In Nigeria, The Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Utsev, has called on Nigerians to take proactive measures to address the potential flooding risks, with 31 states and 148 local government councils that have been identified as vulnerable.
The high flood risk states include: Adamawa, Akwa-Ibom, Anambra, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Imo, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Kebbi, Kogi, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Oyo, Plateau, Sokoto among others

The Kaduna State House of Assembly on Tuesday, set up a 13-member fact-finding committee to investigate financial transactions, loans, grants and project executions under the eight-year administration of former governor Nasir el-Rufai.
During a special session, House speaker, Hon. Yusuf Liman moved the motion on matters of public importance, asking the House to investigate the loans borrowed by the former governor, stressing that it was important for the people of the state to know how the loans were used.

Thanks Rufai for your objectivity. In as much as we want to be nice and be diplomatic as Western Nigerians ,we must not make comments that next generations will hold us accountable with negative lens, when they discover the truth. Thanks Rufai for your analysis on Lagos.People also forgets that Western Region investments in Lagos surpassed and surpasses that of the Federal government even when Lagos was the capital of Nigeria. We should not also forget the kind gesture Lateef Jakande extended to the IGBOS by giving them Alaba and other vast lands for them to thrive .The lands were not bought by the IGBOS,Lagos state government gave them for free. Thank you Dr Abati about comments on marginalization ;it is the honest truth about marginalization.I like watching you guys and keep protecting the brand by telling the truth.

Statements like this are what makes some people to view the Igbos with suspicion. Just that you are allowed to prosper in another man's land does not give you the temerity to insult them. These same people put all kinds of obstacles on the path of other tribes from thriving on their own soil. Is it that they don't ever consider the implication of comments like this to the ego of their hosts? The Igbo man must get some lessons in diplomacy.

  • @africanmessage9846

Lagos is built on the capabilities of all Nigerians. The Eastern should stop claiming that "We created Lagos." The Igbos enjoy using the statement, which gives them the impression that if the Igbos are not a part of Nigeria, the country will not progress. All tribes in Nigeria are unique in their respective capacities, and each contributes their fair share to the country's growth. The marginalisation notion that the Easterns used to claim is one with which I disagree in the sense that there are other tribes that have not been to the corridor of power and have managed to survive. If this idea holds true, other marginalised tribes will rise up to put pressure on the state.
In nation building, one tribe does not form a nation; it is communal efforts that do.
Every country has differences; ours is not exceptional, and they are able to coexist.
Let us embrace our country's success, set aside all of these thoughts, and look forward to a better country.

Brilliant and resplendent Ojy with another brilliantly presented programme. The equally elegant Ayo, Rufai and Dr Reuben Abati with a great analysis. Dr Okwesilieze is dead wrong. Unfortunately, everyone will love to think that they created Lagos however there was already a handful of indigenous people living in Lagos before the advent of various other tribes and nationalities who mainly ventured into Lagos for commercial reasons. Why the igbos should feel marginalised beats my imagination. They're allowed to settle and thrive in their businesses all over the country. Much more can be said for other tribes venturing into igbo lands. All tribes in Nigeria actually feel marginalised as postulated by Dr Abati. Congratulations to our two professors on their awards. Let's hope that they will use the funds for the right purposes to benefit particularly the Nigerian citizens rather than other foreign power. EFCC should do a thorough job on investigating Ganduje and El Rufai. They will find massive skeletons in their cupboards. If the government wants to test the law, let them begin the tests from their own ranks or amongst the politicians.

Igboho defended Yoruba farmers against Fulani herders killing them on their farm also kidnapping them on their farm land.
While Nnamdi Kanu instigate ESN against government security officials, and spread lots of fake news against Buhari and his government.
Even the blind and the deaf will not compare Igboho with Kanu atitude because they the two are different in what they do.
For Okwesilezi to compares Kanu with Igboho is a misplaced comparison, has he forgot that Kanu was standing trial before he jumped bail and ran away from Nigeria? We watch Kanu broadcast from UK against government of Nigeria if Okwesilezi doesn't, Igboho never did such against government of Nigeria.
Kanu give order from UK to his foot soldiers in Nigeria to kill security officials, can Okwesilezi dany that?

I’m sure Dr. Abati will wax strong if not eloquent here because it’s his specialization.
    Igbo didn’t create lagos.
The City boy and his gangs claimed to have also build lagos. Did heavens fall? Despite Late Obafemi Awolow great strides, and late Baba Kekere of blessed memory and his epoch giant strides, these two icons never claimed to have built it.
One incontrovertible fact is that Lagos is in Nigeria and in a Yoruba country. All these are indisputable. Dr. Nwodo was wrong there.

@@uknowamsayingThe context is that Igbo invested so much in those places. There is no way Igbo will create Kano, which has existed for more than 1000 years. Or other cities he mentioned.
So, the context must be applied. There is no tribe in Nigeria that can make the sacrifice and show love to other places to the extent of investing outside their region.
Even other Yorubas don't even invest in, Kogi, Benue, Taraba, Kaduna, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, or even Kwara State, which is owned by their brothers.
Most of you don't even know the heart of love that will make somebody invest in another man's land.
Nobody will wish or destroy where it invested. He will do everything to protect those places.
In other civilized countries. Igbo will be accorded all the privileges accorded to indigenes.
In Germany, when you invest 5 million dollars in their country, they grant you their citizenship; the same is true in many other civilized countries around the world.
In some of the Caribbean countries, if you invest as little as $350,000, they will automatically grant you citizenship.
We are happy when our tribal person is elected or appointed to any political post in Europe, America, Canada, etc., but we come back home to flare up when somebody makes an ordinary comment.

I dislike the notion when Ibos claim they are being marginalized. It feels like they're contradicting themselves by boasting about their success yet complaining about marginalization. Can they thrive all over Nigeria if you being hounded like dogs? Is it because Obi didn't become president? How many Ibo elites advocated for him? Abiola won an open ballot election and was killed, yet there was no outcry of marginalization. I campaigned for Obi in the Southwest, but once the election ended, Ibos monopolized the Obidient movement,Obi threw his Yoruba supporters under the bus. The other time Iwayanwu used the term "yoruba rascals" in a gathering where Pa Adebanjo, the head of Afenifere, and Obasanjo were present, prompting a rebuttal clarifying they weren't the targets. Couldn't he criticize the APC without involving all Yorubas? Moreover, there are many prominent Ibos in the APC. Nigeria's issues aren't exclusive to the Ibos; the pressure is felt more in the northern region, which has dominated the country's leadership.
