0:00 Intro
0:05 Dodge Caravan. The technician was unsure why they used spray foam and insulation to try and resolve their issue, especially the insulation since it could easily catch on fire. He also mentioned the insulation was shoved down the fenders as well.
0:24 The customer left a plastic funnel in the engine bay. It was resting against the exhaust manifold and started to melt.
0:31 Yes, the customer had that plugged into a 120-volt outlet in their garage to try and charge their battery. The vehicle was a Volvo (was told on the model).
0:41 The white line on the screen was actually the bumper of the vehicle.
0:54 Truck also had 4 tires that were completely bald, among a bunch of other issues.
1:03 Toyota RAV4. The customer didn't properly resecure the tire onto the back of the vehicle.
1:14 The technician thinks that it was the customer who actually installed the new front brake rotors and brake pads. The inner brake pad was installed backward.
1:27 The technician said he repaired the master cylinder and brake booster, but the customer didn't want the seat replaced/repaired or anything else. Pretty dangerous to drive like this!
1:36 Plastic was left on the oil filter. Sometimes when you buy filters (OEM or aftermarket) they will have plastic all around it or just the bottom to prevent dirt/dust from getting inside. Whoever changed the oil didn't remove it so the gasket on the filter couldn't seal properly.
1:43 They tried to use RTV silicone and a piece of wood to stop the vibration.
1:52 Toyota Tundra just came in to get new wheels and tires. The technician noticed this when he was putting a floor jack underneath the truck to lift the front end.
2:02 2013 F-150 Ecoboost (twin turbo). The photo is old but at the time it was taken, the truck had 8500 miles/13679 kilometres, so the technician recommended an oil change as well since the oil hasn't been changed once.
2:12 It was a list of other problems wrong with this kit car that made it pretty unsafe.
2:56 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1. The technician had to replace the ring and pinion in the rear differential.

Saw a picture of a dealer repair order that said "check brakes, report on life". Mechanic wrote "brakes are fine, life is miserable".😄
😆
Pilot: Something rattling in cockpit.
Mechanic: Removed something.
I had a car come in for an electrical issue. Warranty repair order stated that "Car Is Possessed". I laughed, fixed the car in 15 minutes (bad ground) and wrote "Performed Exorcism". I got yelled at by the warranty clerk.

They didn't like that, but it was Mercedes so what can I say.... they had me replacing engines, wearing all white on white tile floor... dumb asses.
Remember, 9 times out of 10, "had it done at another shop" really means the customer tried to fix it themselves.

I gotta say. I’ll try to fix it myself at first? But sometimes I know when I’m beat.
But thankfully I haven’t had to Use that excuse yet!

@@tinknal6449 I think it was last week here too, a guy brought in a Lotus Elise with a destroyed engine because of such a feat.

This channel makes me feel so much better about my automotive skills! I may be a shade tree mechanic but I've never done anything half as stupid as I've seen other people do to their cars on this channel.
Same, I only fix my own E46 but I've never had to resort to some shady ass fix to get it working
A little common sense goes a long way, I presume that is what is stopping most people from doing stupid stuff on their cars.
I will always shake my head at the repairs that car and truck owners preform on their vehicles but I'll allow myself a big smile as I look at the sweet vintage Mustang that was no doubt refurbished by professionals.
Some of those videos were for shop repair jobs. Not all shops have competent mechanics. When you find a good shop, be loyal and keep your business with them. The local Ford garage list me as both a repair and new vehicle customer years ago.
That is a 69’ Mach 1 with the 428 Super Cobra Jet engine. During restoration they just left the mach 1 stripe off the sides. But that is indeed one of the most bad ass mustangs ever to roll off Fords assembly line. That piece of shit electric 4 door version is a slap in the face to the 69 mach 1. It was at that point, I started like dodge more and the only modern mustang I love is the 18’ Shelby GT350. Even the new GT500 is a disgrace. It’s more Porsche than mustang. These cars are supposed to be their own kind and not copy other platforms, especially European influences in American Muscle Cars. I don’t care about faster shifts. I don’t care about digital gauges. I don’t give a fuck about gas mileage or global warming. The last great GT500 was the 13’ and 14’. With the 5.8 and well over 600 horsepower, carbon fiber one piece drive shaft, analog gauges, live rear axle, 6 speed manual, and 220mph speedometer.
I was hoping that "charger" was a block heater. Turns out it was a block head.
That Mach 1 is absolutely stunning 😮
I never knew they put hood scoops on Pintos. Looks cool in a cartoon kinda way.
Yep shes a beaut, looks pretty stock too, which is how i like em. Always liked the shaker hood scoop option, we got the same scoop on our GT Falcons with the 351C engine.
My older brother said he needed to come over & borrow my tools & driveway to do his brakes. Oddly enough, he was the one that got me interested in spinning wrenches which I pursued "he did not". He said he didn't need or want my help. When "finished" he came back about 2 minutes later because of a terrible sound & limited stopping ability. I told him immediately he put the pads on backwards like what was shown here at 1:20. He argued & said it couldn't be done because they only go on one way until he saw for himself. This was 25 years ago but the memories stick.
30 years in the battery charging business, but I never thought to see what happens hooking up 120 VAC to a battery.
My guess is:
it is an alternating current, so it wont really charge, but the voltage is way higher than what the chemical composition can balance out, therefore most of thee energy would be absorbed by the electrolyte. I think it would decompose and evaporate the electrolyte very fast, and effectively drying out the battery. If the safety valves can handle the excess pressure without crack or explosion because of high pressure, and there is no spark to ignite the hydrogen+oxygen mix, than thee battery dies quietly.
I think it's like running a 45 rpm record on 78rpm's
I tried to do that once - ok, I was like 6 at the time.
@UC_UGLJimVSO3gZV2v58OKKg Batteries have some resistance, a lot of heat is going to get generated at the minimum.
I'm surprised it didn't explode. It's bound to have messed up any electronics if he tried to start it while plugged in.
My old man had a little 2 seater sports car bless him, had a rattle that was driving him nuts! He. Spent a tonne of money on insulation and it still wasn't cured. He had bought a new hard top and within half a mile I said that this sun visor was irritating as it was vibrating on the the new hardtop. Now I'm no.1 son.....🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂👍
I had to watch the battery three times just to make sure I saw it correctly. As always another great video!
Thanks, Darren. Have a great weekend my friend.
Kind of surprised he didn't burn his whole place down...

Keeping the Oil Filter in its Plastic wrap seems like a good way to keep it looking like new longer.
Seeing that brake pad installed backwards reminds me of why they write "Toward Enemy" on Claymore's.
Damn, I just did front brakes on a 2004 saturn vue redline. 55k miles, very nice older lady lives in the neighborhood. I told her 50 bucks cause front disks are easy. She insisted in giving me 150 because she said she had never seen anyone clean and re-lube the sliders or wire wheel and spray down and blow everything clean, and then torque the lugs. I told her that is how I was taught, so that is how I do it. I explained it all to her, and she thought it was pretty cool to watch and get too ask questions.
I call BS.
@@drw1926 good for you. I am sorry its not a bmw, or that I dont have your ability or skill level.
@@timmylittle2406 you seriously expect people to believe a "little old lady" has the first clue (or even cares) how a brake job is done, huh? "OMG, you cleaned and relubed my sliders! How can I ever thank you enough?" 😂 More like a poor attempt at humble bragging if you ask me. ✌️

"you mean your bumper" - i'm cryin lmao
I've done A LOT of brake jobs, and, I can confidently say, I never installed a brake pad the wrong way. I mean, was the mechanic asleep? How does that even happen?
I was thinking maybe it was the customer who tried blaming another shop but you never know lol
Possibly the other "local mechanic" was them in their own garage.
Man, I refuse to take a vehicle into a shop anymore. They hire these idiot $3/hr rumnuts. A few years ago needed new ball joints. I'd rather take an ass whooping then do ball joints. Took it to the shop down the road, it's fairly simple job, so what the heck. Got the truck back and a few weeks later went to change the oil and noticed that the idiot who installed them didn't put the rubber boots on... So seeing brake pads on backwards does not surprise me in the least...
I thought I fitted pads wrong once because of the noise they made, but it was just the 2 fresh surfaces mating.
I suspect that most of those 'other-shops' actually translates as 'DIY' attempts!

1:18 air brakes? That Boxster is ready for the LeMans, for sure. It's hard for me to believe that their parents were smart enough to put part A into slot B and produce driver C.
We've hit the movie 'Idiocracy' levels. Brake pads backwards being a regular thing, trying to hook a 120v outlet directly to the 12v battery when we have proper chargers for that which is also much safer. 😳

It's always nice to see the cars at the end knowing not everyone is an idiot
Lol, fastest fix ever. “Dude that’s your bumper”.
I'll admit it... I've done some of this crap. I find that in my experience some people only hear the noises that dont do any harm. Wife #2 HATED the fact that she heard a loud rattle on startup. The heat sheld above the converter was only being held in place by 1 rivet. The rest were long gone. One day she told me "I dont like that rattle. Do what you need to do, I dont want to hear it any more. So I took it to my dad's place (he has a concrete driveway, I just had dirt). I made about 5 "tennis balls" of crumpled aluminum foil. Then I wedged them in there as tight as I could. She was happy, no more rattle.
I love the way y’all end every video with a gem of a car! I really look forward to it.
Customer states that they did their own mecha-neckin and now the car smells funky. 😆
It's a little-known fact that you can charge the electric grid by hooking your car battery up to the wall outlet. Talk about giving back to your carbon footprint! It's even better if you run your car all night at high rpm, since that charges the grid so much! Like Gigawatts or something! This channel is so helpful, getting the news out.
I make sure to leave a brick on the throttle to keep my car redlining all through the night whilst it charges the electrical grid
I noticed that there was a lot of exhaust gases from this though, so I piped the exhaust pipe straight into my house. That way the exhaust gasses don't go into the environment and won't pollute :)

The sad thing about many of these...the customer can easily observe the problem with 1% effort. 🤷♂️
but that is already 100% above their level of common sense
It's worse that most of these are caused by the customer.
but they dont yet are still allowed to vote and breed.
When you have 0% brainpower even 100% effort doesn't accomplish anything constructive.
"The sad thing about many of these...the customer can easily observe the problem with 1% effort."
Nope. Being able to observe the problem requires knowing what things should look like to begin with, and most people do not know what it should look like. That's the reason you get people doing weird "fixes" for example, they're perceptive enough to maybe see what is causing whatever their issue is, but at the same time they have no idea how it is supposed to be, so they just think up something they think will fix it.
2:50 I've been facepalming this whole video...but that itty bitty zip tie on the Porsche where a bolt should be made me lose it 🤣 oh, people...

That's why mandatory inspections every 2 years should be a thing... In Belgium you need to have one after the car is 4 year old, if no problems are found you're good for 2 years otherwise you need to come back after one year.
In the UK it starts when the car is three years old, then annually after that 👍🏻

That "another shop" thing is why I started working on my own car by myself. I did a button start mod, nothing too fancy, one on/off switch to turn the power on or off and a momentary push button for the starter. The actual same wires that go to the ignition lock, only soldered to a couple of buttons. This one shop actually wrote an official repair note that "The car doesn't start, can't fix the issue that the customer wants to be fixed".
