran with groups every week, signed up for every race he could, and qualified for the Boston Marathon before his tragic death in 2019.
    "As he rounded the curve, he was hit by a distracted driver and our family decided we didn’t want anyone else to go through that same tragedy," Brian said.
